You know what, screw you:MoFuzz said:BTW, I clicked on this thread exepcting some kind of pseudo Jake Sully-Avatar confessional joke post. Then I realized I wasn't in the O/T forum.
Welcome to the consoles fellow Hawk. Let's soar through the skies together.Hawkian said:The PC Gaming Master Race, of course.
So at work today I was telling my fellow NOC engineer how DMC4 was on Steam and how I played the crap out of it and it was incredibly addictive and awesome on the PC. And I was explaining how the PC version was pretty objectively superior to the console version, and I would always prefer to game on the PC if I could, but sometimes the games I wanted to play most only come out for consoles.
So he says "buy a PS3." And I'm like "nah." But then he spent a solid 30 minutes (in between hard hard work of course) trying to convince me and explaining all the features and so forth and so on. And I thought about how much what I really wanted to play were Bayonetta and Uncharted 2, and how the former had seen no word on if or when a PC version might exist and the latter certainly never would get one. And I got kind of annoyed that more great games never make it to the PC.
Anyway, after work I went to the local Play 'N Trade. I asked if they had any used PS3s. The girl says no. Then she thinks and goes, "Oh, but one guy did bring one back in after a couple days. It works great though."
How is that not a used PS3? Anyway, it was brand new and they had only had it lying around for about two weeks. $250 for a 120GB slim. So I figured what the hell, pretty good deal.
Got my dad to pitch in $50 cause he wanted a blu-ray player anyway. And I figured I could use the awesome Dual Shock 3 as a Windows 7 gamepad (let me know if this site is banned or anything) as well..
So really what I wanted to say is, we should all join hands and sing together, users of keyboards and mice, joysticks and waggle, WiFi and Bluetooth and odd, haphazard combinations of proprietary formatting and copy protection and digital distribution methodologies, all blazing forth into the future, a turbulent future in which the lot of us can really only be sure of one thing after all: there will be more Mario games.
tl, dr, eh? Never thought I'd buy a console again, bought a used PS3 on impulse today, like it. It's one of those cool stories.
Oh man. That was amazing. :lolFrenck said:Well ain't that a real nice boy? Are you going to take off your uniform?
Yeah, that's what we thought. We don't like that. You see, we like our PC Elitists in uniforms, that way you can spot them, just like that.
But you gonna take off that uniform, ain't nobody gonna know you was a PC Elitist. And that don't sit well with us. So I'm going to give you a little something you can't take off.
Now you, I likewhitehawk said:Welcome to the consoles fellow Hawk. Let's soar through the skies together.

It's online if you want it to be. For the most part, you'll be able to see other players' ghosts running around. And most importantly, their death animations & usually helpful tips on the ground in form of messages (a recommended message returns your HP back to max). You can also invade other people's games to kill them etc. Or play some coop which can be helpful against bosses. But it's all optional. I've never interacted with anyone beyond messages in almost 40 hours (my character is usually dead so I can't be invadedHawkian said:I think the one I'm most likely to shell out $60 for is Demon's Souls- would that be a fair assessment? I like loooots of replay value. NG2 used is $55, Heavenly Sword $30... but Bayonetta is definitely scratching that itch for the time being. I wouldn't mind something multiplayer and non-FPS, but am I to understand that Demon's Souls is actually somehow multiplayer?
godhandiscen said:So you stoped playing PC games? I don't understand what is going on here... I don't know of a major PC supporter here on GAF who doesn't own at least one console.
Damn skippy. Filthy poors.AstroLad said:It's been said before, including in this thread, but the point bears emphasis:
If you consider yourself a gamer, the best combo is all of them, unless you're destitute in which case you shouldn't own a single console much less be deciding on the best "combo." Some people used to think getting a gaming PC was prohibitive but thanks to threads like the PC build one here it's pretty clear that's not the case at all. And the rest of the systems? In the grand scheme of things, and considering how many hours of entertainment each one will give you, you're talking pennies on the dollar.
Hawkian said:Got Demon's Souls. Minamu, you get credit. That sounds like some unique stuff right there.
These two games should last me long enough to push my PC backlog into Oblivion...![]()

I've been playing Demon's Souls for 3 hours...
I remain exactly where I was 3 hours ago. I have never felt so punished by software before.
