If you could own any arcade machine, what would it be?

6 player cabinet of The Grid. This game was legendary.

I'm torn between choosing an arcade machine with the game I would enjoy the most (like Virtua Fighter 3, or the Alien Vs Predator beat'em up), and one that I could play forever without getting bored (maybe a lightgun game, ala Virtua Cop ?).

But what I would really like would be an air hockey machine, and a billiard table.

Hands down it would be Sunset Riders (4 players set) or... The House of the Dead (1 or 2, preferably 2)...

... perhaps a Full set of Daytona USA (6 seats)...

Protip: if you just get one cab, don't go with a dedicated machine. More games, more flexibility, more fun.

I can't believe it took until page 4 before someone posted this (eat it 100 post people). Anyone who has played this in the arcades know this is the way to play this game. No controller can replicate what is on this cabinet, and the stand up version, while good, doesn't remotely give you the same experience that this baby does.

It's the first arcade game I remember playing. I haven't seen a sit down one in decades and I haven't seen a stand up one in years. I'd love to have a working sit down version of these, but like all the arcade stuff I want to own (Twilight Zone Pinball etc) keeping it running would be no small effort.

Ohh I forgot this thing.

Gundam Kizuna Mobile Suit Gundam: Bonds of the Battlefield (Kidou Senshi Gundam: Senjou no Kizuna) is the latest Gundam arcade game made by Namco.

The most notable feature is the P.O.D. (Panoramical Optical Display), which features 180 degree wide angle and 360-degree sound effects, an adjustable seat as well as headset to aid in teamplay communications.

Never played it but it looks amazing.

Well yeah I suppose that if I really considered buying one, I'd go with a Naomi or Naomi2. But I thought it would be "cheating" to answer this to the OP. :P
Anyway, for real I'd still go with the billiard table. It's a nice piece of furniture, elegant to play, classy, and it really never gets old.

Yeah, after Daytona USA this would be my second choice. The sit-down cabinet is really a great experience, the controller is fantastic, the sound is amazing, and oh those vector graphics....

Sounds and looks great, but the UC 0079 Gundams (which in my opinion are the best) didn't have de 360 degree cabin...

I think no game ever even compared to the Dreamcast game UC 0079: Side Story.

Man! That was THE best gundam game I've ever played. It mixed strategy with Mobile Suit Simulation... and you couldn't go guns blazin' and expect to survive...

Ed: Sorry I'm a little out of topic here, but that nostalgia train hit me real hard...

In Fantasy Land: Capcom Fighting All-Stars

Cheating the System: A machine hooked to NESiCA X Live or a 6 Cart Neo Geo AES

In Reality: Virtua Cop 3 or The Rumble Fish 2

The fun would be limited but I'd love one of these:

Such a gorgeous design and a really cool idea. Hit the cup!

Ikaruga would be my #1 choice.
My backup choices would be either Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Final Fight and Marvel vs Capcom 2, in that order.

I hope to one day own a Futari PCB
Hahah I have one! For.me, the supergun setup I now have with 29" tated wega in stereo with 4 x cave pcbs and 2x happ sticks is nigh on perfection.

However,.if.i had.to.get.a.dedicated cab itd be killer instinct 1 hands down

I used to work at an arcade, and they had an MVC2 cabinet for sale for $300. That was out of my budget at the time, but I'm still pissed that I couldn't nab it.

They also had a Soul Calibur II cabinet that got snatched up pretty quickly.

are those just 2 regular tournament sticks side by side?

Yeah, that's one option that the builder offers. I got the other model with a normal control panel that needs you to buy all the parts and put them into the shell. He also installed latches so that the control panel is super sturdily attached to the base, but can be easily slid out when the latches are undone and the panel needs repairs. Can't wait to finish this up and buy every fighting game under the sun just because the cab will make it awesome.

Probably a 2-player San Francisco Rush 2049 setup, just so I can feel that bass up in my rectum in the comfort of my home.

Played this at Gameworks with 4 friends. This game is truly awesome, and can become very addictive.

Already saw the one for Ms. Pacman on here, but not the one with both MPM and Galaga.

Pac Man Battle Royal... I would love to own this but its priced way out of my range... (Plus the delux version wouldn't fit in my basement.... to tall i think)

I actually would like to have a Super Street Fighter 2 cab, or possibly a vanilla Street Fighter 3 one..
