I don't get it. People aren't allowed to have issues/complaints, minor or otherwise? They're automatically someone with an anti-halo agenda, SDF, etc. etc. I've seen the posters who mentioned the grass, plant movement, etc. in tons of Halo threads and are fans of the series.

Only real morons in this thread are the ones who are such big fanboys that they can't fathom the thought that someone can be a fan and *gasp* be able to critisize/discuss the games faults as well

Of course criticism is welcome, and should never be discouraged. But complaining about that the color of the grass is all the same? It's as if they're running out of things to complain about. :p

There's a right and wrong way to bring up a complaint without sounding like you're not pushing an agenda. We're pretty good at deciphering which is which.

While I agree, there is something to be said for using more than one palette for the whole thing. It does look slightly repetitive. I think they could have mixed it up a little bit.
 
Not to go off topic of the color of the grass or anything, but I've been paying attention to the sky, especially the storm over the Ark. It really looks amazing, the way the giant cloud rotates. You really get a sense of how big the scale of the levels are. But I seem to remember Bungie saying the clouds were not volumetric. Either way it really adds to the atmosphere.
 
I'm not complaining about the color of the grass, but how it seems to be in disjointed clumps. In the game1 sp vid it's all swaying back and forth in it's own little oval shaped circles, each circle out of sync with the others.

They all move when you walk through 'em, and I was surprised to see the plants actually self-shadowing. I had assumed that was a lightmap, but it's a realtime effect, as far as I can tell. It gives the plants a very compelling, realistic aspect. Especially when I'm lobbing grenades at 'em to see them move. Or following an AI player around and watching him interact with them.

That's the real problem. Shadowing makes up a... "slight bit" of lighting, wouldn't you say? That it's been no different for trees and most of the other dynamic objects is also bothering. There's few things that look more "wrong" than a truck sitting on a road with lighting that gives no indication it even exists.

It looks like it uses the same motion engine as the water.

Though, I am REALLY looking forward to playing Halo 3 and I'm probably just as excited about as the next guy (or girl), even I've got a few things to point out.. but it's all just opinionated stuff. It's like committing some type of heresy when someone states an "opinion" directed toward this Bungie title.

Ok, so far.. all the single player vids bore me to hell, but they look pretty so they continue to hold my interest.
