Independence Day: Resurgence Trailer 1

Well yeah in the first movie it was just business as usual for the aliens.

This time they are PISSED.

Alien overlord "I am here to kick som Blorgh and chew some Blaroog and I'm already out of Blaroog"

David "uh life finds a way"

Either way I can see humanity lose this war. If something the size of a continent crashes or explodes it will probably kill most life on earth.

I do wonder if this ship is larger than the mothership in ID4?

I could watch giant alien spaceships crash through the atmosphere all day long.

I remember reading about the first movie from behind a cereal box as being hyped as fuck. And the movie delivered. Let's hope this one does too.

What I loved about ID4 is how the aliens were so confident and that's what caused them to lose.

I was skeptical of this movie at first, but I could definitely see the aliens getting pissed and wanting revenge.

They've probably never dealt with getting beat like they did by an inferior race. You see it with people who don't know how to cope with defeat. It eats at you, gnawing, always at the back of your mind, until you can't handle it anymore.

Plus, they're just an awesome alien design and I can't wait to see them in action.

The fuck?
I don't understand why you'd charge so much when you already have so much money...especially when you are not even sure you'll be carrying the film alone.
Probably because you don't feel like doing the movie, unless it pays really, really well. He doesn't need the role, he can do whatever he wants.

Someone has to effing pay up for Jaden's rap career, that shit ain't gonna pay for itself!

I didn't know anything about Independence Day before I saw the trailer at the cinema. The trailer started off with Will Smith's character waking up and my thought was "the Fresh Prince is doing some family movie? I'll pass". And then I saw the alien spacecraft. And then I saw the explosions and shit. And then I was totally marked out for the movie until the day I saw it in the cinema.

Looks like any other shitty predictable American disaster/alien movie. You guys are delusional.

ID4 was a perfect blend of OTT cheese, camp and action. Everyone mocks stuff like the dog jumping out of the way of a fireball, but its stuff like that which elevates the film and I'm pretty sure things like that were intentionally calculated to make it funny for the audience.

If this sequel relishes in the same it will be a definite cut above your average po-faced disaster movie.

So it's basically the first movie all over again. I'm disappointed. I was expecting something like the alien remnants having to co-exist with the humans and the conflict and issues of tolerance that ensues from that, sort of like Defiance. But that would probably be too boring for what's supposed to be a big popcorn movie.

Looks decent. Am I the only one who thinks the German trailer sounds badass. The voiceover isnt perfectly in sync but still.

Lol what? It's not even close to being the first all over again. I got that much from just the trailer.

We already had that movie. It was called District 9.

will only go and watch this if we get another round of these

Why were they giving out save buttons? You old people are weird.

The alien-human relationship in District 9 was one-sided. I'm thinking more like the syfy tv show Defiance.

Can't you simply watch the syfy tv show Defiance? How is this film (based on a single trailer) bad because it's not like a tv show that already exist you like?

I'm just disappointed that the basic premise of the sequel is very similar to the first one. I was just throwing out an idea for how it could have been different, I don't necessarily want it to be like Defiance.

Stupid aliens aint ready for El Jefe Goldblum. Hail to the chef.

No Will Smith being there isn't necessarily isn't a bad thing. He's nowhere near as charismatic as he used to be and I get the feeling from most of his roles nowadays that he just doesn't give a fuck.

Quite enjoyed the trailer, I like Jeff Goldblum and although the tone is totally different from the original I do quite like the sinister, mysterious feel. Probably won't go to see this, but I hope it turns out good. I went to see the original with my dad when I would have been like 12 years old.

LOL. Will Smith's character died.

In the timeline, on April 27, 2007:

While test piloting the ESD’s first alien hybrid fighter, an unknown malfunction causes the untimely death of Col. Hiller. Hiller’s valor in the War of 96 made him a beloved global icon whose selfless assault against the alien mothership lead directly to the enemy’s defeat. He is survived by his wife Jasmine and son Dylan.

Trailer had a little Starship Trooper vibes for me, most likely from that scene with the soldiers firing at the horde of ships in front of them from behind a wall. Perhaps it will end up the same cult following.

Will see it for Jeff Goldblum, I smile in any film scene he's in.

Should be easy enough to retcon if he'd sign up for part 3

"Before the ship exploded I was beamed up by the aliens"

or

"The government had to fake my death"

or

"With this alien technology we can clone our best fighter pilot"

Any of those excuses would just make people angry.

They should retcon it in the movie. It'd be great if they're just pulling the wool and he's secretly been a part of it all along. Tying his character to some absurd abduction plot thread would just make it better.

That is a huge ship.

Something that big would have such mass that i could affect the planet's gravity just by passing near.

Also, need to see how to shoot that thing "down" without destroying Earth in the process.

Paint me curious.

I love how in that image, the explosion leading to the guy's death is supposed to be being filmed live...despite the fact they already have a headline and a ticker reporting the explosion at the exact same moment.

The devil's in the details, viral marketers.

To be fair the 24/7 news broadcasts all have LIVE pretty much all the time, even while re-running footage from earlier events.
