I wanted to point out this game as I just received my copy in the mail the other day and it’s really, really good. It’s a homebrew release by a group of guys calling themselves Aetherbyte Studios (http://www.aetherbyte.com/). It’s essentially a Berserk clone, but it’s done amazingly well. And as good as the game is, the packaging is even better; the disc art, cover art, and jewel case look exactly like the Duo games that came out in the early 90s. Really cool.

Anyway, it’s $30, which I think is pretty fair. I’m a big Turbo fanboy, so I thought I’d spread the word here.

Here’s a video with some placeholder music. (Obviously, they couldn’t really use Mr. Roboto in the final game). You can also play a timed demo on their website with a Turbo/PC Engine emulator.

Cool deal that they are releasing a game for such an old (and great) system...but man...those graphics are just horrid. The TurboGrafx-16 (let alone the TurboDuo) was way more capable than that.

I'll agree with that to an extent. I was a bit disappointed by the graphics as well. But considering it's their first game, based on Berserk, and it played and was packaged so well, I let that slide.

If this is the closest thing to a 2009 release of Berzerk, I feel sad inside.

Meh, the idea is awesome...but the game is hideously ugly by any standards. :\
