Inscryption sold 1 million copies (PC exclusive)

Great, I bought it on the EGS sale for 5.- and it's honestly GOTY material, I hope the beta "endless mode" on steam comes to EGS too though.

No hype, no marketing, no circus barkers, no corp slaves, etc. just real players will find and support great games.

It doesnt always happen though, but i'm glad when it does. Too many good games get lost in Steams literal 50-100 new games a day release frenzy.
Havent played this but read a lot of good stuff about it.

That's not really true, at least relative to the games budget and genre. There was enough buzz to get the game time on streamers schedule and it went from there.

Amazing game, entirely deserved and more hopefully.

Up to Botopia at the moment. Gotta admit, i prefer the first act in the game so far, but it takes a lot of guts to go where this guy went with the game. Very unique.

Amazing game, bought it on GOG myself and just finished it last week. One of my favorite games from 2021, full stop.

I had no idea the game even existed, until a friend of mine pointed out that the voucher during the EGS sale had unlimited use, and pointed out a few good deals.
Watched 5 seconds of footage and then bought it.

Deck building? Is it like Slay the Spire?

I'd guess this will be coming to Switch soon. Devolver seems to put their higher profile games on Switch before other consoles (Katana Zero, The Messenger, My Friend Pedro). The only recent example I can think of that wasn't on Switch first was Fall Guys.

I have a family member who is a streamer and he was given a free copy to promote it.

Edit: I'm pretty sure he streamed pony Island in the past and was in contact with the main developer before this released.

Played it.....got hooked.....really confused though as I finally advanced to the point where the game changes drastically, still have to revisit because it felt like I had to relearn the game.

I think it also caught, like I looked and big YouTubers were playing it because word of mouth. But design of the game lends itself to that so not like it was unself conscious

I enjoyed it. A very interesting and unique experience, although I don't think it has any replay value now that I've completed it.

Weren't a bunch of Twitch streamers sponsored to play this?

Not that selling a million copies isn't still a mindblowing achievement of course, really well done.

Nice. Ended up being my GOTY, when I couldn't decide what the "best" game was, I went with the most inventive.

There absolutely was "hype" even if it was small, it's a product, it's not going to not be marketed in some way. I heard Danny talking about it on the Bombcast.

CohhCarnage def got an early key to play the game because i was literally just watching his plathrough to see what the game is like.
I do have to admit though that i didnt know about the game until i saw it mentioned a month or two ago, and i'm on Steam daily.

I agree with others in that the first act is good and the rest is not as good. And unless you like roguelikes you won't even like the first act.

Certainly, but to say there was "No hype, no marketing", etc is just flat wrong.

On my list of favorite games of all time, i hope it gets a sequel. I saw someone ask about him actually creating a card game real-life cause id buy it.
