I'll say it, I just find taking showers extremely inconvenient

Real talk, hot showers are the greatest. They just feel good. I feel good getting ready for the shower, I feel good showering, and I feel good immediately after. Seriously, showering's the best. I spend like, 20-25 minutes showering a day (I brush my teeth while showering too). It's where I just relax and contemplate life.

I just wish I could justify showering more often.

OP, not only are you a crazy person, but you're also dirty. You should probably shower.

I feel the same way, sometimes OP. There are days when I'd rather not go through the hassle to prepare for a shower, but I value my hygiene. A hot shower feels great.

Also, quick question:

Is it a general consensus that taking baths is gross?

I love taking baths, but everyone I know says it's disgusting and they foster bacteria and basically it's like you soaking in your own dirt. Does anyone else feel this way or feel differently?

It's not necessary to show often if you don't sweat that much. I'll shower every third or fourth day depending on how my workout goes. I also think it's inconvenient.

You should thank people like my wife and I who shower infrequently. We save a ton on water. So while you're wasting it with your daily shower, we're helping to ensure your children having water when they grow up. You're welcome.

Finally i now understand what's going on in the head of smelly people.

If you're going to take a nice bath then shower first. I mean, you shower before you get in the swimming pool, right?

20 minute process? Gee, try camping in the outdoors and you'll find that lots of washing and cleaning is very possible within 3 minutes. I get dirty all the time with work and outdoor activities so it makes for good practice to take quick showers while maintaining cleanliness.

I sincerely hope that nobody is leaving the shower running for 20 minutes. With an average flow of water of around 2 gallons per minute, a 20 minute shower can be upwards of 40 gallons - which is surely a waste just to clean your body.

Also, I was born in a very poor country in which the infrastructure only allowed a tiny stream out of the faucet which we would collect in a 2 or 3 gallon bucket. That would be enough to wet yourself and rinse. The actual soaping and cleaning doesn't require any water at all.

One last thing - I think people appear more sociable when they don't smell awful.

I'd love to, my winter itch shins would love to, but it isn't gonna happen. I'll cut down to once a day in winter, assuming I haven't done anything physical, but I ain't missing days.

Yeah, that comes from showering TOO much. It's bad for your skin, your hair and your health.

There is no way. My hair looks horrible and greasy if I don't wash it every day and if I'm washing my hair, might as well do the rest.

It's greasy because you wash it every day (with I suppose some shampoo/conditionner thrown in).

You're removing your natural hair oil and your scalp over produces it making it greasy in a mater of hours (and probably itchy too).

Idk OP

I can get in, out,and dressed in under 7 minutes, it doesn't really take that long.

I agree that it's inconvenient to have to shower though. I generally do it every other day.

It doesn't take much time, even being thorough. In my experience, it seems a long shower is a product dozing off and daydreaming, especially in the mornings.

I'm almost always in and out in less than 10 minutes, even when I'm a zombie.

lol @ op being at least 21 and it never crossing his mind to keep his clothes on until the water is about to get warm

cmon man. you've had to be doing this long enough to get an idea of when it'll be ready instead of just standing there naked like an idiot

People prepare for a shower?

Turn water on, get naked. 20 seconds max.
I need to quickly go through my mental prep beforehand. Do I shampoo my hair today? Is it deep conditioner day? Are my legs starting to not be smooth? Which body wash should I use today? Etc. Not hard questions, but I take a shower first thing in the morning. I may love mornings, but I have to start somewhere!

This is why I despise camping. Well... for a lot of other reasons too.

And yeah, it's all possible if I go 100 miles an hour. But why would I want to? I like taking my time, making sure I go through all of my steps in a calm and efficient fashion. It's more fun that way too!

Every day I go for a swim in the ocean then come home and have a cold shower. The fucking best.

P.S If you don't shower daily and don't use deodorant etc and somehow think you don't smell, everyone you work with talks about you behind your back about how you smell like arse.
I've actually had to write out "toolboxes"(a construction industry official paperwork thing which is basically a definition of the issue, who it involves, action to be taken, and action that will happen if it's not followed through) for two people for their lack of personal hygiene because they stunk so bad. It tends to not go down so well...but if you have no respect for people who have to work with your stinky arse everyday then fuck you.

I turn on the tap and close the door while I'm getting my shaving stuff out of the cabinet under the basin. By then the water has warmed up. After my shower I put on a bathrobe and have a shave. Once that's done and I've put stuff away, I'm mostly dry except my legs. Bathrobe also keeps me warm.

The only inconvenience is cleaning down the shower but that isn't too bad. We have very hard water so we wipe down the chrome with a cloth every time.

ITT OP stinks of shit but can't smell it himself. Showering is great, sure i'd rather not have to bother but once I get in it's amazing. Mint and green tea shower gel is life.

i shower every day. it's what wakes me up so i think they are great.

on weekends though i just cant be assed. if i don't feel too gross and don't have any plans then fuck it i'm not showering.

take an orange in with you to eat. it's amazing. you'll learn to enjoy showering.

Showers are the best. I got music playing and am having a personal little concert. Probably the best part of my day.

Plus you can use the time thinking about really important stuff, for example why some people dont enjoy showers...

Showers are damn relaxing if you let them be. I shower atleast once a day, after a shower Im never freezing but Im rather relaxed and refreshed.

Wat?

People who shower once a day, before bed or when you wake up?

OP, are you also one of those people who re-use shower towels before putting them in the laundry? I can't even stand to think of re-using towels shower-to-shower. That shit has bacteria from drying your junk and booty.

"One of those people," meaning like 99% of towel-using people on earth?

Also, I'm amazed that some of you people can get dressed in the morning and hold down jobs.

I know I'm not alone.

It's just a big pain in the ass. Get undressed, get cold, wait for water to warm up, wash and enjoy for 5 minutes. Turn off water, be freezing, dry yourself, leave bathroom, be freezing. Wait to dry, get dressed.

A 20 minute process that most people don't even need. I sit at a desk all day and don't sweat at all. My heart rate is not elevated one time. I shower every other day at best.

I'm not a scumbag, I'm just not a stinky person.

FYI I'm married and my wife gives me shit sometimes, but it's not the end of the world. If I was stinky that'd be another problem.

Shower every other day? Let me tell you a secret buddy, you surely stink.

Wait wait wait. Your wife gives you shit about what I presume is body odor given the theme of the thread. And you choose to ignore that, continuing to not shower and claim you don't smell? Seriously? Dude please.

Can't say it any simpler. Eat an orange in the shower. It's so good.

Anyway, when I wake up. ALWAYS. I don't see the point showering before bed if you're just gonna get all warm/sweaty during the night.

Between this and the fedora thread it's like I've reached peak-GAF at this point... Wonder what the crossover between the two is.

Anyway, I can't leave home without ever showering. First, because warm showers are amazing and secondly, who wants to fucking smell?

I just wanted to point out that it only took a sentence after this for the irony to expose itself.

She gives you shit because you fucking smell like ass. Paolo takes showers.

OP, less this

As someone who worked in occupational health and was called many times to 'talk' to a smelly co-worker I would suggest you just shower. You're own shit doesn't smell, doesn't mean everyone else can't smell it. Seriously you don't want that conversation with whoever they get to talk to you about it. They're uncomfortable, you're uncomfortable, you'll always wonder if everyone thinks you smell. If your wife thinks you're out of order then I'd suggest you take her advice. You stink of shit, sort it.

I shower every day in the morning before I leave the house, it takes all of 5 minutes to wash my hair, face and body then dry myself.

If I don't shower I feel groggy and tired all day and my hair is matted to my head from the sleeping in a bed all night.

I can understand how people can shower or wash every other day, but to leave it 4 or 5 days is pretty grim.

I have days where I shower 3 times in one day due to going to the gym or playing sports multiple times.

2 or 3 showers a day, doesn't take more than 3 minutes each.

How can you make your wife endure this is what boggles my mind, especially if she complained about it.

And yeah, people not showering at least one per day, big spoiler : you STINK, and everybody is fucking embarassed in your presence.

I've probably hit the shower a third time maybe twice in my life lol
