As a kid in the 90s nothing compared to hitting the arcade my local one was almost pitch black and only lit by the CRT screens
I would lose hours in there and only feel like I was gone for 30 mins you'd see kids, teen couples making out, elderly people, corpo guys
who just got out of the office and the scum of the earth lol....all in the same place just trying to forget everything and have a good time
I miss that feeling how gaming was bringing all ages all walk of life together just to have fun
When I was barely old enough to start going to the arcade by myself the six button X-Men Cabinet had just come out
MANNNN the LINES for that thing
The Super Mario cab with the trackball, the SEGA racers with the cool bucket seats and stick shift controls!
When X-MEN COTA came out me and my friends just about lost our minds the "VS" era was a whole different animal the guys that
took those CPS2 games serious were NO JOKE...I don't know what it was about that scene all those dudes were thugged out street guys
or wild college kids who would be quick to fight each other thank goodness for the Saturn during 3-6th grade we could play at home..safely kids were getting hurt by the late 90s but I grew up in a big city it was different
The arcade in the youtube video is a poor example
looks like some quick pop up the REAL arcades were a lot more gritty
This scene from the movie "Juice" captures that era perfectly for me
