ImportGAF: What games have you imported?

Thanks to taking on Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, my Japanese is getting steadily better, and it made me think back to the first game I imported, back when I got my Saturn and an import adapter:

I was a huge fan of the series(still am), and this was cheap, so...

In retrospect, it's a horrible fighting game, but it still has some great music.

(PAL and/or US imports can apply as well, if that counts.)

Since then, I've imported:

-Dragon Force II (SAT)
-Wizardry VI & VII (SAT, JP, never came out here[!?])
-Growlanser IV: Wayfarer of the Time (PS2)
-DJ MAX Portable/2/Clazziquai/Black Square (PSP, Korea)
-Devil Summoner / Soul Hackers (SAT)
-Persona 2: Innocent Sin (PS1, bought when the fan translation patch came out)
-Initial D Street Stage (PSP)
-Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! / 2 (DS)
-Namco X Capcom (PS2)
-Beatmania IIDX 10th/DistorteD/Empress (PS2)
-Shenmue II (DC, UK)
-Tokimeki Memorial LE (SAT)
-Sakura Wars 1 & 2 (SAT)
-Catherine (PS3)

Mostly stuff that had no chance of coming out here.

I've only imported one game and that was Mother 3. I have little interest in importing games, but I had to make an exception for that because I'm a big Mother fan and I assumed it wouldn't be localized to North America.

I just imported a copy of Breath Fire 3 for the PSP. I'm looking into importing Tales of Eternia PSP as well.

This generation only 999 for DS and Afrika for PS3. Although I've bought imports of a couple of games out in the UK too.

Mushihimesama Futari (JP), Espgaluda II (JP), and DoDonPachi Resurrection (EU) for 360.

Bleach DS (JP), Jump Super Stars (JP) for DS.

And others, I'm sure.

Probably my favorite import of all time, back when I was a teen. China Town modchipped PSX. My friend was a big importer and how I played most FF's back then.

DBZ_Legends_PS_Jaquette.jpg

Actually thinking about all this reminds me of the game I wanted to import back then soley based off its boxart. I had no idea what the game was about. Wonder Project J2.

I imported Demon's Souls because it wasn't coming to Europe and then a week later it was confirmed for PAL regions.

Hakuna Matata (chinese/english Version of Afrika) - PS3

Couldn't wait for a NA/EU announcement, so i simply imported this Version back then.

Mainly DS games, as they were cheaper and region-free. I imported :
- P3 FES.
- Xenosaga. I never really played it, as my PS2 wasn't modded and using a magic swap technique, the game couldn't be played (something to do with double-layered disc methinks).
- Ace Attorney 1 & 2
- Polarium DS
- Mario & Luigi Partners in Time
- Beet the Vandal Busters...I don't even know what crossed my mind when I ordered this RPG in moonspeak I didn't understand. Needless to say I haven't played it a lot.
- Sonic Rush.
- Jump Ultimate Stars. Best DS import I did with Gyakuten Saiban.

250px-Fatal_Frame_IV.jpg

Zero: Tsukihami no Kamen, or Fatal Frame IV

Because Reggie gave me no fucking choice. Now I just need to get a Wii dedicated to homebrew so I can play it. Might get Disaster: Day of Crisis too, and thought about Rhythm Heaven for GBA also.

Off the top of my head:

- Tales of Vesperia (PS3)
- Tales of the Abyss (3DS)
- X-Men Vs Street Fighter (Saturn)
- All of the Final Mix releases for the Kingdom Hearts series (PS2/PSP)
- Breath of Fire III (PSP)
- Tatsunoko Vs Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes (Wii)
- Segagaga (Dreamcast)

And probably more I'm forgetting.

Wanted to get the EU release of Tales of Eternia PSP, but it's getting difficult to find it for a reasonable price these days.

Edit: Oh yeah, Jump Ultimate Stars, too. Can't believe I forgot that one.

Tetris Battle Gaiden (JP)
Kuru Kuru Kururin (JP)
Go! Go! Beckham! (EU) - Got on a whim because I heard it had a very Yoshi's Island vibe to it.
Pokémon Black (JP)
Xenoblade Chronicles (EU)

i havent imported any games due to Canadian games usually coming with a french language option. I have however imported the breath of fire artbook collection as well as the end of eternity art book from a fellow gaffer :)

LOL, you surprised me with your Sailor Moon cover. Actually that was my first PSone import too, along with Capcom Generations Vol 2. After that I found it too complicated to play import games (minus Bemani titles).

I love Sony for region free consoles now.

Being in Australia and all, I import pretty much everything. US, Japan, UK, anywhere but here. =p This, however, is still my favourite import purchase evaaaah:

AlWVr.jpg

Xenoblade and the Final Fantasy XIII UK Limited Edition set. There are plenty of other things I'd like to try, but most are in Japanese, and I don't understand a lick of it. I know I could try to play a long with a guide, but it just wouldn't seem as fun.

EDIT: Ugh, forgot about all the PSP games I imported last year too. I also imported Final Fantasy Dissidia 012 LE, The 3rd Birthday LE, Persona 3 Portable LE, Tactics Ogre LE, and Yakuza 4 LE.

French French or Canadian French ?

(it's just for info. I have fond memories of Phantom Hourglass in Canadian French, that made the game really awesome).

KIcDc.jpg

So worth it just for Dr. Mario. Don't understand Yoshi's Cookie at all. Panel was cool too, maybe.. hmm, should try that one again, anyone know if Panel de Pon is worth getting good at? Fun versus friends?

I might import that Hatsune Miku game for 3DS lol...I love rhythm games for some reason, and maybe the rest of the Taiko Wii games. (I want Ouendan 3 dammit Nintendo!)
I still wish to have Zangeki no Reginleiv...but there is no translation patch for it. Might import The Last Story & Pandora's Tower if Nintendo of America skips them too.

Importing from Japan is not cheap, buyers beware!

As an european mainlander i imported most of my games in the last years from the UK. Mainly because of the fantastic exchange rate and uncensored games (i am from fricking Germany). My only Import that kinda stands out a little bit is my asian copy of Lost Odyssey. I imported it just for the amazing cover art that didn't make it to the west, and it was totally worth it...

I'm reverse importing, bring US/Eu games into Japan. Way too many to list, last few notable ones were :

Zelda SS
Xenoblade
Nano Assault

11 years+ ago when i wasn't here a large chunk of what i was playing was imported from Japan though

From UK / Europe:

- Tactics Ogre : Premium Edition (PSP)

I was thinking of Inazuma 11, but my JRPG backlog is so massive that I've managed to resist so far.

Super Mario RPG on the snes.

Moon remix on the psx.

Well over 70 saturn games, mostly shoot'em'ups & rpgs such as Shining force 3 scenario's 2 & 3 (later also got 1 to qualify for the Premium Disc), Mysteria 2, Dragon Force 2, Princess Crown, Image Fight and X-Multiply, Radiant Silvergun, Battle Garegga, Thunder Force V, DonPachi & Gekirindan.

PS2 - Panzer Dragoon, Dragon Quest V, Tales of Destiny Director's cut, Tales of destiny 2, Trigger heart Excelia, Muscle Grand Prix 2 Tokumoi, Ibara, Trizeal, Espgaluda, Dodonpachi Daioujou & Mushihimesama.
Still need some AGES games.

GC - Kinnukman, Megaman collection, megaman x collection.

Gameboy, GBC, GBA & DS too many american imports to name. Got Ketsui Death Label from japan for the DS though.

Lumines for the PSP.

It had better box-art and it was unknown whether or not it was going to be published in America (in one piece.)

AusGAF reporting in.

Probably missing quite a few there. Come to think of it, the UK & Europe has really come into it's own as far as having the definitive version of a game this gen.

This is the only reason I own a Dreamcast import adapter.

& @MikeE21286, how do you get this game to run on a NTSC DC via VGA. Only got it to boot once by luck via the S-Video port on my VGA adaptor. I'm using the DC-X import boot disc. All else fails, I can just play my roommates' Xbox copy. ^_^;

Zero: Tsukihami no Kamen, or Fatal Frame IV

Because Reggie gave me no fucking choice. Now I just need to get a Wii dedicated to homebrew so I can play it.

Actually you don't need to mod your Wii to play it. The group that translated it released a save where it's not needed. Get it here!

PS2:
King of Colosseum II
Wrestle Kingdom
Namco X Capcom
Sengoku Basara 2
Sengoku Basara X
Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes

PS3:
Demon's Souls
Sengoku Basara 3 Utage
Gundam Extreme Versus(still not here!)

NDS:
Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan
Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii: Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2
Jump! Ultimate Stars
Tingles's Rupee Land (from UK)
Inazuma Eleven (from UK)

Gamecube:
Naruto: Gekitou Taisen Ninja 4

Wii:
Xenoblade Chronicles (from UK)

PSP:
DJ Max Portable 2

Not many games, but my highlights were Xenoblade Chronicles, Inazuma Eleven, and Fire Prowrestling D. I am probably going to be importing some games soon, like The Last Story.

You Don't Know Jack for the PS3, Demons Souls from the USA and God Of War Collection. UK dragging their heels on the last two.

I never tried to run it via VGA somI can't offer any help unfortunately. I only ever played it using a boot disc like you mentioned.
