Incredibles 2: Brad Bird to Direct, New Artwork

Incredibles%2B2%2BFinal.jpg

In some very exciting news revealed via the D23 Expo app, it was announced that Brad Bird, Nicole Paradis Grindle, and John Walker would be on hand July 14 for an Incredibels 2 signing session. In addition to the exclusive artwork-signing news, there were also a few items to call out which have been previously unannounced.

Brad Bird to direct? HELL YEAH.

The most sequel suited Pixar property around. It's a crime it has taken this long.

Little details from the image:

* Other heroes shown flying in the distance
* A racoon
* Underminer's big drill vehicle

Kind of disappointed they didn't opt to age them up. Would have been cooler to see a college student, a high school student and an elementary student with their older parents fighting crime. But I guess that isn't as marketable to kids?

Huh I thought we knew Brad Bird was back already, but still good news nonetheless. As mentioned, from the art it seems more of a direct sequel rather than a time skip.

How is the first one?

It's awesome. We've likely ruined it for you by overhyping it, but it's awesome, and is in fact a better Fantastic Four movie than any of the Fantastic Four movies.

My money's on Underminer being an opening scene villain, followed by a small time skip of new heroes, who in turn spawn new villains.

Gonna take a guess and say that Pixar or Bird would probably consider that too similar to Toy Story 3 having an 11-year timeskip.

I mean the kid who played Dash is in his mid-twenties now, so I think we're gonna have some degree of a timeskip but not straight away.

We already knew he was directing but the news about this taking place right after seems to be new. And I'm legitimately surprised by that.
