The trailer was amazing--

I was amazed that someone would spend that much time making a three minute trailer entirely about something that is a guaranteed AO rating in America, the violent death of a child. Might as well have showed a piece of feces jumping up out of a toilet bowl into someone's rectum in slow motion. End result's the same. Doesn't bode well for the game if the project manager is that clueless about the American market.

is that really true??? when thinking of the analogous R rated zombie flicks there doesnt seem to be much difference in content...

I like how some people get all uppity when games or movies depict children being killed/dead children. We don't mind the 50.000 dead people, but there had better not be a person under 18 in there!

I'm still waiting for the day that we get a zombie outbreak survival game played from the perspective of a small group of 8-12 year olds. Have the outbreak start while they're at school. It would present all kinds of potentially amazing situations.

Playing as the little girl in Siren Blood Curse was fear inducing. More of that please.

Games =/= movies and that's fucking that (according to laws/rules)

Danielsan, that idea is fucking rad as hell

i would sell stuff from my mothers house without her permission to be able to pre-order a game like that, even if it was from that developer that just made clones of games for iphone.

No, America. Showing a bleeding girl dying on a bed, then coming back to life and being thrown out a window is AO content.

I doubt that. There's the conceit that she's a) a zombie and b) gets thrown out of a window in the first place because she was trying to chew on brains. You're supposed to feel for the girl turning into a zombie - you're not supposed to feel for the zombie.

Seen the pilot episode of The Walking Dead? A 5-year-old zombie girl is shot right between the eyes. And this is Sunday night television.

She didn't even have her neck chewed out. I don't see what the problem is.

How to create buzz for a game with a low marketing budget? Just ring Hilary from IGN and watch the show :)
The video seems to suggest that the marketing budget is not as low as you'd think. CG movies that exist solely as a promotion tool don't pay for themselves.

However if the zombies bikini had come off, then we'd be talking about the unacceptable. ;)

Nice trailer, going with the PR it sounds it is trying to be a little different from what's already out there (RE, DR, L4D). I wouldn't mind a serious story and RPG elements in my zombie hack-a-ton. Though the tropical island setting doesn't interest me much. After reading Cronin's The Passage recently, I'd love to play a game dealing with the first hours, days, weeks of an outbreak in an urban setting.

Awesome trailer. One of the best cinematics I've seen since The Old Republic & Bioshock 2's launch trailer. Not sure which version I like best: the original version, or the one that is reversed so it plays in forward time.

I'll keep an eye out for this game. I hope it follows through on what they say about it, but I'm not completely sold yet.

FINALLY a game with zombies in it. I can't believe it took developers so long to realize how popular they are right now. If only the movie/TV industry would realize that as well. Can't believe that those and vampires are almost forgotten nowadays..

trailer is really good though, at least from an artistic standpoint, faces and animations look a bit strange

Trailer was pretty good, musical accompaniment fit really well with what they were trying to show, is this supposed to be more story driven compared to games like Left 4 Dead?

Kudos to whoever did that. Ugh, I don't know why, but that trailer just rubs me the wrong way. The whole throwing her out the window thing, I dunno... maybe it's because the character models are in some weird purgatory between cartoony and almost-realistic (uncanny valley?). Just plain disturbing.

yea, it would've been cool if they made the zombie girl falling and licking her fingers like she just ate some popeyes chicken.

Together?

Yes.

It would run on CryEngine 3.
At 60fps thanks to massive optimisations from Infinity Ward.
With the zombie creativity of Capcom, Valve, SCEJ, Team Silent (reformed) and Treyarch.
Rockstar, Volition, Bethesda, 2K Czech, Avalanche Studios, Sucker Punch and anyone else who can lend a hand will model the entire USA.
Turn 10 and Polyphony can handle car modelling (well Turn 10 at least lol) - the kids can't drive (at first), but they could grow up.
Blizzard could manage the MMO side of things.
Gearbox and Epic can make weapons.
Naughty Dog and Ubisoft can do animation.
2K, Naughty Dog and Valve will handle the storytelling.
NaturalMotion will supply their physics and Euphoria tech.

Game of forever.

Bioware should do the story IMO.

Conversation with Zombie.

"Rooaarr"

o- Hug Zombie
o- Walk away
o- Whack Zombie

Hug Zombie - Paragon points

Whack Zombie - Renegade points

Or maybe it's the other way around. I think Bioware's finally found the twist to their formula.

Wow, that trailer was emotional and depressing. Well done, though.

Nice to see this game is still alive. At least it looks like a real SURVIVAL zombie game, for a change. I'm not so sure about the quality, though. Plus originaly the game was going to have only slow zombies, now they have different speeds? Fuck that.

Wow.... Can't believe there are people who didn't like the Trailer!!

It was done so beautifully.... so emotional and sad, one of the best trailers for a very long time..... one I will keep going back and re-watch it over and over again .

Trailer was very well done. Sod all gameplay though, so the game could suck obviously. Still, the trailer did its job and got me interested.

It was manipulative and self-wankering.

Also, it showed nothing resembling a video game.

It's cute as a commercial or short for an art movie festival or whatever, but useless as a video game trailer.

It's a great trailer. I hope some of that emotional is present in the game and it's not just a vehicle to get us interested in what will really be "Dead Rising: On an Island!!!!" (not that I wouldn't buy that lol).

I know it's unrelated but the girl with the slingshot, all I can think of "Young Zoey"

"Useless as a video game trailer", lol. this trailer is already more viral than any normal gameplay trailer of a medium budget game like this one could ever be. It's an "announcement trailer", it got people to sit up and take note. it did that very well.

"Going viral" is just the hipster/internet way of saying "flash in the pan."

Most people will forget about this in a day or two.. and unless they come back with something showing a game that isn't a middling FPS shoehorning every popular bullet point of the moment into it, what will the trailer and the overblown internet hype have accomplished? All they've done with this is built up a level of expectation they can not likely deliver on.

Does the ESRB rate TV now? No, they do not. And there's a difference between a zombie girl and a distressed live girl being grabbed, bitten on the leg and cut on the neck and then seconds later being thrown out a window while the camera focuses on her very non-zombified face all the way down (up).

Regardless of the ratings problem of the content, the content is tawdry sensationalism drawn out and cut to be "edgy". It's just a cheap emotional ploy like the end of Old Yeller or Marley and Me instead of something that evinces character. The best you can say about it is that at least at no point in her slow, sadistic death did the little girl get her shirt ripped off, nor was she set on fire. No kittens were set on fire either, that's a plus.

Life must suck through your eyes.

Wow, everyone seems to be mixed between "great trailer" and "stupid trailer".

Frankly I thought this was one of the best bits of zombie short film I've ever seen. Seriously, one of the best. Tragic, sad, the fucking music is awesome.

for those moaning about the (awesome) trailer not being indicative of the game, surely we learnt as much from that as we would a stupid hollywood style trailer which shows tiny clips of in game action meshed into one incoherent mess.

What we learnt was the setting, some of the cast, what the zombies were like, how far the game was willing to go, that its going to be brutal and how ambitious it is. In general it just set the tone - which is a darn sight more helpful than say a shot of a melee combo then a shot of jumping over a fence then a shot of opening a door and finishing with a shot of getting killed. All those scenes taken out of context could be in any game ever and leaves you with nothing.

The trailer has set expectations for technical excellence, sophisticated storytelling, interesting scenario and a no holds barred scare-fest. Bit unfair to slag it off because the game might not live up to it.

The trailer is a lot less pointless than all the posts banging on about how pointless it is!

Im much less cynical about these things so I guess I liked the trailer for what it is. I don't know what you guys were expecting from it, its not a high profile title, and with a smaller budget.

Just makes me wish there were more episodes of The Walking Dead on TV now instead of having to wait till fall.

It would be cool if someone actually made a video game that was as depressing as the trailer. Ya know, something that actually pulls at something other than my trigger finger and does it in a way that is effective. Ya know, like a game that doesn't fall flat on its face when it tries to go beyond just being action oriented. (Maria!) Not gonna happen but whatever. Zombie game with zombies here we come.
