Neither of them need it they are both in strong positions and the parent companies have no interest as far as the public know. One of the Avengers/JLA writers said before how the people who could make it happen have no reason to push something like this.

It always then comes down to DC not wanting Superman and others to get clowned by the competition and the same for marvel

If it was a fighting game, anyone could get clowned by anyone.

Has NR mentioned whether it's going to be 60 fps like MK?

Also, as much as I generally dislike season passes, I much prefer it over Capcom's rerelease routine since you can still play with others who have the new characters if you choose not to buy them.

Yes, its a fighting game, it would be silly for it to be anything less.

They could go the MvC3 route: basic ass set up. Arcade endings are just wacky "what if" scenarios.

Conversely: DC/Marvel SRPG. Getting crits with Superman and Black Panther all day.

Pretty sure they're going the MK9 route (by far the most entertaining story mode for a fighting game I've ever played) with a single mode with all the characters.

I was talking about the hypothetical Marvel/DC game. I know this one is going to have a big storyline.

I think if Marvel vs DC ever happened it deserves to be treated as seriously as possible and given an enormous storymode. Both comic fans and fighting fans as well as just casual folks who just enjoy the summer blockbusters have always wanted to see this done up as a big deal. Silly what if endings would feel like a let down.

If it helps someone told Boon he should do it someday and he responded with "From your mouth to God's Ears."
Boon's a troll so this likely doesn't mean a single thing, but hey if you want to hold out hope Stan Lee is appearing in Battle Arena discussions and DC stuff now. The companies might want to push for some major crossover like this to try and draw folks back into comics and increase sales respectively for both company's properties.

Something that also helps with this is something teased about Injustice Gods Among Us today...
This Video has Harley Quinn talking about Joker. This is a different Joker though than the one that died in this world. I'm betting this sets the stage for travel to different Earths in this world's storyline. If this is a different Joker they don't have to coddle the cast and can kill as many as they want in storyline without causing issues for a sequels roster since they could just bring in various versions of the dead heroes from other Earths.

The alt skins with mission mode stories may also tie into this plot device. Say we access their missions in their alternate Earths through a STAR labs portal of some kind.

Anyhow what I'm getting at is if the two comic book giants want to do DC vs Marvel through WB and NRS tied to this game's cast and its character history if this game does well they may very well have written in a failsafe into the main storymode which would allow for just that thing.

Marvel/DC ULTIMATE Alliance please

Oh lord no...that game series was glitchy as hell and mad redundant. It let me down on every level and I bought into both. Combat needed way more to it than the dull Diablo style this game had. Combos? team tactics? nope..run away run back and mash the same 3 hit attacks. Even the supers overlapped for group moves and were dull. Plus the costumes and models were garbage. Did you see the fail that was Iron Fist in that game? The concept art was great, but my GOD was it poorly modeled.

Ultimate Alliance is dead for a reason. It failed to implement any single element from graphics, to story, to gameplay correctly. It was just a bunch of cameos.

And I don't want come off as hating on fighting games with that comment(after reading it over). It's just that seeing all of the work that's going into the Story mode, and knowing that my interaction with it is just two dudes on a 2D plane hitting each other with the minigames sprinkled in between just seems...underwhelming?

An RPG outsourced to Atlus. That's my dream.
If I get to swoon Zatanna, Psylocke, and Wonder Woman, you might have me on board.
I would want it to be like that canceled Marvel Fighter.
The supposed sequel to Nemesis or the one that leaked a few months back?

What do you expect? Serious question.

By that logic, this and MVC are just fighting games with a super hero skin on it.

Besides having a bunch of characters from Marvel in it what did it have to draw you in? The stories both failed to deliver since sadly even though the sequel did Civil War it didn't get implemented well towards gameplay. It was just kill a crowd and then random boss with poor build up of said boss throughout the level. Just the old "stop right there!" intro everytime and then a fight.

But seriously the gameplay was repetitive in a dull way, the tag supers were redundant with too few unique combos, and the graphics on the character models were bad.

They weren't very good games. They simply had a license to draw folks in. MVC had gameplay worth a damn and good graphics.

Best way for a Marvel Vs DC game to work would be a big hand crafted story mode like MK9 had, The only issue is building a roster to please everyone.

It would be nice for a studio to dedicate themselves to the project and support it with constant DLC so the game could have a huge roster.

Treat it like an MMO support it wit "Packs" that include 4 characters from DC and 4 from marvel and adds a little story scenario showing what they did during the crossover event.

For example

DLC pack 1

Deathstroke
Grodd
Hush
Sinestro

Deadpool
Sabertooth
Punisher
Silver Surfer

Deathstroke/Hush start a tag tam match with Deadpool/Punisher
Grodd and Sabertooth end up going toe to toe in a wildlife reserve
Sinestro and Surfer fight on a asteroid or the moon

Wait, i loathe DLC but love both Blackest Night and Red Son. Is this Season pass thing 4 DLC packs or just 4 skins/characters? If its not the packs im seriously just waiting for a goty version with all the dlc.

Its 4 DLC characters, with 3 costumes from the Flashpoint comic, which is exclusive to this Season Pass. You get WW, Aquaman and Deathstroke.

The blackest night "pack" only has 1 skin, Batman's. Red Son is Superman, Grundy, and Wonder Woman. The Season pass is 4 upcoming characters that will be released later this year plus Flashpoint costumes for Wonder Woman, Deathstroke, and Aquaman. The 4 characters will be available outside of the season pass as well, but at a higher price. The Red Son and Blackest Night stuff will also be available for money at a later date but honestly I would just go with Red Son for the pre-order. It comes with 20 extra challenge mode missions.

If you really want all the skins they will release for this game (which will probably be way way more than what has been announced so far) then yeah I guess you can wait a year or however long for the GOTY version. You will be missing out on actually playing the game itself though for an entire year. Personally, I don't think that is worth the trade off.

Isn't the idea behind season passes that after you purchased this, all dlc will be yours when they happen?

All DLC that is included in that particular pass.

It's a season pass, not a lifetime pass.

You get 4 characters and 3 Flashpoint suits. You get to buy the Red Son suits for money, later, unless you preorederd at GS. Then you get to buy the new 52 suits for money at a later time, unless you got the collector's edition. Then you can buy the Arkham suits, unless you bought at Walmart.

I WISH I could just pay $120 for the game upfront and have all the DLC costumes preordered, so I didn't have to worry about making sure to save and have the money rot hem when they finally let me buy them, but no such luck.

Actually, it comes down to Quesada being a prick this one time and DC basically saying they weren't doing a crossover with Marvel until he was gone.

So, like everything wrong with Marvel, the fact you haven't gotten a game like this can be laid at the feet of Joe Quesada

I just read something interesting over at another forum:

If you look at these silhouettes, three of them are clearly just generic place-holders, but one instantly stands out. The dude with his arms crossed. His pose is the only one that looks like a legit hero/villain pose (while the other 3 are just standing around). He also has unique boots and some sort of spike things on his arms. On the promotional poster, he is also the first one from the left, making me think he'll be the first DLC to come out.

I recall then after MK9 was finished with its DLC, Ed Boon mentioned how they had to remove the claws and hat from Freddy's silhouette because they knew it would make him easily recognizable. It's possible that this arm-crossed dude had something removed (like, lets say a cape) for the same reason.

Yeah, this is probably right considering this silhouette is clearly not generic like the other 3. Not really surprising though and I would be happy to get Martian Manhunter into this game in any way whatsoever.

In other news, the PAX Injustice stream starts in about 20 minutes at http://www.twitch.tv/twitch

Less than 1 minute until Injustice is on the twitch stream. Hoping for some Black Adam gameplay...and more Hawkgirl.

I think its the same build that was used for the press tour, which doesn't have her in it for some reason.

That's an...Injustice.

Oh well, Black Adam footage at least then. Probably more Raven too.

EDIT: It's on.

Arturo Sanchez and NerdJosh will be playing on this stream after Hector shows us some stuff.
