• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Im getting a Ps4 tomorrow...what should I get ?!

Shadow of Mordor was my first ps4 game and I couldn't have been happier. Binding of Isaac rocks and I usually don't like 2d games. Once gta5 hits that could be all you need for who knows how long.

Rogue Legacy, Octodad, Spelunky, Metro Redux and TLoU:R. If you have people over often Sportsfriends and Towerfall are worth it.

My top 3 in the first year of PS4:

1. Shadow of Mordor
2. Last of Us Remaster
3. Tomb Raider Remaster

For reference I had not played either of the remake games last gen.

LittleBigPlanet 3! It comes out next week.

You should get Infamous: Second Son as well, though I think this will be on sale Black Friday.

If you're getting the GTA bundle, that means you're getting TLoU as well, right?

Evil within, Shadow of Mordor, AC4 Black Flag, Metro Redux and Wolfenstein, seem good choices.

is Unity that broken on Ps4 ?

No, it has some glitches and frame dips, but it's perfectly playable and has the best on-foot gameplay of any AC game.

Recommendations:
AssUnit (looks amazing, plays amazing, rough technical edges)
AssFlag (for naval adventures; everything on foot is better in AC:U imvho)
Shadow of Mordor (for chopping off orc heads)
Destiny (best online FPS console PVP)
Diablo 3 (Co-op dungeon crawling)
MGSV Ground Zeroes (short, but awesome gameplay. A nice taste of TPP)
NFS Rivals (if you must vroom vroom)
FFXIV (it's a really fun MMO. You can solo most of the time if you're anti-social, and there's lots of content and detail in the world)
Dragon Age Inquisition (out on the 18th, looks HOT)

Avoid:
Driveclub (Profoundly unfun)
Killzone SP Campaign (Profoundly unfun)
Knack (Profoundly repetitive after 1 hour)
Pier Solar

My most played/favorite games:

Destiny
Diablo 3
TLOU: Remastered
Infamous: SS
MLB The Show 14 (probably better to just wait for 15 at this point)
Fifa 15
Drive Club (if you don't care about the MP since it's still broken)
Child of Light
Transistor

Of the PS+ freebies this month, both Binding of Issac and Steamworld Dig are very good.

Diablo 3
Shadow of Mordor
Destiny (requires friends or don't bother)
Infamous Second Son + First Light
The Last of Us Remastered (I assume this comes with your GTAV bundle?)
Transistor

I'm gonna be the dissenter on Infamous. I think it's really average.

TLOU is the best game on the Ps4. Either that or Resogun.

I've enjoyed Destiny too, although it's flawed. I actually don't think there are that many essential games on it...until February 😄

Here is my most played list

Battlefield 4
Diablo III UEE
Shadow of Mordor
TLOU
AC Black Flag
Madden 15
Destiny
EA Sports UFC (If you are into mma at all)
Infamous SS
Tomb Raider DE

DRIVECLUB. The handling and track design is as good as its ever been done in a racer (keep in mind I don't have PS+ and no interest in MP)

Resogun is amazing and addictive

If you're into Sports games, there is several great ones. NBA 2K, MLB The Show, PES are all great, especially the next gen versions

Rayman Legends feels great with the DS4

Second Son is one of the better games released this year.

The great thing about the system is that there is plenty of variety, especially early on. I didn't even start the smaller/indie titles like Transistor, Trials Fusion, Don't Starve, etc. Some on GAF consider Wolfenstein and TLOU Remastered as the best titles released this year, they bored me and regret buying them. It's all down to taste and no matter it is you're going to find what you're looking for.

Fez
Sound Shapes
Transistor
Towerfall Ascension
Hohokum
Velocity 2x
Unfinished Swan
Binding of Isaac Rebirth

Second Son / First Light
The Last of Us Remastered
Destiny

My picks would be Wolfenstein: The New Order, Diablo III and Shadow of Mordor. Just the three games I've enjoyed the most from what I've played.

Wolfenstein for the great story, characters and old-school FPS shooting feel, Diablo III because it's just fucking fun for countless hours, and Shadow of Mordor for having that next-gen feel of the AI systems, and it's also a visually beautiful game and fucking fun as well.

In addition to everything that's been suggested: A PS Vita. It's the perfect companion to a PS4.

This. One of the best things about the PSN games I listed is they are crossplay PS4/PS3/Vita titles. Being able to pick up where you left off between systems is an awesome thing.

There are many good games on PS4. 150$ will not be enough. But to start a mix between first party and third party should do the trick.

TLOU
DriveClub
CoD:AW
Diablo3
DA:I

That's what I would call balanced

Is the campaign in CoD any good ? I was able to try it yesterday on the store, and I kind of liked the beginning of it (Press X to pay respects), and I love Kevin Spacey. I also liked BO1, still play it to this day (MP)

I'm a new PS4 owner myself. Infamous is really fun, and looks amazing, even on my 720p LCD TV. I'm sure it would look even better on a bigger 1080p LED tv.

Got Dragon Age next week too.

Golf Club.

Not joking, and its currently on sale for 13€ in the EU store. Shame no one else mentioned it so far.

Im getting a ps4 tomorrow as a placeholder (because of a 20% store sale), so I can trade it off with GTA5 bundle on the 18th.

I will have 130€ store credit to spend, what games should I get ?! (80€ expire til the end of the year, 50€ expire only next year November).

I already have a few from PS+, all of them actually.

Get whatever game you want and like to play. You're buying the console and don't know what you want? I don't have a PS4 yet but when I get one after tax returns I know exactly what games I want to get and play.
