I say IGN made this stuff up and pulled it to make it seem true.Mr.Ressetti said:I am starting to believe this, since IGN removed the story :S

Damn I hate IGN.
GamerZero said:Wii advanced media network also had this rumor posted (I think before IGN did) and now it has been removed also.

I'd wager they studied the market and apparently learned that the tallying up specs to price crowd isn't that significant compared to the rest.Mooreberg said:Puts them in a nice position relative to the other systems' prices, but still seems like too much given the specs.
Yeah, that seems really weird. Several years back I was all about the possibility of merging the handheld and console lines by making a portable GameCube, but now it doesn't make great sense. DS backwards compatibility will be much more important than GameCube backward compatibility, and GCN discs are even less portable-friendly than UMDs.Mr.Ressetti said:Gameboy Revolution Confirmed ?
"IBM may be working on a revised Broadway chip with a lower clock speed for a future Nintendo handheld -- presumably one that plays GameCube discs.
IGN is the new sponge.Y2Kevbug11 said::lol
This popped into my head too. IGN doesn't get any freebie when it comes to credibility after their week-by-week HUGE GAME COMING ZOMG bullshit.
Nintendo would be rubbing a little close to a possible 360 core pricedrop if they were to do that, but I doubt early adopters are going to go looking for a Wii and come home with a 360 instead.

IGN and AMN conspiricy I tell ya.GamerZero said:

IGN totally made that stuff up and just pulled it to make it seem real, damn you IGN.
Cosmonaut X said:Don't really understand why they leapt straight into "OMG - will play 'Cube discs!" on that one. Nintendo's approach - especially with handhelds - is to make robust hardware with minimal load times.
DSN2K said:thats a dangerous price point,
possible it could go head to head with 360 core at that price come November.
Fireblend said:That's also a possibility. Seems like IGN's desperate for attention lately, I wouldn't be surprised.

Using a Gekko/Broadway-variant processor, though, sure. Some GameCube games ported/rereleased for it, sure. Using that similarity of processor between GCN/Wii/next portable to port over the Virtual Console emulators, sure.

That's a bad idea as discussed way back since publishers would be allowed to ignore the remote, destroying it's purpose. A second Wiimote with Nunchuck included would be totally sweet, though.Oblivion said:Hopefully it'll be bundled with a game and/or classic controller.

Gigglepoo said:I don't believe the Wii will cost $229. Has Nintendo ever released a system that cost more than $199?
Actually, if I'm not mistaken, Nintendo has never taken a lose on any of their consoles.Fatghost said:No, we expect hardware makers to take a loss on console hardware because every one has taken a loss at launch, except for 3D0 and SNK, and now Nintendo.
Eh, I don't know what people are ****ing bitching about. You've got a slightly more powerful Xbox with something entirely worthless, a controller needed to play the games, and some roms with emulators.
