Im feeling disillusioned with gaming at the moment...

It most certainly does once you've read the follow up to the obvious question the talking point created.

Um.. No. The fact that a comment generates a response does not mean that the comment was relevent to the original topic. Hating FIFA has nothign to do with holding games to GAF standards.

Maybe if he'd brought up "bad art" or something.

wtf. Leave GAF.

I think Fifa 07 was the straw that broke the camel's back for me.. glitches, missing features, missing teams, lack luster presentation, zombie players. Madden 07 same thing basically..Microtransactions, points, unlockable content, 60 dollars for freakin unpolished un finished crap with stuff being held out for next years equally shitty rehash.

I've dropped so much money on gaming recently that I have to force myself to play just so I don't feel like I threw that money away. Sigh....

Anyone else just not feeling next gen?

I wouldn't bother with games that feature missing teams, missing features, glitches...but maybe that's just me.

Um.. Yes. Did you actually READ the followup? The question I posed in the followup has to do with positive/negative preconceived notions, and how said opinions can (if you let them) color your own opinions of a title.

You bought a next gen EA sports game. You should have known better!

Seriously, get the competitors soccer product and don't look back.

best way to get over that disillusioned feeling? quit gaf for a while!
seriously - take a week off and you'll realise how awesome gaming is (although your wallet will indeed feel uberraped)

Well that's the thing Konami's Winning Eleven is also stripped of features and what not read my post earlier I described what was taken out.

But yeah you guys are right it's my fault.. I bought two Ea sports games for a new system. I could have bought the ps2 versions or even xbox but I wanted to play soccer on my 360 in HD with all the bells and whisles of next gen.

I played the demo and it wasn't bad I felt it was something I could live with but in all seriousness the demo wasn't glitchy and I felt that maybe they would tighten up the gameplay a bit... and It was a compulsive purchase ( I work next door to a gamestop) Ultimately it's my fault I am aware of that. Is it really wrong to expect the contrary...

It isn't really your fault. You got raped, thats all.

I wouldn't buy any sports games for awhile. Just buy whatever else you like to play and wait for 2007 or 2008. That is the sad reality that some sports gamers face.

EA games arent all bad...

Anyways, the best way to get out of your rut is to start playing games with other people (i.e multiplayer). It is way more satisfying knowing you have beaten a human oponent opposed to a computer controlled one. Get into online gaming (but stay the hell away from MMORPGs, theyll consume your life).

You really should try taking a break from GAF for a while. I've done it a time or two, and I can almost guarantee it'll help you.

Also, on game purchases, try to limit yourself to games you're pretty sure you'd like. That may sound like common sense, but if you go by other people's tastes and just experiment with too many different titles, you end up spreading your game time (don't know about you, but mine's rather limited these days) too thin over a bunch of mediocre titles, when you could spend less money on fewer games you're more likely to enjoy, and even replay those titles to get your money's worth.

You should also buy Zelda: Twilight Princess. The game will rock.

go buy God Hand, this $34.99 CDN game has sent me blazing into fun for the past week and half (i bought it last week)

buy God Hand, it will solve all your problems, play on Easy mode if you are Ninja Dog like me

What I do when gaming starts to suck is stop gaming for a bit. And then when something comes out I really want I start again, and then I burn through all the games I kind of wanted to play but didn't feel like playing. I usually find some gem through this process. Also play some more arcadey type games (shmups, brawlers etc.) instead of console style games if you don't already, You'll be surprised at how different the experience is.

I will dust off the cube for some Zelda goodness for sure.

Also to all the people saying take a break from Gaf I am an Office manager so I sit in front of a computer 8-9 hours a day so sometimes this place gets me through the day. Im about to be promoted to a manager of multiple offices and once that happens I'll be out on the road most of the day. Only then will I get the break from gaf that I so deperately need.

Hey guys! I bought a next gen console the first year and alot of the games are REAL shallow!

Welcome to every generation of every console. Welcome to buyers remorse.

There are so many awesome games coming out on portables and last gen and PC, this thread is a joke.

Ok....

Nes: Duck Hunt, Super Mario Bros, Kung Fu, Excitebike,

Genesis: What we thought we're perfect ports of Sega's arcade classics, Phantasy Star, Ghouls N Ghost etc etc

Snes:Super Mario World, PILOTWINGS!, F-zero

Psx: Mk3, Toshinden, Jumping Flash, Tekken,Twisted Metal, Warhawk, Wipeout, Ridge Racer

Nintendo64: Ok I'll give you that one

Dreamcast:NFL 2K, Sonic Adventure , Soul Calibur, Power Stone, Tokyo Xtreme Racer

Ps2: SSX ( oh my an EA game), Tekken Tag Tournament, Madden 2001 ( blew AWAY the older gen versions no missing features),Midnight Club: Street Racing ,Ridge Racer V

Xbox:Halo ( that game alone made it worth it), Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee,Dead or Alive 3 ,Project Gotham Racing

Gamecube:.......Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader
Super Monkey Ball ...I really enjoyed those two but that was mostly slim pickins...

I know everyone's entitled to their opinion Adam but I never regretted buying any of these systems.
