The newest chapter in the terrifying horror series is written and directed by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell. This chilling prequel, set before the haunting of the Lambert family, reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl (Stefanie Scott) who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity.

Release Date: May 29th, 2015.

Haven't watched the trailer yet. But why is having a prequel about the second couple a good idea? It makes it look that they are running out of ideas. I really thought it was about the father and son. Time for awkward twist, and they are all related?

wait, there was a second one?

Insidius is the one with the darth maul looking demon right?

They probably are running out of ideas but the first 2 movies made way too much money not to pursue at least one more sequel with the name (plus they're very cheap movies so there's very little risk involved in making more of them). We're also going to get a ton of Conjuring Sequels and Spin-offs if Annabelle is anything to go by.

I must admit both Insidious and Conjuring were quality scare movies. The music in Insidious in particular is freaky as fuck.

the insidious series has nothing to do with the conjuring one right?

haven't seen the movies but knowing that Patrick Wilson and James Wan are involved in both makes me mistake one for the other.

Yep, dassit.

I loved the first movie-second one was decent. This looks awful with a teenage girl protagonist. At least the rest of the trailer shows the investigators from the first films who I loved.

They dont suck though....at least they are good enough and have high enough RT ratings to give them a shot.

Insidious CH 1 was great. Few jump scares and absolutely top-tier set design when they're in the spirit world. It's The Conjuring that sucks. Dude's incapable of scaring someone unless he starts the film with a, "this is totally real guys," caption card. The whole, "let's base a scary story on tenets of western monotheism," trope is getting really tired.

I get why they do this. It's relatable for a majority of western audiences because they actually do believe in this nonsense. Doesn't mean that it doesn't get old.

No. Don't. It sucks.

WHY DOES JAMES WAN KEEP GETTING WORK?

Because he's a good director.

Well it's based off the supposedly real stories of Ed and Lorraine Warren.

Well i be atheist and you be cray cray my main man

Would saying, "I think The Conjuring is massively overrated and I wish James Wan would take more inspiration from Eastern religions because that's a fairly untapped source material in the west," be a better way of stating my discontent?

:P

:P

People in the West are more familiar with what they know, hence why you get a lot more of that stuff produced. Besides it is not the subject matter that makes a movie good but rather the skill with which it is directed.

Again, the 3rd one is techincally the first. House of Blum gonna be busy in 2015 with this, Sinister 2 and...Jem.

They making a Sinister 2? Goddamn that movie freaked me out something fierce. Something about home movies of families being murdered with creepy music playing gets me.

I thought saw 2 was decent. It was all downhill fast after that though.

No way, compare to first one Saw 2 sucked. But yeah it was a good movie. Better than the rest that came out after.

Agree

Dawn of the Dead was kind of a sequel to Night of the Living Dead, that shit was good. I thought 28 weeks later wasnt awful, actually enjoyed it. Evil Dead 2 wasnt bad.

Thanks, I just checked it on Netflix and its there. With great ratting, I can't figure out how I missed it. Will watch it tonight

No. Don't. It sucks.

WHY DOES JAMES WAN KEEP GETTING WORK?

Because The Conjuring grossed over 300 millions worldwide (horror movies rarely go over 100 usually) and probably made a ton more in dvd/rentals/vods. It's not really surprising he's getting a lot of work.

I enjoyed the first two quite a bit actually. Liked them more than The Conjuring, which I thought was garbage. I will watch this one in the theater!

I'm a big fan of the first two, but after that trailer I'm not too optimistic. Having the psychic and the two goofy investigators is a good thing though.

Bring on James Wan with The Conjuring 2.

hmm

didnt the psychic lady or ghost hunter lady who was in dumber and dumber and kingpin die in the first movie?

Welp, time to watch Insidious, Conjuring, and Evil Dead 2. I haven't seen these yet nor heard about them

The Conjuring was a legitimately great scary movie. One of the best in years. Evil Dead 2 is a cult classic. Insidious 1 was also great but the end was kinda Meh.

I hope people realize that James Wan isn't directing this one.

Leigh Whannell, the guy who plays one of the paranormal investigators (the guy with glasses, not the bearded guy) in Chapter 1 and 2, the guy who played Adam (the photographer in Bathroom, not Cary Elwes) in Saw 1, and the writer of Saw 1-3 and the Insidious movies is directing.

He has never directed a movie before. And with that said, some of those scenes look fairly well directed for a guy who has never been behind the camera.

First and second films are pretty much just one long film. The second starts right after the first, so I just view them as one long film.
