In case you don't have Bond on blu-ray yet... Best Buy got some steelbooks for you.

Apparently, these were announced in July.

I completely missed said announcement. This is my late pass. Or it would be, if I hadn't purchased the Bond 50 box-set the year it came out. I wasn't PLANNING on buying it. It just sorta... happened. Mostly because I was up at like 1am while half-drunk one November night and saw that Amazon had dropped the sale price to 100 bucks.

Had I been patient - like, say, three years patient - I'd have just sprung for these steelbooks. 12 bucks per movie (which isn't a great price, but then again, you don't have to buy all the movies, either. Lord knows I'm not planning on giving Diamonds are Forever a fuckin' spin anytime soon, but I own it now. Ugh) with artwork based on each film's opening titles.

A few examples:

883904343073;canvasHeight=360;canvasWidth=640

883904343066;canvasHeight=360;canvasWidth=640

883904343134;canvasHeight=360;canvasWidth=640

Not all the Bond films are included in this set, but the only truly shitty one is Diamonds Are Forever, and four of my personal top 5 are available.

So, anyway, they're out now.

I remember seeing at least most of these in a thread back in the summer, but they're definitely nice looking and this works as a good PSA.

I haven't bought a Blu-ray in years. I spent thousands on DVDs, a lot of which I've yet to watch, out of a want to collect. Now they just collect dust. I only watched things once or twice for the most part, if that.

It'd be nice to upgrade my Bond collection (which I have on DVD and VHS) to Blu-ray, but it doesn't make sense given the above.

These steelbooks are nice, but they're also steelbooks. The hubs are horrible and they're worse for discs than regular cases, so I don't understand why people prefer them. I cringe when I get a steelbook, because it feels as if I'm going to break the game or DVD when I pull it out.

Tempting... and don't even own the Bond 50 set... just been impatient and bought them piecemeal over the years

Thanks. Not a huge Bond fan but there are a couple I like, including Casino Royale which I dont own yet. Ordered that one, will pick up tomorrow.

Bought CR, QoS, and Skyfall

Gonna be pissed when they don't make a matching steel book for Spectre :p

For anyone who actually cares about the discs and not just the package, these are straight identical to the discs in the Bond 50 box, just like 2x more expensive each.
