Independence Day: Resurgence Trailer 1

I'm not suggesting they were impossibly rare. There was often one stand out amongst the others, but the week-to-week structure wasn't there so much. This summer I felt like I was at the cinemas at the minimum twice a week or so. Very little breathing room for legs.

Well OK, I can't argue this. There are more summer movies on a week per week basis than there was in the past, that is definitely true. But big budget summer movies have always been a thing, going all the way back to Jaws.

Halo style orbital defense platforms looks like it would have really come in handy.

Honestly though, even with the biggest technology boom in human history, 20 years would not be enough time to adequately prepare for a second invasion. The Earth economy would just be devastated after 1996. All major cities destroyed, probably a quarter to half the planet's population died. Earth's best scientists and engineers probably could design new massive ships making up a 'home fleet' in Earth orbit, but with no possible chance of being able to fund it in time.

You make the assumption the earths economic systems haven't changed. Also the ESD is funded like SHIELD or the MIB, it holds a bunch of Patents.

How do you do an ID4 sequel trailer and not have a single shot of some national monument being blown the fuck up.

Fail.

For sure. That was my bad, I was trying to get that point across more. There are just a ton of releases.

ID4 was one of those films that just lingered at the cinemas for what seemed like a year.

doesn't really stand out as these movies are a dime a dozen now. could be cool though, if only for nostalgia alone. hey man remember the 90s? yeah that was cool

It's all on you Will.

Turn down the chance to star in a big action movie = get killed in the movie

The most important part is Jeff though. He's amazing.

A shame Will Smith isn't in this but I can understand why he wasn't really ready to jump back into another role after After Earth failed and his decision that might have lead to it. By the time he likely was okay and had finished his self reflection he had already agreed to do Suicide Squad. Here's hoping if there is a sequel there is an opening for his character to return.

That said he and Jeff Goldblum were what made that first film. I think that's pretty much largely agreed upon. They were the lead characters with Bill Pullman and Randy Quaid holding down third and fourth, maybe tied for third. I will see it because Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman are in this. I'm not as excited as I would have been had Will Smith also been in this but that's not going to be a deal breaker for me.

Goldblum was only 1/2 of the equation:

It was that Smith - Goldblum combo.

The trailer was surprisingly entertaining and suggests the film has a well-balanced mix of previous characters and new. A good start to building interest at least.

That actually looks kinda dope! Color me intrigued, happy to see jeff goldblum back, I wish he would have shown up in jurassic world

Looks bad. I was excited at the beginning of the trailer. Thought it was going to be about a small group of aliens that ended up staying behind on Earth and slowly been stirring shit up.

Trailer just reminded me of that Battleship movie. Why does every movie have to try and be "epic" and a CGI fest.

It'll make that $$$ for sure though.

The explosion teleported Will to the alien homeworld where he's been held captive ever since. He'll be reintroduced to his son and wife in the sequel to Resurgence.

Yes they're planning another one after this one.

But Will was killed between movies.

That's what he wants you and the aliens to believe!

Seriously though, they could chalk it up to him wanting to be in hiding or something stupid if he said he'd be down for the third movie. They're not gonna say no to him if he changed his mind.

Why do you think I'm not excited for this? There's not much more that brings my piss to a boil like the cinematic vomit that is Forrest Gump, but Armageddon manages it.

Jesus Christ, did they have to have Will Smith's character die such a pitiful death?
He's coming back as a cyborg

"I ain't heard no fat lady!"
