Injustice 15 min gameplay @ EVO 12

god damn this looks so good. I'll probably end up maining Supes as he has always been my favorite, but GL could be high on that list to depending on what they do.

I'm actually kind of thinking there is a good possibility that we could see some less well known characters since they included grundy, but I think we can easily round out the cast right now with "most" of the Justice league (maybe not Martian Manhunter) and one villian for each so Joker, Lex, Circe, Sinestro, maybe a member of the rouges for flash someone like Mirror Master, Captian Cold, etc.

I'm really interested in the lesser knowns, they could pull from Vertigo with guys like Swamp Thing, or Sandman, they could have guys like Ambush Bug, Booster Gold, Captian Marvel, or Black Adam, Batwoman, Zatana so many possibilities.

Have they gone into any detail about where they are pulling from is it more inline with the new 52 stuff, or are the pulling from all over? This is kind of one of those games where I kind of wish they would just list everyone now, because guessing the cast for this is going to drive me nuts.

Games a day one as of now though, I just need to know if we are getting a CE before I pre-order, sad I know but this is also a game that I'm probably not going to mind getting DLC for..... at some point, hopefully not day one.

There was a random interview with hector talking a little bit about the cast.

Basically says they did a mix of well known characters and some lesser known characters that fanboys would love, also kinda heavily implies swamp thing, or at least something that could be considered a thing.

I originally was just writing this off as a re-skinned MK, but it looks way crazier and more fun than I imagined. Will buy! I really hope they make good choices with their heroes, and not boring characters like Captain Marvel, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, etc.

I am interested to know what you find boring about those characters.

Looks like they mixed melee style arena tactics and weapon usage into a fighter. Very different. Might turn off some folks, but I'm curious how it'll play out.

As for the character's I have to say Solomon Grundy's personality shines through so well with his animations. So much body language on that character to sell him. However, Batman and Flash have these basic stances that are really awkwaryd looking.

The Flash is kind of doing a Jeet Kun Do shuffle to show nervous energy, but it doesn't look right. He should be leaned over more like X-23 in UMVC3 to show he's always ready to dash since it would sell his body language closer to his comic book counterpart's most iconic poses.

Batman looks great with his bat shield, his ziplines and basically during any attack...however he has the worst stance ever. He should simply stand arms flat to his side looming like he ALWAYS does. If nothing else use a slightly defensive posture of knees sort of betn as well as arms loose but ready to come up to block. What he should not be doing is a pose where he constantly is flexing an arm even when he walks. It looks VERY unnatural and weird. It is especially wrong for his personality to have a sort of "vowing angrily" look to his pose. Batman looms. Mute his pose and let him sort of glide stalkingly and calmly in his standing pose. You don't have to wrap the cape around him, but he should loom NOT look like he's about to start a manly speech like he's Thor.

Those are my only gripes. I worry stage interaction might get out of hand so I like the idea of having an option to turn off stage tools if you wish to play purist. I don't think it should be the default at all, but I really think they should leave the option in there just as a way out in case they get negative feedback from fans. Simply let them turn it off if they want to complain. Me, I think I'll leave it on for awhile and see how it goes. If it feels like a smooth meshing of Smash Melee arena tactics in a more fleshed out fighter then I may be down for it. If it feels obstructive to my footsies or disruptive to combos and normal play then I'd turn it off.

God let it mean The Ray makes it in.

Not typically a fighting game fan, but this might be what changes that. I liked the environmental attacks as well as the supers. The character models look fantastic with all of the detail. The concept leaked shows helmets for Aquaman, GL, and Superman. Off planet combat would be cool. Places like Oa or Apokolips would be great to fight through. Still waiting for Static to be revealed.

yeah thinking about that too Oa or a space themed stage is almost a shoe in at this point if they are going to have Green Lantern, I would also think if your going to have Aqua man that atlantis is probably going to be a easy stage choice (beating someone with a shark could be fun) and Themyscira for Wonder Woman .

quite a number of characters i'm thinking could be strong choices for the game outside of the characters I already mentioned.

lots of ladies they could add

If they want a shape shifter style character like a Shang Sung they could go with Beast Boy

Of course we don't know if they will include any of the younger DC characters at this point but lots of possiblities there from the Titans.

Mister Mxyzptlk could also be a really fun character.

My only guess for a final boss character for this would have to be someone like Darkseid when you have everyone together like this.

Looks cool enough...but I just can't see them balancing all of these random gameplay elements into an elegant game.

I really like what they are trying to do with this game, and I can see some things going either way for them. My thoughts would take a lot of words to type up so I think tomorrow I'd like to go the extra mile and do a video letter to Nether Realm giving some honest feedback.

No "put this in" or " Needs this move, character or stage!" stuff....just real talk about the combat so far, the cinematics, and the animations. Legit stuff that once you are over opening the shiny new toy stick around to really mean the most about the game. I like how far they've taken things and Mortal Kombat lately has really turned my head. I am literally amazed at how good that game has gotten and in the potential this shows for Nether Realm to make some more serious fighters.

Looks pretty good, but fighting games have fooled me before.

Will keep an eye on this to see whether they can deliver.

Also, this game could be the ultimate nerdgasm fighter if they implement all kinds of alternative costumes for all characters. Like Ultimate comics, movies and cartoons.

Ed Boon does it again. This and MK 2011 looks better than most of the fighting games Scamcom has made this gen.

TRUTH!!!

so far what ive seen looks pretty interesting. Still think the animation could be better and it could use a bit more color but those are minor gripes.

I like the idea of stage interaction, but there are far too many cutscenes. Animations are terrible as usual, and here they don't even have the excuse of keeping the "MK" style.

I can see the reviews for this being crazy great. If you only play a game for a week, seeing the cutscenes over and over again doesn't get old. Netherrealms innovating fighting games: cutscenes. When are we going to get on the level of QTEs? Actually didn't they do that already for DC vs Mortal Kombat? (Still lagging behind CC2's Naruto games lol)

These fucking animations are killing me lol. They really need to fix Flash. His walking animation is just horrifying and here his running animation just falls flat (too slow and without any effort) and looks so silly. They are completely failing to capture the dynamic gestures of the comics. They need to watch some Justice League or something.

Theoretically Green Lantern would be one of the most interesting characters visually given the nature of the power, but most media usually sticks to giant green fists and walls...

There should be Vanilla Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) who is a boring dude with fists and shit and there should be Kyle Rayner Green Lantern who is basically like Dante in terms of character complexity with pirate ships and painting reenactments.

Speaking of which, the fact this isn't an "air-dash" game is tragic, but completely expected. They should do a DC vs Marvel and vice versa with Capcom in Marvel's corner. Put these characters to good use (and I bet they finally start to get some rarer dudes out there. The Rocket Raccoons and Iron Fists of the DCU).

EDIT: If stage selection is going to be vital then fighting games need to find a smarter way to pick them. Right now for games like Soul Calibur, Smash Bros, Virtua Fighter, Tekken, even Mortal Kombat 9, etc it is like to some degree your opponent or the computer is picking your character for you (e.g. a weak version of your keep away character or a strong version). Seriously thoughtless.

I like the environments playing a part in the battle and not just for aesthetics. It'll actually make people care about what level they're in, which is nice. And it seems to be slightly skill based so it's not crazy-crazy like some Smash Bros. levels.

The arenas look really nice, though (like everyone else has already pointed out) the transitions take too long and will probably become boring after 5-10 times. Hoping for a "turn off cutscenes" option available. The animations could have better flow, but they've got some time until the release to do that.

Solomon Grundy is pretty well designed (loving the fact that he literally uses the knives stuck in his back to fight), Flash is ok, Superman's the usual deal, but I've been unimpressed with Batman so far. His super-combo is especially 'meh'. But seeing as I'm a fan of DC Multiverse, the idea of all these characters beating the crap out of each other makes me want this game right now. Probably will buy.

I think Batman, Superman, and especially grundy animate great.

Flash not so much though, outside of his command dash and super, he doesn't feel very flash like, and has some strange moves, like the weird torpedo punch.

Oddly enough, I think his MK vs DC interpretation was much better, he felt very fast in the game from what little I played of it, and had more interesting specials.
On the other hand, I heard he was like completely broken because of it, but IDK.

EDIT: MKvsDC flash for comparison
Though that games animations in general were much worse.

I'm liking what I'm seeing, but since this game is unrelated to MK I don't understand why they decided to retain some animations and motions from the MK series (e.g. Idle animations). I kept thinking Netherrealm hung onto those to retain the classic MK feel, but now I'm wondering if that's the best they could do.

Then again, it's the same engine and there are shared assets, so I guess they might be trying to cut time and costs.

They're placeholders. MK9 was the same in the beginning--lots of recycled animations from MKvDC that were gone by release.

I like how Flash goes super fast, around the world and stuff, and then slaps Superman in the face without any energy... I had to laugh.

Agreed. His super is dull and unsatisfying. I know they want to keep him "grounded", but it's just so mundane. I also hate that his design is so heavily based on the Bale Batman - regular eyes instead of white eyes, and the face mask instead of cowl that makes him look pencil-necked.

Looks great. Can't wait to see which other characters make it in here, especially in terms of the Batman villains.

Mortal Kombat has been my favourite fighter of this gen so I'm definitely interested in this.

Looks pretty cool in some areas but I don't really like cut-scenes in my fighting games and the animation is typical Mortal Kombat stiffness.

Yeah, like everyone said I imagined that punch to send Superman flying, but isn't Flash relatively weak?

After all this is trying to stay true to the comics, I'm not sure.

I like what I'm seeing. Although it's a tad too gloomy looking for my liking that's why I never really got into MK actually.
The arena breaks and super pauses look pretty good the first couple times. Not sure about it when you're playing it for the 20th time or so.

Batman's Super felt pretty lame after that.

thats the downside to Batman in a game like this, being that he has no real powers outside of gadets and him being the most realistic of the bunch there really is not much they could do with him that would be able to top what some of the other characters are capable of.

I'm interested in what we will see in reguards to modes, unlockables, etc. The guys at NR are awesome about that kind of stuff, but we did not really get much in that reguard when it came to MK vs DC. It would pretty awesome if DC allows them add plenty of costume options, also think that a challange tower style of mode could be really cool here, going to be a long wait for this game.

YES YES YES.

I've wanted a full on DC only fighter for a damn long time. Hoping either Doomsday or Darkseid are in this, I want my balls to the wall brutal Superman fight.

Darkseid was the Shao Kahn equivalent on MKvsDCU, and Doomsday was going to be the second DLC character after Harley Quinn. I'd say they are locks.

So hype. I just wish for a classic Harley alt, but I'm guessing NR will provide. As well as a great story mode.

Mortal Kombat 9 was great fun with friends and this looks equally great. Can't wait to see who they add to the roster, looks like there are a lot of open spots.

Flash in games is never well made, he should be fast, in this game even when he runs he is slow :(

Yeah, the way he's animated etc. - looks like an alternate version of scorpion. I guess they pretty much just changed some textures and the costume and bam done is the super heros game. :)

He doesn't animate anything like scorpion, he doesn't have any similar normals, and there stances and movement are very different, scorpion is a lot slower and stiffer. They actually do share one thing in common, but it's not even shown in that video, they both have a similar leg takedown move, other then that, there completely different.

Looks better yes plays better no!! This game looks like fun and at the same time looks like hot garbage especially with those long ass cut-scenes. Just like MK it still looks clunky with all those still movements but i'll live. Besides if they give me zatanna i'll be alright, and if they give me alternate costumes which I already know they'll have i'll buy it. Won't be able to take this serious like MK9 but it should be fun for what it is.
