IGN or Gamespot - Who are you using for your E3 stream?

I'm just going to lap up all the arguements on GAF over the poor quality screencaps, make up my own mind what looks amazing and what sucks and then upload the high res videos a few days later.

i already signed up for ign. gamespot will follow on 1st may. i must have acces to all of the media. but i hope they will bove get back to the shaky handicam fotage, cause last year the covering was shit.
anyway they will not have a choise with the Wii only on the showfloor.

I think you'll find most worthwhile things for free on the net shortly after it happens, which is good enough for me, but I thought I would share this experience.

I had an IGN subscription for last year and although they generally have way better videos for most games (the only worthwhile service they provide), they were absolute shit for e3.

Gamespot - if you fuckers freeload and jump on my paid-for stream, I'll start stabbing.

And - since we're all gonna be downloading the SAME videos, would BitTorrent be of any help? Someone could set up a tracker, and etc, for GAF.

yea i have both, but both have different things to offer. But if we're talkin bout a live point here, Gamespot takes that cake with ease. They are very experienced with it from their weekly show, and during E3 they basically have their own live TV channel. They have a guide to whats going on and when. Last year was great, it mostly takes place in their booth(which has a stage, and its right between the Sony and Nintendo booth) But they also had one of their staff guys run around the booths with a camera guy live, and its very awesome. Their best thing they did last year (imo) was when they had eiji aonuma on stage playing the whole Zelda demo and then had a trivia contest for us, which was for a signed copy of the ds zelda trailer(also signed by miyamoto)

Yeah, that was awesome last year. Lost of developer interviews etc. I spend all evenings (timedifference) watching it. IGN had something similar, but GS had the better show.

Neither IGN nor GS have posted their plans regarding their E3 live shows yet, have they?

Hey, Shinobi!

:lol Looking to use my ass again eh? I'd better get something for it this year!

Thanks for the help (not!). Anyways, signed up with Gamespot and their totalaccess plan. Did you know that high speed downloads equal 150kb/sec? :/

So, I can pay $20 and get the news as it happens, or wait an hour until the conference ends and get it for free? I'll take free thanks.

Probably IGN. Never been a huge fan of Gamespot, and ever since I heard them in their horrible redneck glory via the podcast I'm even more wary.

The site has been extremely unreliable for the past year, I wonder how it will stand up to E3 when there's still a week to go and it's already down.

gamespot.com is down for me, this is the message i got

same here.

To be honest, Gamespot made some chanegs a few months back whcih werent very good. Things like the forums were put on beta and havent improved since. I dotn know why they did that.

I just watched the 2 hour Gamespot E3 2005 thing (lying in bed, late in the UK etc).

Forgetting that the movie thingy wasn't bad, I can't believe I just spent 2 hours watching a documentary about E3.

Hopefully gametrailers.com server holds up well during E3. I don't remember them having the whole entire footage of all press conferences though.

I remember a year ago GAF did win an E3 dvd set. I ended up winnin but those dvds they gave away was very well put together. Included all the press conferences and everything.

Between TechTV, G4, and randomly leaked *.mov streams, I've never missed a conference in the last four years.

Never paid an extra dime. Don't see why anyone would.

This year I have GameSpot Total Acess and IGN Insider accounts. I'll also be viewing GameTrailers and 1up for updates. I want to see which site is the best for E3 coverage first hand. So I can make an informed decision next year.

Gamespot has another fucking amazing lineup.

-over 25 hours of LIVE coverage. 50% better resolution on em too. thank god. it was awesome last year but quality sucked.

-Also if you scroll down the link the editors will update this video blog throughout E3 too.

If you go to the subscriber zone, it says you wil have access to the full Nintendo and MS conference streams. No mention of Sony, and it doesn't explicitly save "Live" streams either.

The 50% bigger resolution applies to the 700k stream only, just so you know. If you are a subscriber and watch On the Spot this week, check out 700k to see how it is. The only difference is the vast majority of our webcasts E3 will be using a widescreen player instead of a 4x3 player.

Stay tuned for more details tba.

Um, how does Gamespot cope with multiple account use? I'm about to subscribe and I'd like my brother to have the possibility to use / watch the E3 stuff too. Worka or no worka?

Dave, are you guys streaming/showing the Sony conference this year? That's pretty much all I need to know...

Is there any site which has a thing where you can just subscribe for the duration of E3? I don't really have a need for a whole year or 6 months or whatever subscription, but it'd be nice to have access to the high res E3 vids. I saw that Gamespot had a special E3 signup page thingy but when you click on it it just goes to the regular subscription signup.
