inFAMOUS Second Son power ideas

The Concrete power enemies sounds amazing really
However, all of this may be easier said than done, as the hypocritical DUP has some Conduits of their own. These foes wield the power of concrete and, as such, pack quite a wallop. In addition to firing shotgun blasts of stone to cause damage, enemies also have the ability to cement you in place, leaving you wide open for further attacks. Higher ranking soldiers possess greater mastery over the element and have a shield of rubble that protects them from a majority of your attacks. Persistence is paramount when dealing with such foes, that and dodging incoming stone. On the other hand, some enemies decide to to take a more traditional approach and simply bring guns to a fight. Though lacking the knockback of concrete, weaponry will often win out in sheer numbers, so don’t take it lightly. Mini bosses may also join the fray with chain guns that can dole out some serious punishment. These foes force you to spend a majority of your time dodging, but when they stop to reload…

in that case my top three guesses are ConcreteAsphaltWhatever/Sound/Fuel

and Grafitti/Expression in place of Concrete if Delsin for some reason doesn't absorb it

Traversal is however the animal moves, and can get in places or find things in ways Delsin can't (dog nose, cat vision, prolonged flight, chew your way into a place sealed off). Vermin-summoning (I'd prefer that to having to control them directly) would be a fucking incredible power but I feel like it'd have to be evil-only and Sucker Punch has indicated that there won't be any good-only or evil-only power branches, just different development of individual powers.

Noise and graffiti would also be incredible, but IIRC Cole in inFamous 2 already had the power to suck all of the sound out of his environment (lol!!!).

Whatever the power is, it has to be drainable from some kind of easily-recognisable object in the game world. You switch to neon by draining neon signs, smoke by draining it from cars and exhaust vents. I think concrete would be tough to differentiate from anything else, because you're always standing on it (unless they make it so you drain it from the bodies of enemies who were wielding it).

Water would be the obvious choice, because you could drain it from puddles or fountains, and then they could do missions in the rain where you'd be superpowered like that one thunderstorm mission in Infamous 2. However, Sucker Punch apparently said it wasn't in there, so I guess that's that (unless they're being sneaky).

They are definitely being sneaky....
 
To me the ones that make the most sense based on functionality/availability are:

1) Sound/Sonic
2) Magnetic
3) Concrete
4) Rubber
5) Glass

Obviously water is the one that seems the easiest but they have allegedly ruled it out. I'm thinking they are going to come up with a couple straight of out left field that no one seems coming though
 
I'm gonna call their bluff I really think there will be water powers in the game. The excuse that plenty of water is the reason for not using it doesn't make sense, just look at concrete powers, there's plenty of damn concrete in the game but that's still used.

inFamous 1&2 did get sorta repetitive with just 2-3 powers so there needs to be at least twice as much in Second Son; Neon, Smoke, Water and oh yeah I love the idea of graffiti based powers. I don't know how it will hurt but traversing the city in a rainbow of colors would be glorious!
 
A power that has to involve a city?

How about sewage treatment?
Traversal: Turn into sludge and travel using cities sewer system
Attack: Cholera, think MGS4 poop man.

But concrete hasn't been shown used by Delsin and because the powers have to be absorbed from a discrete source it certainly won't be used. Water is also far too generic. They said they want the powers to be things we've never seen before.

Everyone is thinking ahead about more powers....

But I'm more curious about combining powers! Assuming there are 4 core powers, one for each d pad. Neon, Smoke, ?1 and ?2. We could have a crazy amount of combinations.

1. Neon+Smoke
2. ?1+?2
3. Neon+?1
4. Smoke+?1
5. Neon+?2
6. Smoke+?2
7. Smoke+?1+?2
8. Neon+?1+?2
9. Smoke+Neon+?1
10. Smoke+Neon+?1+?2

So many possibilities!
 
How about pressure manipulation? There could be some telekinesis or some gravity manipulation associated with it. Maybe infuse pressure with physical combat? No idea about the power source for this one though.

Maybe it's too close to a generic telekinesis type of power but I wouldn't mind because I love the idea of telekinetic powers in videogames mainly because you could propably interact with the local environment and do some fun stuff with the physics.

Prototype could have been so much better.
A power line that would be great in infamous maybe ps5 will have the hardware to give us proper water/ice type powers.

Rubber could be great however I want glue enemies if this is the case.

1. They should do this for lols.

2. Earths gravity ofcourse. When Delsin sucks earths gravity it goes away around Delsin. Then after he can make gravity million times stronger around him crushing everything around him to the ground.

Edit. Human power. First you suck humans then you jizz them out.
 
Telekinesis would be the power of all powers. You can move, bend, cut, throw, hold, simply do a lot of things with that. Flying, deflect bullets, create force shields. A game where you have the same abilities you see in movies like Akira and Chronicle would be mind-blowing.
That would require a very powerful and advanced physics engine though. Not to mention a powerful system.
 
I'm really liking the powers so far. Although I love powers like water, fire and electricity, I'm glad they decided to go with more "unique" powers. Smoke and Neon may not sound as amazing as your other typical powers but they're different, fresh.

I like what I'm reading in this thread; gum, rubber, glass or graffiti would be awesome. Also, anyone who has seen/read the anime/manga One Piece knows that no matter how shitty a powers sounds, there's always something amazing to do with it.

Yeah, when I was thinking of possible telekinesis for inFamous I was thinking of Chronicles too. Would be so cool. Would be awesome to just lift a nearby car into the air and watch Delsin close his fist and see the car get crushed or something similar. Have the positive karma version of telekinesis to be more precise and "floaty" and the negative karma version to be more AoE and crushing.

Theres no words for how satisfying the powers in Prototype 2 are.

Average game, but dem tendrils. Lawd.

But their is no power source for Delsin to drain for that.

Sounds very awesome though.
 
What about shape shifting? Do his powers all have to shoot? I guess that has been the trend, but does limit possibilities. Ultimately all powers have been used in Marvel, they probably just go back to comics for ideas.
 
Ferrokinesis would be pretty cool (Magneto simulator) I like the idea of sound as well (Blackbolt)

I really wish games would use flying. Superman Returns: The Game was rubbish but I did enjoy flying around the city superfast.

They'll propably keep the same template for all power sets, but it would be nice to have one power dedicated to purely physical combat. Shapeshifting into some kind of golem or something that would lack projectile attacks but would make up in defensive capabilities and high damage melee attacks.
