To clarify, I think Arkane's Prey is going to be a good game. It's not appealing to me personally, but I have no ill will towards them. Though i'm sure some people who won't read the topic will assume I hate it or something.
My big complaint comes from Bethesda themselves. They own the original Prey IP, which is a game I really enjoyed. Yet now the game is forever to be held in the bethesda vault because they couldn't take over human head and needed to use the name ASAP to keep the rights to it. This is just a weird situation all around in my eyes. If Bethesda didn't own the rights to the older game, and just had the title it would be understandable. If Bethesda had some little ties to old prey in this new game, it would make a little more sense. Like they could have saved themselves some flack by saying this was a reboot with some very small ties. It wouldn't have been the best answer, but would have at least been something. But to completely ignore a title you own which is a competent product and has it's fans is just odd to me. Why can't bethesda just put the old game back up on steam as prey classic or something? Did failing at being able to buy out another company kill their interest in this franchise completely? I can't recall too many other situations even similar to this.
I don't expect the story of Tommy or Killian to ever be continued at this point. But I really dislike how bethesda want's to bury the old game, even when they own it. Since their idea of trying to be silent about the series and release a new IP with the name didn't exactly work. A lot of the first comments are still related to the old game. I feel like if anything, Bethesda did Arkane a disservice forcing them to use the name. Since even though the game is it's own thing, it will forever have this cloud hanging over it.
