I have never ignored anyone on any forum or in any online game. I just don't see the point. If you don't want to read their post, why not just skip past it?
I try to be as tolerant as possible (in real life too) and I am not going to just ignore someone because I think they are stupid or annoying.

A user at the SomethingAwful forums had something like 10,000 users ignored. It actually brought the forums down. Afterward, a limit of 100 users was imposed...morningbus said:
