Why I Like Him: Just really love his cartoonist look to every character he draws. They way he draws women is great. They jump right off the page, and his art really reminds me of Batman: The Animated Series.
Where You Can See Him: Batman: Private Casebook, Batman: Heart of Hush, Batman: House of Hush

James Stokoe - Orc Stain, guy came out of nowhere for me and blew me away with 7 issues of the craziest shit I've ever seen. The colors in some of those issues are just...wow...I loved every month this comic went on.

Why wouldn't it count as comic book art? It's comic artists illustrating comic characters?

Some people are super "purist" about whats comic book art and whats pin-up/cover art.
Probably the same group of people who hate people calling certain "graphic novels" comic books.

Anyway for me its all the same, if an artist work is used ona comicbook cover then it is comicbook art, plain and simple(im simple like that).

Why I Like Him: His artwork is very different from most comicbook art. His art gives everything a certain darkness, which lends itself well to the issues ive read in which he is the lead artist
Where You Can See Him: Ghost Rider: Road to Damnation & Trial of Tears, X-Force(i forget the exact run), Dont think his on anything right now, but i may be wrong.

^I know its all cover art, i could find any good scans of his interior art + im lazy to do a thorough search.

I know he was mentioned earlier, but put some Travis Charest in here. Also, Todd McFarlane was my childhood favorite, inspired me to become an artist.

Darwyn Cooke

Why I like him: His paneling is simple and extremely well paced, his characters and designs are incredibly cartoony and iconic, and damn if he doesn't know how to choose great colorists to work with. Oh, and he's actually a competent writer too.

Three of my favorite pages in comics from his DC: The New Frontier, with colorist Dave Stewart.

Most of my favorites have already been listed (love me some Amanda Conner) but I'm going to throw in Bill Sienkiewicz

His work is so loose and free, but it still just comes together. It's like the pen in an extension of his mind.

I love LOVE that VB painting. every since I bought the boxset.

Awesome thread. Anyone else weird like me and prefer pencils or just inked art unless its painted? Not a fan of the usually coloring in comics.

I like seeing the artist's pencils unfortunately many inkers really take away that something from the artist's pencils.
I really love a great ink job. I vaguely remember hearing that when he's working at max speed, Jae Lee almost (?) goes straight to inking.

That said, Michael Zulli, for one, somehow does not translate to inks well and when they started publishing his pencils without inking his work suddenly started looking amazing.

Hurray for walt simonson..he was one of my instructors in school. Im actually pretty surprised by some of the stuff posted here (in a good way).

Fixed. Macfarlane usually only acts as an inker these days, neither of these are by him, check the sigs.

Pasqual Ferry

Why I like him : I fell in love with him in Adam Strange : Planet Heist, and I couldn't believe how cool and soft his drawing were. Talk about a good draftsman.

Your absolutely right, my mistake. I was more pointing to the Spawn franchise as a whole really though, there is tons of fantastic art throughout it.

Yeah, Tezuka truly is one of the greats. An absolute genius in so many ways. I especailly love some of the brilliant paneling he does. The part in Hi no Tori where that space crew escape in different pods is so amazing.

I wish I could find a good example of his nature shots. There are so many in Hi no Tori and Buddha that absolutely take my breath away. Such attention to detail.

I approve of a lot of the stuff being posted although I'm mildly surprised there isn't more appreciation for some of the past masters like Joe Kubert, Carmine Infantino, Neal Adams, Jim Steranko, etc.

I will add two recent ones I like although I could come up with several others.

Awesome. Need to check out more of his art. He would be great on a Hellblazer run.

Why is Michael Turner not in this thread? Quite possibly the best at drawing females, and super heroes in general. A crying shame he died so young to cancer. His graphic novel on Super girl/Batman/Superman is one of the best out there.

Dont agree. Obviously sad that he passed, but his art was so, so and he had 0 range.
