IGN Castlevania Judgement review

Pedobear said:
And that's the problem right there. An elitist fucktard. Review disregarded. Still picking it up tomorrow. Sounds like he's a big Soul Calibur 4 fan. Good, he doesn't know a good fighting game if one bit him in the ass.
I know gaf loves to disregard any review that doesn't fit into their preconceptions but this has to be one of the stupidiest rationalities I've seen yet.

The Reviews WRONG because he's ELITIST and a FUCKTARD. Plus he liked Soul Calibur 4. He Wouldn't know a good fighting game if ONE BIT HIM IN THE ASS.

sigh

Shouldn't reviews be about the game's content. What about the graphics, music, gameplay modes, unlockables or online play? He doesn't tell us anything except that ''it sucks, sucks, sucks, bad designs, not adventure, sucks''. It' sloppily written and very short too.

It is an elitist fucktard review.

The 1up review is fair enough. This will be a shalow game that's fun because it's shallow and dumb like most anime fighters, except this is a bit more because Castlevania themed makes the Castlevania fan in me go crazy.

You do know all those styles are anime style in a sense.

Just read the review. He just goes on about how it's not the game he expected and how it's not an adventure game. The review is extremely short and looks like a GameFAQS user review.

Doesn't mention the music, graphics, online play or game modes. It's just ranting about how the game sucks, etc.

Yea, and Boz says it's actually a pretty balanced game so I don't think there's any serious flaws in the game design. I might just pick this up tomorrow.

You got it. I cant imagine paying full price for it but if you're a Castlevania nut you should check it out for 20-25 bucks or so.

Its just a shame this game isnt a powerstone game (overhead camera angle, 4 players on screen etc etc) it could have been dope!!!

Uh, this is a review not a preview. It's a short review (like all of 1ups) and thus it focuses on the big things -- in this case the camera and character design.

Also I'm not sure how many more red herrings you can stuff into a sentence

Damn dude you are like the head of the Game Reviewers Defense Force, I think I have seen you in at least 4 threads the past 7 days defending reviewers (Sonic, Clone Wars, ToS2, Castlevania) :lol

I will have to give this game a rental, seems I like I am a sucker for these games reviewers bash, I will say he does have a point about the camera. Many other people who have played it have commented on the camera being an issue

umm the point was the review doesn't bash it. at all.

Nope, but in the way they did. Look, I didn't even care until I saw the trailer yesterday about the damn game. I thought the trailer looked great, then it got a good score at IGN. Decided to buy it. That's it.

But 1Up review's just complete trash. It's a fanboyish rant that makes no point about the actual game at all and it obviously not objective in any way.

Who cares if the game is fun? It's all about graphics and gameplay modes.

It's not so much as defending game reviews as pointing out the stupidity of fanboys attacking reviews for meaningless things when they themselves haven't even played it.

The review commented on the camera, spacing, special attacks, character balance and character design. Your attempt at discrediting this review is pretty feeble still.

^^ It would not matter if it wasnt that 1up does this type all the time. I guess that means it should not matter at all. or 1up should not matter at all.

Is Eric supposed to be a girl? Also who is Aeon?
Eric Lecarde is a boy. You might remember him from Bloodlines where he's not a young boy or from Portrait of Ruin where he's really not a young boy.

Judgment brings him in just after Alucard gives him his spear.

That's what I thought. :lol

Aeon's an original Judgement character with mastery over time, probably brought in to explain why these characters are all fighting eachother.

Thats Eric Lecarde?!

Oh thats right...Bloodlines did take place further down the line. Could've given em a more boyish voice though. Hate it when young boy characters (Megaman included) end up sounding like a girl.

EDIT: Dont know why that didnt click at first :lol I wanted to say Eric Lecarde, but I thought I was getting names mixed up.

I played about 1 1/2 hours so far, and yeah IGN's review is pretty accurate.

There really does seem to be alot you can do with each character, and the fights move so fast, it's hard to remember how to do everything. It's kinda like smash, but with a few more options. You can cancel into a ton of different moves, and really mix things up. Fighting a 20 ft tall minotaur who wields a fucking marble column as a weapon is pretty awesome! You have to time your dodge rolls at the last second, and counter attack him.

The GameCube pad works great with the game, and while the wii remote is functional, it's just a bit too cumbersome to remember all the different mappings they delegated to it.

Yeah, beating the story mode definitely seems like it will unlock something pretty awesome, each time you beat the story mode with a character, Aeon will say, "Another key, 12 more to go..." so, once you give him the final key, I guess...you unlock Medusa Head!

Tried playing on Wi-Fi, but couldn't connect to a match, I think it might be a problem on my end, but I'm not sure.

Anything about any secret characters? Spoiler them if you know, please.

Did you bother to read the review or did you just let your imagination be your guide?

Okay, so I've been keeping an open mind about this for awhile and I'm pretty much sold at this point. I really hope the online aspect is solid because I loved Budokai Tenkaichi 3 on the Wii but the online versus was so broken that it kind of killed the game for me, and I wished that Guilty Gear Accent Core had it. If these games had competent online modes than the Wii would've been might platform of choice for fighters at this point.

The context makes it totally clear that he is referring to balance; haunts should not have had to clarify. And the content of the review is fine- it should review the game, not read like a checklist or the back of the box.

Who did you end up playing as? I think if all the characters were as fleshed out as Simon, Alucard, Eric and Maria it would be fine but some of the others seemed to be seriously lacking. Liek that Golem character, he is slow enough as it is but to use his roll as mobility uses meter. WTF?? How is that fair? :lol

did you end up finding any uses for any of the other items? Seems like holy water (combo extender) and of course the time stop item were the only useful items more or less.

Also I assume maybe you couldn't find a match because its a new game?

Since when did 7.5 review scores get so many "wow"s?
Because the game looked and sounded like bullshit when it was first shown. That a decent game came out of this is a miracle.

well castlevania chronicles on the PSP got 7 to 8s as well...

and that was an enjoyable castlevania game

given the genre of this game it is a pleasant surprise that it scored that high

Castlevania could be a stronger series on Wii than just a spin-off fighter - either in a full-on 3D adventure, or in the preferred 2D style, which could make for an amazing Symphony-like take on the platform - but the final offering Iga and his team has put together is one that still offers a huge amount of fan service to Castlevania lovers, and a deep, fun fighter for those that maybe haven't paid that much attention to the series over the years.
Jesus, long enough sentence? :lol

Good to hear the game isn't total trash, but I'll still probably wait until it hits the bargain bin. It looks like a Power Stone sort of game, and I was only ever a passive fan of that series.

How is that possible when every single character's move inputs are the same? It's not even worth using most of their abilities since the standard attack combo does so much damage. Just tack on a B-button special at the end of the combo and you've basically annihilated 1/3 of their life.
