IGN Review: World Ends With You

I'm definitely going to pick this up.

The premise looks great. I need more stylish RPGs that take place in modern settings. Cool use of pins too.

Crisis Core? Crisis Chore? Crisis Bore? I wonder if they knew what they were doing when they named it thus! :lol

Anywho, I'm REALLY looking forward to this game. It just looks so amazing and different!

I really want to give this game a run but my backlog is sooo out of control.

Thanks for throwing salt on the wound. I will play through it at some point though since I deserve the punishment.

I could not resist that damn pre-order UMD case...

yeah, actually I've played the import of this a while ago. From my (limited) experience, it seemed a little difficult and slow moving around during battles since you have to drag the guy with the stylus. Other than that, it seemed really cool. The music really fit in with the whole theme and the powers were really varied (even though I only used like 3).

Will definitely pick this one up.

So true. CC was one of the biggest pieces of shit ever for such a hyped game. The character's personalities were awful, as was their artwork. *shutters*

I'd tell you what I think, but my DMW is still spinning.

Also for all the Nomura haters(like me) it is important to note that he supposedly only had a limited hand in the game. If I remember correctly it was coming up with the base concept, which knowing him was probably something along the lines of "Kids in shibuya with hip hop and belts and psychic powers!!!". On top of that he did the character designs for the two main heroes.

it's not really overreacting it's just standard banned meme stuff.
The banned meme is actually spoiling the score, not spoiling the stupid extra stuff that nobody reads and leaving the actual score unspoiled in plain sight.

This game just came out of nowhere for me. I wasn't that hyped for it until about a week ago, and then the hype went through the roof after reading some previews and watching some movies. I'm definitely buying this to support the effort and SE should be commended for making such a innovative game.

Awesome. Mod-sanctioned Crisis Crap hate thread is born?!

What fucking irks me the most about that shit-smear of a game is that had they not straddled the combat system line between the fully real-time action of Kingdom Hearts and the pseudo turn-based ATB, they might have had the beginning of something interesting. But by not choosing one style over another, we instead get this hobbled, shackled, excuse of a combat system instead.

Oh i know, but it seems like a fairly unobjectionable extension of the policy

I also like how the Missions - the most handheld-friendly aspect of the game - basically amounted to a set of repetitive corridors set in a few basic areas ending with a slightly more difficult than usual enemy. All of them were EXACTLY the same, with no variation whatsoever.

I remember one mission was like "GO TO FORT CONDOR AND INVESTIGATE" and I was all "HOLY SHIT FORT CONDOR", but actually it was just fucking wandering around the same goddamn desert again.

This is the game that broke the camel's back and got me to buy a DS. It should be arriving any day now.

Wait? Crisis Core is bad?! JGAF was mostly positive I thought. I intentionally avoided the official thread because I didn't want to spoil the story.

Then again my tastes differ significantly from JGAF.

Crisis Core actually has worse sidequest missions than in Mass Effect. That takes skill.

people hate Crisis Core? I was under the assumption after reading last year's impressions that it was the best Nomura game evar, didn't read one hateful comment about the game.

Crisis Core is fucking terrible. There are a core set of like... 10? story missions, IIRC, about 300 of the worst-designed optional missions you could possibly imagine. At least Mass Effect only gave you a few dozen of the worst sidequests imaginable. As for the core gameplay? The leveling, equipment, and combat systems are a joke. The materia system is almost amusing, but it doesn't hold up the rest of the game. It's a total shambles.

Haha, so true. But you LIE about the lack of variation. Most of those missions provide for "different map configurations" by arbitrarily blocking off corridors with the impassible red-dots-of-entrapment! ;p

That statement carries a lot of weight with me because I fucking hated ME side quests.

The most hilarious thing is that there are 300 of these missions, which actually take longer to get through that the extremely short and hamfisted main storyline.

So over 50% of the game is designed like this shit

That's not variation. That's a fucking card trick.

JGAF recommended Crisis Core AND Phantom Hourglass while DISSING World Ends With You.

They cannot be trusted when it comes to portable games.

I did find it cute that one of their maps was set on Chocobo Farm.

That was the best thing of ANY of the I dunno 150 fucking missions I actually sat through.

OF course, even that had a flaw. The map was designed like this huge, open world set but had INVISIBLE WALLS EVERYWHERE :lol

I never knew where to fucking go because who knows what is blocked off!

Not EVERYWHERE. Just the four sides of arbitrarily-decided square map... like all of Mass Effect's sidequest "worlds". ;p

plus there's no real hugging wall avoidance of the near non-stop random battles in Chocobo Farm map since there technically are no walls, except the invisible ones which you can never fucking know where they are

Why did the TWEWY IGN review thread turn into a bitchfest about CC?

I'll be picking up TWEWY eventually, but probably not until it reaches a reasonable ($30) price point...

Crisis Snore. Crisis Abhor. Crisis Deplore. Crisis Ignore. Crisis No-More (Please).

Sorry, looked like fun.

All threads about games Nomura was involved in devolve into bitching about his past games as well as belts/zippers.

Anyway, glad I clicked on this thread because it has saved me from spending $40 on CC.

Sorry about turning this into a Crisis Core thread I just think a lot of us CC purchasers are bitter that the game sucked quite as badly as it did! This game has Nomura stank on it so understandably washed off a bit.

That said, fuck Crisis Core.

Oh...

Yeah, this will probably suck, then.

Bebpo is like 0 for 1000.

I was so hyped for this until you said that, Amir0x. Thanks a lot.
Haha, I thought the exact same thing when I read that.

Excellent! :D

More fun than the actual game, amirite?!
Dunno, never played it. I rather dislike the FFVII world. That, and I don't own a PSP.

Now, talk about TWEWY. Personally, my favorite songs are Twister, Long Dream, and Someday. What's your guys's?

That said, fuck Crisis Core.

Nomura should apologize to US.

That said, all CC inspired me to do was replay FFVII, which I LOATHED when I was younger, but now find myself appreciating quite a bit more. Actually, I never had the stomach to fully complete it. This was my first truly ace play-through.

Pity that my "reward" for finishing it was having Crisis Core's fecal matter smeared all over my beloved PSP! ;p

Wow. I'm impressed at the number of people who hate Crisis Core. I thought I was crazy for a second.

Anyway, don't sleep on The World Ends With You -- it's really light years better than Kingdom Hearts and Crisis Core.

Glad I clicked on this thread since I was thinking about picking up Crisis Core along with TWEWY. Now I only have to worry about one game sucking.

To reign in my CC-loathing, I'll list my favorite songs from the JP OST:

Long Dream
Calling
Hybrid
Fighting for Freedom
Satisfy
Detonation
Noisy Noise
Shibuya
Make or Break

Getting banned for "spoiling" a review score while allowing the highlighting of text and its subreview score categories is the most retarded thing I've ever fucking witnessed on a gaming forum. It's just a score what's the big deal? No one gets banned for posting magazine review scores and why should they for any of this? Ridiculous.

From the official thread it seems like a lot of the people who played it liked it though. I'm surprised none of them has showed up here.

It's probably just for a week. There's a crackdown on certain (very tired) memes. Trying to dance around those banned memes is probably not a good idea, especially if you're a repeat offender! :lol

Tell me about it. I got banned for a month for indirectly rickrolling.
