I'm done with Television

started watching some Simpsons again, randomly picking episodes. Not as good peak Simpsons, but there's still gem scattered, like 2/10 are really top tier.
Any episode focusing on Flanders is a good watch for example. Its depressing hearing Marge though, her voice actor is really getting strained.

Watch old television, it's never been easier to get old stuff. I gave up on TV a while ago, I don't know what it is but modern writing, casting, editing ,cinematography, it all has this air to it and it sucks.

That's me. It's just not worth getting invested in a show only to have it turn to shit 4 or 5 seasons in, or worse, start going heavy handed with some social agenda/propaganda.

Or you get invested early on, and a couple of years later, instead of the studio having worked on another season, it's quietly cancelled.

Have you heard of 90 Day fiance or Real Housewives. You take the worst people on the planet and put a camera in their face. Magic.

I watch none of these

I've created a library of old American, Japanese and UK television and I just watch that. Right now I'm rotating TurboRanger, A Mind to Kill, Wycliffe, Buck Rogers, William Hartnell's Dr. Who, Open all Hours and a few cartoons. A few years ago I decided that it was only going to get harder and harder to sail the high seas so I went turbo-hoarder.

The late 80s to the late 2010s was a very special time for American TV...so much awesomeness...anything that came out before or after that I find that I have to be extremely picky.

I would usually agree with this sentiment but the recent batch of shows I'm currently watching have all been really good. With the only exception being The Boys

I'm hoping the quality in regards to shows keeps up and that this isn't a fluke

Has the greatest show already been created?

All others are a pale imitation of Seinfeld.

I unplugged from cable TV about 10 years ago. I was impressed by how much time and energy opened up in my life. I haven't missed it a bit.

I will occasionally rent an old TV series (Sopranos, Game of Thrones), but even that is pretty rare. I just find that there are so much better things to do with my time than watch TV. Like post on GAF!

Even when you find a show you do like, expect to get a 10 episode season every 2 or 3 years. I liked White Lotus and Severance a lot but you finish it and then wait for the next stage in your life.

I bought a TV to play GTA VI console games on a nice OLED 120hz screen, and yeah, besides playing games (or watching Bluey), I have no interest in what's on TV.

There's plenty to watch!

NCIS
FBI
CIA
The Chicago shows on NBC
America's Got Talent
Fire Country

Even tho it's cancelled now, Watson was really good

Plus there's plenty to watch that WAS on TV but now you catch up with them and binge... Like Watson, NCIS: International... Just mostly shows on NBC and CBS

Shows definitely take too long to come out now. There's a variety of reasons why but a lot of it boils down to studios being stingy with money, the straming era making it a hungry hippos situation, cable dying, etc.

Theres definitely still good shows running though.

For me it's just everything being 50 mins, and long times before next seasons.. Like Im on season 2 of Manifest, but by the time season 2 came out it was just like... "uh... I forgot 99% of season 1? I'd have to restart-over, how many 50 min blocks is that going to be? and id have had my fill again by the time I got-back upto season 2..." The show just remains forever unfinished and half forgotten, despite me liking season 1 well enough at the time, and the show going-on to have at least 3 seasons last time i checked...

This is why I still respect the fuck out of The Walking Dead, no matter how badly most of you miserable slobs shit on it.

They gave us 16 episodes per season, every season, every single year, for 13 years. Plus multiple spinoffs. They worked hard as hell.

That show was the last of its kind. Wont see anything like it again

Bu bu they killed Glenn, I stopped watching - STFU. They actually produced episodes at a proper pace.

I will always respect The Walking Dead.
TWD largely killed off my whole interest in story-based appointment/scheduled viewing.

Build something up for half a season, kill off/change in mid-season opener. Rinse and Repeat. GTFO here with that shit.
