In-Depth: Dead or Alive 4 (A Lot More Depth!)

yeah, then everyone would throw someone once stunned since only basic throws and chain throws can be escaped...

That shit is what needs to be fixed first. All throws should be escapable. And the graphics whore in me wants throw- and character- specific animations.

The two in-depth articles...

From my hands-on time with the game, this is definitely not the same DOA most people are used to. From the looks of things DOA4 could actually make it into the tournament scene with Tekken, SC, and VF. We'll have to wait for the final product to be sure, but it's looking MUCH deeper than any other DOA title.

my guess on how they improved doa: they used tourney players from evo (since they did host it out of nowhere) to give them tips to make it tourney worthy... like what capcom did with some of their fighters.

I remember either being in a room you were in or seeing you on the ranking list. I would imagine you were an SS ranked player or top 50 on Live player. Thanks for the info, I might consider getting DOA4 at launch now. Good update.

I like that it's not that deep. It's nice to pull out a game to play with friends that they have never played before, and they can get good in about 30 minutes. It's like a super exciting game of rock paper scissors. I love DoA2 Hardcore. Most of my friends are weaksauce, I don't know many who are any good at fighting games. I always kick their ass and they get pissed in like 5 minutes. That's why I keep DoA around.

No they're not. Command throws are not excapable, only chain throws and typical F+P throws are.

I thought if a command throw was say: fwd, fwd, F+P to escape it you press fwd and F+P

Unless I'm thinking VF4

I don't play DOAU much anymore, but I've been SS ranked since the third week the game was out, and I think my highest ranking was 30's... but really on DOAU rank and grade don't mean much.

You can still play the game like DOA2/3 if you aren't looking for depth. It's just that those who are will completely own you. :D

Not in DOA. You can only escape the basic F+P throw (no direction) or multi-throws after the first portion.
