IGN: New Gravity Rush 2 Details and Impressions

Beautiful :)

I suspect this will be the game to finally make me buy a PS4. I loved the original on Vita, and the world and art design look so much improved here. I can't wait to just soar around this big, beautiful city.

JUPITER
“In contrast to the Lunar Style, there’s a style which makes Kat heavier, which we call Jupiter Style. She becomes slower but her attack power is increased… the Gravity Kick doesn’t become the Wormhole Kick, it becomes the Surge Kick, which can destroy lots of enemies – pretty much anything in the nearby area.”

The delayed impact effect on the Surge Kick wasn't really clicking for me in the PGW build. Hopefully they've improved the initial impact or just got rid of the delay.

Remastered version. Idk what im doing wrong but my control with the gravity is terrible
There is a "motion control" option that I believe is enabled by default; have you tried turning that off? I was struggling with the controls at first, but once I turned the motion controls off, I mastered it quite quickly.

My favorite part of the original game was just flying/falling around to be honest. I hope the sequel still has plenty of cool things to land on and stick to while just looking at the beautiful environment in first person mode. In addition to doing this on buildings GR1 had several places you could do this that moved:
-the trains
-the airships (and not just the ones that Kat can specificaly get a "ride" on - you can get yourself stuck to all of them)
-the carousel in Pleajune
-the gondolas in Vendrecentre

There are probably others I may be missing. I can't wait to fly around the new city in GR2 and just absorb the environment.

And for a previous poster that said that they couldn't get a grip on the controls (was that a pun?) there is an option to disable the gyro controls or to minimize how sensitive they are - that helped me a lot.

First game has become an all-time favorite for me and this looks to be expanding on it in all the right ways.

Can't wait. My most anticipated game right now.

I really wanted to like GR1 but it was just too shallow for me. I hope GR2 fleshes out the mechanics a bit, I love the visual style and atmosphere. The Lunar/Jupiter stuff sounds promising.

Oh man! I cannot wait! I surely hope they have a playable demo at E3! I know the article mentions an "E3 demo," I'm just assuming it's playable, or will be, anyway.

EDIT: Never mind, I just finished reading the article, in its entirety, and it seems to be a playable demo! Yes!

In the TGS trailer the army infantry were shooting off-screen...

But in the new screenshot you can see the nice bullet impact.

I enjoy the first game but the environment and color palette here look so much better than the piss filter and odd colors of the first. I am definitely looking forward to this.

are they targeting 30 or 60fps for gravity rush 2?
Densely detailed, fast-travel open-worldish game with lots of environment physics objects, high quality shadows, parallax occlusion mapping, motion blur, battle transparencies.. you'd be lucky to get this at 60fps from a AAA western developer.

Even the AA/AF look pretty decent, since TGS!

Thanks for those gifs shin-ra, quite a bit of footage there I don't remember seeing. Game looks absolutely amazing, can't wait for it.
I'm still spotting new things!

Like the cracks in the pillars and colourful dissolve effect on the stone here.

I like how the smoke from this rocket looks like a continuous 3D trail instead of lots of overlapping 2D billboards.

All these screenshots and gifs looks amazing. I can't believe it, I'm so happy this game is getting such a high quality sequel. Hopefully they get some good exposure at E3, I just want to see more.

I forget this game exists like every single week only to be reminded every time I see or hear anything about it that it's one of my most anticipated games.

Since people are talking about the music, Kohei Tanaka has said that there will be a significant increase in the amount of music for the sequel. He actually wrapped up the soundtrack at the end of March.
