IGN decided to take the recently released PC title, Darwinia a spin and came out impressed:

9.0 - Presentation
Darwinia is presented with style. The manual. The loading screens. The story. The world itself. It's all neat-o keen.
9.0 - Graphics
There are no ultra high-ploy models or detailed bump mapped textures. But there is a whole lot of attention to retro style.
8.5 - Sound
The soundtrack is very good here and great attention has been taken to make sure sound is everywhere and in everything.
8.5 - Gameplay
This is a great game. Pathfinding issues can bring gameplay down a tiny bit, but aren't enough to kill the goods. This is gameplay designed to make a gamer gleeful.
7.5 - Lasting Appeal
This isn't a long game. I've played with the editor a bit and played through older missions again, but the fun won't last forever.
8.8 - OVERALL (out of 10 / not an average)
INFORMATION:
http://darwinia.co.uk/
"Nearly three years after taking the underground gaming scene by storm with Uplink, Introversion Software is poised to release its follow-up title, Darwinia. Combining fast paced action with strategic battle planning, the game features a novel and intuitive control mechanism, a graphical style ripped from 80's retro classics, and a story concerning a tribe of video game sprites trapped in a modern 3d game world."

Been looking forward to this for a while. I'm not into PC gaming much, but I'll make an exception for this. It looks slick.

Oh and it is! I imported it when it came out for the UK and it's a genuinely awesome game.

The demo is a short example but it should show you the possible depth. Of course the actual game past that point is better and more involving but it's a demo after all. Unfortunately it hardly gives any sort of tutorial at all (the actual game does however) but don't let that put you off. I will gladly offer any pointers or assistance to those who are having trouble with the title.

For those of you who want to support Indie Game Developers this product is an excellent way to start.

No I don't believe they have. Atleast my search of their forums haven't provided any results.

Here are some great images from the game:

Sorry for not posting the images directly but I'm trying to make the thread 56k friendly.

I just played the demo, fun game! I turned on two satellites and point them at each other but it just didn't do much. I discovered how to make rockets by accident.

You use the satellites to transport your troops across the water. It's mainly used to transport the Darwinians (the little green men) and the Squad (the red weapons outfit). The Engineers (the energy collectors) can cross the water however without any trouble, just be sure the area is safe since they get taken down rather quickly.

Once you have the satellite pointed at another one select either an Officer (the ones with the flag that all the Darwinians follow) or a Squad and right click (or left) the satellite to transport them across.

After playing the demo for a bit, I went out earlier to see if the local importer had a copy. He did, so, yay!
I'm not entirely enamoured with the mouse gesture system, but it's such a nice looking game. The Clive Sinclair knockoff is pretty neat.

Musashi Wins!

FLAWLESS VICTOLY!
Really fun game. I just recently picked it up so I haven't given it it's proper due, but what I've played I enjoy. It's beautiful.

The Sensible Software bit just freaked me out. Good job!

Actually, all of the openings I've seen so far are excellent.
