I'm in disbelief with how UTTER TRASH Infinite Warfare's MP is (also, MW still great)

What I can't stand is the constant jumping and flying around that some of the players do (and are usually very successful with). That's not the kind of game I want to play when I launch COD. Titanfall handles the double jump so much better.

This is why I don't buy CoD anymore. Wallrunning and double jumping are not what I want from CoD. Hell, I'd be happier of they took the jump button out all together and replaced it with a climb/mantle button.

I'm enjoying TF2, but I realized last night that what I really enjoy is titan vs. titan and pilot vs. titan (as either role). After playing so much Overwatch this year, the low TtK of pilot vs. pilot is a turn off.

I do enjoy following these threads, though. I played CoD regularly for a long time, so it's cool to see how things develop. On a side note, I'm hoping that MWR will be more popular than IW and we might see at least one CoD dev flip back to the old style of CoD.

I am actually really enjoying it. It doesn't have the visual variety or style of BO3, but the core gameplay is right up my alley.

But yeah, TF2 shits on it from a really high mountain in nearly every department, though I consider them different enough to be able to enjoy both.

I'm telling y'all, the multiplayer reeks of activision interference.

Also the constant "Buy titanfall 2" is coming off really desperate.

Well, you have to realize, TF2 was supposed to come as an alternative to COD and sold like shit. All it really has going for it is word of mouth. Of course it's going to be mentioned like crazy.

It comes off as desperate because that's what it is. Titanfall 2 isn't selling well at all despite having an awesome campaign and amazing multi-player, so its fans are trying to spread the word about how good it is so more people will buy it.

I don't see anything wrong with that.

What bugs me the most is the only multiplayer achievement in this game is bugged across platforms. Gah. I hope they fix it already so I can be done with the multiplayer.

Otherwise, the rest of the game is fun.

I passed CoD this year. Normally I'm more a single player guy, but Overwatch really got me back into mp and the overall impressions for IW are not great.

But I must be honest: all this pressure for TitanFall 2 (Sorry but TF2 will always be Team Fortress 2) sounds more like PR/Social Media stunt. Even if the game is good, it really feels to be feeding from CoD hate.

- The TTK... holy fuck does it not make any sense. As already stated in numerous other places, you can go down in a millisecond even though you emptied 1/3 of your clip into another player. That, coupled with the horrid level design (where you can literally catch other players spawning right in front of you) means you're constantly just doing the live.die.repeat. grind. Even when you do manage to stay alive longer than 10 seconds, the overlapping systems/mechanics/level design/etc. just nullify any potential satisfaction gained. Gains feel like luck instead of skill.
- Gunplay (despite satisfying ballistics/kick and designs) fucking sucks due to the non-existent TTK

This is exactly why I can't stand MWR, a stiff breeze will kill you as long as it has stopping power equipped, on the other hand assholes with juggernaut destroy any consistency in TTK. Add to that the terrible latency issues, constant camping, horrible spawns in tdm and spawn trapping in domination and you have an incredibly frustrating game that leaves me wondering how I could have ever enjoyed it back in the day. IW, while also plagued with latency issues like every goddamn CoD game the last few years has at least slightly more leeway with the TTK.

I've tried really hard to like it, but I just can't. With Titanfall 2, Battlefield 1 and Modern Warfare Remastered in the mix, there's just no point wasting any more time trying.

Having played both, Titanfall 2's multiplayer is infinitely better. You actually have a chance to gain momentum in a match and you don't get instantly blown up by something you didn't see every 5 seconds. If you die in Titanfall, you pretty much always know why and you learn something for next time. IW just feels so random.

And that's just the multiplayer. The Titanfall 2 campaign is also very good. I hardly ever finish shooter campaigns these days but that one will stick with me.

After Black Ops 2-ish, I feel like somewhere the CoD franchise went wrong in general is the map design progressively tanked. Too many entry and exit points to get flanked by or go flank someone created increased unpredictability in what already has a rightful reputation as being a very chaotic shooter. This was especially noticeable in Ghosts, and hearing that IW is the same doesn't inspire confidence.

Yeah it's bad and this is coming from someone who was a 10th prestige in AW (absolutely loved the exo movement) and a 7th prestige in BO3. IW just feels BAD.

It's amazing how IW made the campaign their own and came up with one of the best FPS campaigns in recent memory and then tacked on the multiplayer which is a clone of BO3, only without what made BO3 MP good.

BO3 went back to the BO2 idea of 3 lanes maps though.

The multiplayer beta for Infinite Warfare was pretty underwhelming for me. Quickscopers everywhere and the lag issues made it almost unplayable.

I have the retail release and I've made a 180; the multiplayer really has me hooked for some reason. I love Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 1, but those two have nowhere near the amount of customization you have in a Call of Duty game. The amount of perks, the amount of useful weapons and all the weapon attachment choices give me more to think about when I'm building a loadout. Some people probably don't care about that but it makes a game more fun to me.

Also: People that complain about dying every 2 seconds in COD haven't learned the maps yet.

Played for about an hour around release, and that was enough for me to be honest after playing the beta too. I put MW:R in and haven't been back since.

Battlefield and MW:R will be my MP games of choice for probably at least two years.

What boggles my mind even more is the total lack of features like combat record, leaderboards etc that are just not there in this game.

Yes they promise they are coming, but this game is part of a multi billion dollar franchise with a three year dev cycle, it should not be releasing in this state at all, period.

These features are also in previous games too, so why things like that are missing on release really boggles my mind.

I have my suspicions about the development of this multiplayer game, and I wonder if we will ever get juicy details on the behind the scenes.

MP wasn't as rewarding as i had hoped....

Atleast now you can't really camp anymore, so everyone is running around like me, like a chicken with their head cut off.

Your loadout at lvl 1 is embarrassing. Even when i got to 5, i still just used the preset loadouts. After some Team-Deathmatch and Domination, i had my fill and went to try Zombies. Zombies was fun. then during my last game, i was still trying to figure out what to do, someone turned on all of the power boxes. they left and 2 others and i were just running around trying to survive i guess? i have no idea what the end game is for this mode.... I was able to use a couple of rides to kill zombies, that was fun to see.

I believe any game made before 1997 is "essentially cave man art."
I think the biggest thing with IW or (current) infinity ward's map design is that every room has 5 enterances from every angle so even in enclosed areas you are susceptible from gettng ambushed. With Modern Warfare 1, there are very obvious pathways for run and gunners to run and pop up behind sniper nests, and if you run out in the open you are understandably putting yourself in danger.
It's been great to play MWR, I've been playing it like crazy and haven't got bored yet. IW and Treyarch need to rethink their shitty map design and TTK priorities. I hope sledgehammer doesn't shy away from their movement system or their map design because i think they have a real knack of blending futuristic stuff and cod.

I used the wrong word, I meant obnoxious. I can understand word of mouth is all it has but to constantly throw it in people's face gets tiring after awhile, especially when it doesn't have anything to do with a topic save for being a competitor to a game.

I agree with all these points and this is coming from a huge COD fanboy. Maps, TTK, rigs, non stop getting shot in the back and sides etc. There is just nothing enjoyable about the MP for me at all.

It's almost like the MP was an afterthought. They copied everything that BO3 did (I loved BO3) yet they somehow made it bland and boring.

Every time IW makes a COD games it's worse than the previous one. This games actually makes me miss ghosts.

I haven't gotten around to playing the SP campaign yet (which was the primary reason for buying it as well as MWR) as I was wrapping up Titanfall's.

In the meantime, I periodically tried the MP component to see if maybe it improved a little bit from the beta, which I frankly found bizarre.

NOPE

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPE!!!!

As the title states, I truly am in utter disbelief with just how much the MP component to Infinite Warfare feels like a dumpster fire.
I don't know if they designed it with nothing but twitch youtubers and their kill montage video ambitions in mind or what, but it's just... not... fucking... good... at all.

It's like... fascinatingly bad:

- Level layouts have no real flow to them. Just a bunch or tight corners with numerous blindspots.
- Said levels do not really facilitate the need for the movement system, like at all (never mind that said movement system is laughable when compared to Titanfall). Some walls you can wallrun on, some you can't. Some walls you can mantle, some... well... not really. At this point, the movement system feels like it merely exists here for reasons...
- The TTK... holy fuck does it not make any sense. As already stated in numerous other places, you can go down in a millisecond even though you emptied 1/3 of your clip into another player. Gains feel like luck instead of skill.
- Gunplay (despite satisfying ballistics/kick and designs) fucking sucks due to the non-existent TTK
- Quick-scoping
- Rigs are.... whatever

I could go on, but yeah, I REALLY tried to at least like this but I.... I just can't. It's BAAAAAD and it this is just even further exacerbated by the inclusion of Modern Warfare Remastered which still feels/plays amazing. Truly, less is more and the teams need to stop chasing shit like Titanfall and try something else.

I'm catching up on the latest Bombcast and Gerstman has said pretty much the same thing, adding that he doubts he or anyone else returns to CoD at all until the next one drops next year.

I don't care about TF at all but this just seems to be the overwhelming sentiment, that if you like CoD multiplayer you should get TF instead.

Call of duty ttk is what ruins it completely for me. Even in Titancall of Duty it's ridiculous how you can nip someone's dick hair and they die.

Enh, you can call it that, but video games are products, like anything else on the market. If someone is going to buy a bargain bin, trash blender, I would advise them to buy one that isn't wretched dogshit. The same principle applies here. I will always recommend people buy things that are good and avoid things that are bad. In this case, Titanfall 2 happens to be really good and IW...is not...

There's nothing desperate or obnoxious about recommending a superior game in just about every way possible for people looking for a similar experience.

This basically.

I managed to get the Legacy edition for $30. Mainly to try Modern Warfare since I have never played it before, but of course that means I also have Infinite Warfare now. Really the only COD I've spent a good amount of time with in the past was Black Ops 1.

I tried IW-MP and basically came to the same conclusion. Dumpster fire. I'll not be coming back. I dont know how anyone could play this more than a few days.

At least the campaign seems pretty neat so far. I dont know how longtime fans of the series feel about it going full scifi but I thought running around Europa was pretty cool. I'm basically only interested in these two games for the Campaigns anyway, I much prefer Battlefield's multiplayer.

It's good at its base when it works, but thats such a small amount of the time it makes it horrible. The lag compensation is off the charts.

What do you guys expect from "factory produced" games? IW is going to be used to make money from microtransactions. Treyarch CoD games and Destiny are Activisions' main baes.

I dunno, I'm having a great time with it. Playing on hardcore makes the TTK a non-issue. I'm having plenty of Titanfall moments on my own bouncing off walls with akimbo guns.

Think it's pretty great, actually!

This. Hardcore makes the MP (pardon) infinitely better.

I haven't played the full game, but the OP matches my impression of the game from the beta. It's simply astounding how wretched the MP is considering the pedigree of the franchise. Even for my disastrously low expectations, the game is worse. It's just trash. I'm not sure how you give a studio 3 years and what must be an extraordinary budget and this dogshit is what comes out.

There's just literally no reason to play it. TF2 is better at the high speed action, BF1 has the scale, Seige is a great tactical game, everyone already owns a copy of Destiny if you need to play poorly-balanced garbage, etc.

I'm morbidly curious to see how long this shambling monstrosity continues to dominate the market. How long can customers ravenously gobble up rotting trash from the bottom of a dumpster when they could just go to an actual restaurant instead?

I like this post. Well said

I haven't played or enjoyed cod for years but from what I played of the beta this is the best cod since black ops 1. Did the full game change much from the beta or what?

I tried this weekend and I wasn't sure whether the game was bad or whether cod was always that way and that I was just getting old.

The points in the OP (aside from the movement and Rigs ones) are all the same reasons I didn't like Ghosts. After playing the beta it just felt like Ghosts combined with Black Ops III's movement and specialist systems just thrown in to tick some boxes. I was right to write off the shell of Infinity Ward after Ghosts, and I can't wait to see what Sledgehammer does next year (even if it does end up being a future setting).

The players who know, smell blood. It's actually the COD franchise which is desperate as they try to copy their progenitor (Respawn). COD is still way ahead via legacy, not merit and they're bleeding players so they're trying to maximize their profits with exorbitant season passes, DLC and pay to win.

Yeah it's bad and this is coming from someone who was a 10th prestige in AW (absolutely loved the exo movement) and a 7th prestige in BO3. IW just feels BAD.

Loved the exo movement as well in AW. The game had issues, like every other COD, but i really, really, really hope that they're working on AW2.

Okay... there may be a silver lining here.

Just tried Hardcore mode and did WAAAAAY better

This is the only way to play. You'll end up getting kicked a lot for friendly fire (blops 3 nuke town comes to mind) but it's so worth it. Just know that there are connection advantages in HC as well. Still - only way to play the game IMO

EDIT: I just want to say that this is the first COD I haven't bought. When COD:Remaster gets sold separately I'll definitely get that. If they don't - I've played it to death on PC in 1080p - 8 years ago. I really can't handle the way MT are being handled - really upsetting. I can't support that.
