In engine animation compared to in game animation

I'm replaying Ragnarok at the moment, and as it's one long continuous take, I'm astounded by the animation details. Specifically Durlin writing on the scroll, and more recently Tyr grasping Kratos hand:

We always talk of how some cut scenes can have higher fidelity by swapping out assets. The animation in God of War is great anyway, but in the instances above is anything different being done which avoids clipping on the animations etc? Is more resource dedicated to just these slices?

Even if it’s one camera the game sets you up into correct spots to run predetermined animations. (Like walking through a door or small
Hallway) Sometimes the camera moves away from the player to set up the models offscreen in the correct spots for the predetermined animated cutscenes.
