Illustration from new Zelda Wii game shown

Windwaker style was doomed because of the 2000 CGI trailer. You dont hype up a Zelda being like that only to follow up in 2001 with Windwaker

I hated cell shaded Link. If it goes that way, I'm not picking it up. I wouldn't be surprised if more people liked the look of Twilight Princess than Wind Waker.

There's no accounting for taste. If its a LOTR-wannabe or OoT-style-circle-jerk again I'm not fucking buying it unless it has flawless reviews across the board. And even then I'd play through gritted teeth.

Wind Waker still looks good, twilight princess looks a fucking mess

Why can't an adult Link be cell shaded?
Theres a big difference between "cell shaded" and " WW art style". Theres nothing wrong with CS look for adult Link, RS2 and NMH are CS with adult characters. But "Adult Link" to me means "WW art style stays it's ass on the DS". I gotz no problem with it being CS.:D

Hear hear!

RagnarokX, you are truly the most underrated gif maker on GAF. :lol

Also, this whole situation is amazing. I said my piece in the round table thread, but I guess it's relevant here too. I really have to wonder whether or not Nintendo managed to get an art style going that captured the whimsy of the younger "Celda" games while maturing it to TP levels or did they forgo mixing the two and found a new design for them.

The possibilities are pretty awesome if you ask me.

Too many people pretending to be Zelda fans in here...

A REAL Zelda fan will appreciate the game no matter how it looks and not make whiny remarks about how they won't play it if it's in such or such style...

I don't even want it to be cel-shaded necessarily. Just make it distinctive; cleaner, crisper and more colourful than Twilight Princess, beautifully animated like Wind Waker, and no matter the cost -- ensure that Hyrule's inhabitants don't look like products of incest.

Oh and make it fun and all that other good stuff.

I always liked WW's environments and colors. If they could combine that with TP's designs (or any other Zelda's), I doubt many would complain unless you just really love playing as kids.

Celda worked fine with a sort child/young teen Link but the eyes just won't turn out right for an "Adult" Link. It would still have that youthful, comedic style if he's cellshaded. Just wont be right
You see, when I was a kid I feared the most when they turned Goku into an adult in Dragon Ball Z. All of his cuteness would be lost. But it ended up alright.

Sorry for neglecting that difference, but yeah I meant WW style hehe.

No artists here to render an adult Link in WW style? :P

What? I'm just going to assume this is sarcasm.

By your logic I can't be huge Star Wars fan and dislike Episodes 1-3. Fail.

There's a lot more wrong with Episode 1-3 than their overuse of CG, so no, I stand by my point...Visual style is a retarded reason to base play on, particularly for a series that one supposedly loves...

Spoken like a TRUE 1:1 3D Zelda fan.

If not cel shaded then PLEASE have a different graphical style than TP.

PLEASE. TP is so ugly and gritty!

No love is unconditional.

Sure you can be. But you wouldn't be a huge Star Wars fan if you hated the PT just because you didn't like the way it looked.

I'm starting to hate the fact that apart from vague descriptions of character concept art, we don't have any info. No trailer, no title, zip.

I mean, I do like the fact this gives me time to finish TP, OoT, ST and MM (in that order), but it still kind of sucks.

"more grown up than ever" came from IGN. The same IGN editors who jizzed over the Spaceworld 2000 demo, and who whooped and hollared at the first video of Twilight Princess. I am not hopeful of it meaning anything other than "generic"

In fact Kotaku said it looked quite "generic"

I'd love to be wrong. All my favourite Zeldas have a colourful heart to them.

Funny how you call TP generic when there has been 5 zelda games with the TWW style. Now thats generic. I'm so tired of looking at the powerpuff style link. And it seems TWW fanboys like you are really bitter about how the general public prefers the manga style. The whimsical stuff is overrated. TWW fanboys are really selfish.

Since when does the general public = overgrown, insecure man-boys in their 30s who won't wear the color purple for fear of being called gay?

Well Kotaku would probably refer to the TP art as being generic even though it was anything but

If you not picking up a copy is the cost of a new celda, then it's a price I'm willing to pay. I wouldnt be offended that you'd do the same to me for "teh realiztik" ;) :D

We don't know it's not cel-shaded. We don't know anything, honestly.

for reals. it's a bit early to be a negative nancy from what is a shot smaller than my driver's license picture, and twice as awkward and inscrutable.

and that's a feat.

Unless they plan on releasing the next Zelda game on a more powerful console, they're making a huge mistake if they aren't using cell shading.

just to know ts coming, and in 2010 is a total megaton to me

and for those saying its not in development yet... well you are giant tards. game of zelda's scale will have been in development for two years already.

can't see shit

LOL. The thread title is a little bit misleading......

From the Miyamoto Roundtable, no pictures(the one that exists Im not sure if it's even real) or videos to be taken

I suggest that you guys stop arguing about the past and think of the future.

So what we have now is a main Zelda game with an adult link, most probably controlled with the Wii motion plus and we should look at the archery and sword fight games from Wii Sports Resort to get an idea of how it will play in the next Zelda game and according to the Miyamoto's roundtable, it is intended to be releases next year (Christmas probably) but it might get delayed till early 2011.

moving on to the illustration, the girl in blue next to link has Zora-like features so I'm crossing my fingers for this girl being Nayru the Goddess of Wisdom, because that will be friggin' AWESOME!!!! for the people who are confused about how did I make that assumption, first Nayru is always associated with the color blue and second check the scene about the creation of Hyrule just after you finish the first dungeon in OOT, you'll see the three goddesses and they all have Zora-like feature. I know it's kinda bizzare but I can't keep the idea out of my mind because it's so damn cool.

That makes no sense. A Zelda game will look good by any reasonable standards, no matter the art style. When has a Zelda game not looked good?
