I love the world, and I believe in the promise of this game, but...I find the electricity/lightning powers incredibly boring :(

Me too. Hopefully they become better as the game goes along.

Say you want to get from one end of city to the other, how do you get there? Do you have to go on foot, can you drive cars, is there a "quick travel" function like Oblivion?

edit: Oh actually I remember that demo where the guy was riding on top of a train.

They've only shown the train, I assume later on he'll get powers to help him get across the city quicker we've only seen in videos zip lining across high wires and a little hover at the moment.

He can't use guns or cars because they blow up when he attempts to use them due to his electricity.

I'm really looking forward to this, the 'charged objects' in the interview made me giggle with joy.

Sorry sucker punch, you guys are incredible and all with Sly Cooper series on your resume and all.... but Prototype has raised the standard's exponentially high when it comes to superhero abilities in a free forming environment.

Hope you guys delay it add more substance. Peace.
Have to agree here. Prototype's new video left me with a "holy shit this is awesome!" feeling while inFamous just didn't look all that hot despite having better graphics and effects. I'll probably buy Prototype while giving this one a rental.

If Prototype is so good, why not just post in that thread?

The traversal aspects look like Sly Cooper taken to the next level. I would love to see these guys do a next gen Sly.

I've seen both and there seems to be more you can do in Infamous in terms of gameplay other than just meleeing the crap out of everything, there's actually some platforming in Infamous.

There are so many aspects of InFamous that really appeal to me, but the electricity-based attacks leave me completely cold. I've never liked electricity as a weapon in any game, as it never feels very satisfying or powerful. The "bzzzzzzt bzz bzzz bzzzzt" sound of shocking someone is never as rewarding as the pop of a gun, the thud of a blunt melee weapon or the slice of a blade.

This game needs an orchestral score, electronic/techno-esque score, custom soundtracks.... Anything to fill up the silence I keep hearing when Cole is sprinting around the city.

GTTV Now on PlayStation Network
Posted Feb 13, 2009 12:02 pm

Today we're excited to announce that GameTrailers TV is now available on the PlayStation Network Video Store. That's right: You'll be able to download episodes of the show every week. You can watch a trailer announcing this groundbreaking deal with PlayStation here: http://is.gd/jr67

This announcement is appropriate because next week's GTTV is all about Infamous, the exclusive PS3 open world game. Just yesterday I shot the show in Seattle with Sucker Punch, and we'll be showing you LOTS of new exclusive content. You'll meet the first boss, see the fight against her, and see a new trailer, cutscenes and other content.

Have a great weeekend,

Geoff

Must watch on tv or gametrailers.com. Do not buy from PSN store :lol

Sweet can't wait to see it, BTW do you have to pay for GTTV on PSN?

Yes. i think it was $1.99 or $2.99 either way that's just too much to get something for free already.

Using TDK music eh. Is the soundtrack for the game still not done? Isn't this supposed to be out in a couple of months?

I'd be keen to them using TDK, or very similar style of music, for the soundtrack. Fit the cutscene well.

The director of inFamous said that Batman Begins was one of the influences for this game.

Ok, I am sure it plays fine but damn, that is one ugly ass game, worst than R2 and almost as bad as Confrantation.

It looks like it's missing another layer or two, and everything looks generic as hell, what happened to their artists after Sly?

Yep, this is one fucking hideous game. What the hell? They want it to be like a comic, make it look like a comic. I couldn't look at this for 20 hours. I bet it'll bomb hard.

Yeah no its not.

it's open ended and it's running at a stable frame rate. GTA couldnt do that.
You're high, the videos released about a month ago that are up on Gamersyde show it dropping well into the low 20s.

hmnn.. they took fun lessons from Crackdown.. game looks like amazing fun.. is there co-op?

what made crackdown fun to you must be different than what made it fun to me.

from what i know this game doesn't let you go anywhere in the game world whenever you want, it is pretty linear.

it also doesn't have a levelling up system that let's you specialize as you see fit.

it also doesn't seem to have the same cool sense of vertigo you would get jumping from the top of crazy high buildings.

i'd love for the above to be wrong though and for this game to have something similar to the above.

CES presentation, you mean? I'm looking at the vids on GT right now, and the game looks stable as all hell, running at a smooth clip even during that 4th of July climax.

erm...it's not correct. It's actually the literal opposite of what the developers were hoping for - that is, giving the player an environment that spawns opportunities depending on what he or she decides to explore and/or take part in.

I really hope they fix the graphical issues with the game. Hell, Sony - give these guys a lending hand. You could use the exclusives right now.

so the whole or most of the city is available to players from the start till the end of the game?

if so i'm happy!

I think maybe you were thinking about Prototype, apparently that's not quite the open world game we've been lead to believe.

For some reason I didn't expect Infamous to have some vulgarity.I was surprised when they censored a word in the cutscene.

creating chaos with super powers is fun to me (hopefully in co-op). it's not the SAME as crackdown but there IS a sense of vertigo though as it seems..

Didn't know it was linear though..

anyway.. it looks like fun to me.

You know..I honestly feel glad I don't have expectations as high as some of yo guys, because that looked pretty goddamn nice to me, and honestly i wonder how many games do you guys actually enjoy a year 3?

EDIT holy shit that's as close to the rip off to the joker theme I think you can get without a lawsuit :)

I really like the cinematic in the game. It gives the game more personality.

IIRC, parts of the world are blocked off when you start the game.

Ok, so I saw the show. Game's looking good in almost all fronts, but I'm not liking the fact that there appears to be a lack of variety in terms of environments: they mostly look the same. Also, I reeeally wish this game doesn't take itself too seriously: I want the *fun* factor to be present at all times.

Just not feeling the Darth Sidious lightning out of the hands gameplay here. It's so.... boring.

Hmmm .. that blog video is definitely better. I like how free-form everything is and the platforming looks very well done.

Maybe they'll add a jungle, space or desert environment to Empire City.
