Yeah Backdraft and Back to the Future are gone.

Having been there many times as a so-cal resident. There really isn't any reason to skip anything. You can do everything in 1 day. I haven't been there with the whole Hogwarts stuff but I doubt it's any different.
Must rides/do:
-Studio Tour (it's the parks bread and butter)
-Harry Potter stuff (newest attractions, the main ride in there is great)
-Transformers (it's one of their newer rides, couple years new. Really cool 3D on track motion ride)
-Jurassic Park
-The Minions (their 2nd newest ride, it's a fun 3D motion ride)
-Water World show (pretty good show, it's always fun everytime)
Only if the line is short:
-The Mummy (it's a really short ride, but it's fast and dark)
-The Simpsons Ride (this one is kinda skippable imho, it's a fairly weak 3D motion ride, but the line queue is neat)
-Shrek (it's ok if the line is short and you have kids or you need a little break, it's a 3D short movie with slight 4D effects built in to the theater seats)

See I don't know, I've only been on the Orlando one. I can't imagine they're that much different. Probably just theme park connoisseurs being picky
Looked at the differences, the timing of a couple set pieces is different and the Orlando one is a little longer, but it really doesn't seem like a big deal, still probably a really good ride

Wednesdays outside of summer are the same thing but without the rain.

We went in early January this year and the lines were like 10 minutes long at most. It was great.

Shrek 4-D twice then leave
The mummy, Simpsons, and transformers are all outstanding.
Minions is cute and your kids will love it, Jurassic park is dated but it's fun.
Shrek 4d is the only waste of time on thee, don't bother.

I would suggest cutting Sherk and Mummy. Mummy is kinda cool but it's really not worth the wait. Sherk is also in the same boat.

Make sure you fully explore Harry Potter world and Simpsons land. Some really cool stuff there that I won't spoil for you. Also Grinchmas is worth seeing although its just a standard musical retelling of the movie. Sometimes the Grinch walks around and does silly stuff over there which is awesome.
It's a super small park though but definitely try and hit Studio Tour and Walking Dead after.

Was a comment about the wait time. They don't show the movies. Like if you had them on Vudu you could watch one on your phone and finish it.

Well I'm saying the wait is so long you could just watch a movie. Though showing the movies in line would be cool, unless they actually already do that!?

Did this at age 12 back in 86. Even at that young age long ago I vowed to never do it again. Went in May 13 years later, and vowed I would never do that again either. Planning on a mid-to-late January or early February. Hoping for better results. Should add that express pass will be used next time

Man. I remember Backdraft legitimately nearly made me shit myself... that was intense.
My opinions:
Simpsons: Not bad, but I wouldn't be sad if I missed it
Shrek 4-D: Was only worth the time spent when it was Terminator
The Mummy: Closest thing to a thrill ride, so we always ride this one
Minions: Don't know and don't care, honestly
Walking Dead: Was one of my favorite of their "haunted houses" at Halloween, so I'd do it
Transformers: Definitely
Jurassic Park: Just too old and sad at this point. The big drop isn't worth all the wait.
Studio Tour: Fun enough

I haven't been in a few months because they blacked out my pass for most of December.
Studio Tour is priority so do that no matter what.
I'd probably put Jurassic Park up next because it's an old favorite but it's cold outside and they got rid of the human-sized heaters when they removed the Nickelodeon Splash zone so keep that in mind.
Mummy and Transformers are both pretty good so I guess that depends on your preference but Transformers typically has the longer line.
After that, Walking Dead probably won't take too long either since it's a walkthrough maze, and Simpsons is fine too. I miss Back to the Future :/
And as for Shrek 4-D and Minions...ehhh...Minions has the tech but at the end of the day it's still Minions, and Shrek 4-D is similar to Captain EO/Honey I Shrunk the Audience at Disneyland.
And you've already taken care of Forbidden Journey so that works out. Forbidden Journey is awesome but the Hippogryph ride is not worth it unless that line is like 10 minutes or you're staying for more than a day. It's not a very good rollercoaster.
If you have time after all of this you should go see Waterworld. Because it's Waterworld.

Yep. The entire back area where Backdraft used to be is now Transformers and Back to the Future is now The Simpsons because Professor Frink time traveled and accidentally ran over the landlord for the building before Doc Brown could renew his lease which forced him to sell it to Krusty who tore it down and built Krustyland.
The Hollywood one is more rollercoaster and the Orlando one has more plot stuff. Effects-wise the Orlando one is more impressive.
Yeah, looks like you're right. I was thinking they were the same place because of them both using those 3D glasses. I just remember going once and we were "meh" on it, so we never went back. And we haven't checked out the Minions stuff because I can't stand those damn things. *heh*
