I'm finally getting a Wii! Which game should I get?

psycho_snake

I went to WAGs boutique and all I got was a sniff
Tomorrow I'm finally getting my first next gen console. I decided to get a wii because of the games coming out in the near future, mainly super smash bros: brawl. But for now Im not sure which games to get. I'll have wii sports, but I cant really decide on what game i should get to go with it. Its either zelda, re4 or super paper mario. My worry about super paper mario is that it might be too similar to paper mario on GC. As for zelda and Re4, Ive played them both on GC, so would it still be worth getting them for wii?

Zelda - I'm not too sure. I'm a big fan of the camera system Nintendo implemented within WW and TP for the GC and not being able to use that in the Wii version pretty much crippled it for me :(

Well, I would get RE4 regardless because its only 30 bucks. I would also recommend Zelda over SPM.

If it is between Zelda, RE4, and SPM I would say RE4. You just recently played Zelda and the waggle doesn't really improve anything. RE4 has the bigger change in how it is played with the wiimote, and SPM is disappointing.

So RE4>Zelda>>>>SPM

Others to keep in mind:
Excite Truck
Trauma Center (if you haven't played it on DS)

SSX Blur is pretty cool, if you're willing to learn and appreciate properly the very original - and in my opinion fantastic - controls.

I liked Wario Ware a lot, but I'm a huge Wario Ware fan and I can play it with my wife. It's not quite as good as Twisted, but it's definitely better than Touched. It was selling for $30 on Amazon this week so you might be able to find it cheap too.

The controls themselves are well managed and put together. The game just doesn't recognize the uber tricks as well as it should.

I would suggest you absolutely avoid RE 4 on Wii since you've already played it on GC.

I know nothing at all about Super Paper Mario, but if you've played Zelda on GC, I can't see buying it again for the control scheme update. If you have your heart set on SPM, that's probably the way to go.

I can't tell if the people recommending ExciteTruck are trolls or not. Maybe that game is good. I haven't played it yet.

I have played Wario Ware Smooth Moves, however. That game is a lot of fun, but once I completed the single player mode, I haven't felt compelled to play the game any more.

Thats the thing thats putting me off blur. It sounds like pulling off the uber moves can get really frustrating.

I should have mentioned that I never completed RE4 because I found it really difficult at times. Do the new control scheme on wii make the game any easier to play?

What's wrong with super paper mario?
The massive text reading areas bored me to tears :(

I'm ashamed to admit that I only got to the 4th chapter and dropped the game. The game itself is actually really really fun. The text, for me, was just a killer.

I got quite annoyed with all the text too, but I still carried on playing the game because it was fun. I would get super paper mario, but Im worried that its going to be too similar to paper mario on GC.

Super Paper Mario
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Trauma Center

Only ones worth it. Elebits and Wario Ware are good if you can get them cheap.

Hmm you played RE and Zelda already. I say get RE anyways cause its cheap and has the extra content.

Id also say if you want a good party type game get Wario Ware. If you want a good cheap way to use the Wiimote get Trauma Center. If you want to play a good GTA clone get Godfather.

and if you want a game filled to the brim with rock your balls to the wall action and excitement get Excite Truck

Super Paper Mario
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Trauma Center
Excitetruck
Resident Evil 4

/thread.

rentals:
Scarface
Madden 07
Elebits
SSX Blur
Warioware

Excite!!!

This is not a troll post. I love the game like I love my children. (I don't have children, but when I do, I can only hope I love them as much as I do Excite Truck)

If you've already played RE4 and Zelda in other forms, I'd say Super Paper Mario is the slam dunk choice. Check out Excite Truck after that, though, and Trauma Centre as well (as long as you didn't play the DS version). After that, uh, hope you like the VC.

- Strikers (online in this PERFECTly balanced game FTW, doesn't matter if you don't like soccer)
- SSX (it just need training, it works and it is very fresh and unique and enjoyable)
- Godfather if you like the GTA thing, or give it a rental for some executions
- Excite
- Sonic
- Zelda
- Mercury OR Kororinpa OR SMB
- SPM
- RE4 if you didn't play it b4
- Wario to sometimes come out the shelves and show anyone what the Wiimote can do, how fun is it, and how lazy developers are using none of its power :P
- Trauma Center
- I don't like DBZ, but everyone else enjoys Budokai 2

In no specific order.

I'm enjoying all of them (except SPM, which I've only played at press events).

There're also some good, more specific games. But I'd bet you can find some games on that list that match your tastes ;)

You're getting it 100% sure?
Or you're going to the store, to see if they have any..to then come here and whine that "Nintendo sucks, how it's possible that there are still shortages after 7 months and that you got a 360 instead??"
:D

In any case:
-Resident Evil 4
-The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
-Mortal Kombat Armageddon
-Super Paper Mario

In dubai RE4 costs just as much as the other games, it isnt any cheaper, so the advantage of the game being cheaper doesnt really count for me.

I might consider getting wario ware, but I'm getting wiisports and thats something that I can play with my friends. I'd rather get a game with a good single player mode rather than another multiplayer game, but it looks like that could change because there are not too many options.

Mario Strikers is the best new* game on the system. Excite Truck comes close, but its lasting appeal is not as strong.

* RE4 is the best game on the system, but it's a GC port.

Outside of those that have been already proposed, get Strikers Charged, Mario Party and Red Steel. All three underrated on GAF.

Only one in my knowledge : It's not out yet in Europe.
Hope it's coming soon.

Strikers charged is another one i'll think about getting. I really liked the first one and the onlien feature sounds really fun. I definately wont be getting mario party though. I'm bored of mario party games.
