Insomniac betrayalton! And nobody cares?

Fuse hurt because i love Ratchet and Clank so much. If they're burnt out on the Lombax and crew that's fine, but why Fuse? I'll see how this next one goes. I think they should StarCitizen it, get out from under a big producer's thumb and let the humor rip.

They are still independent, and there is nothing stopping them from making an exclusive for PS4 (traditional Ratchet and Clank), hint hint.

I didn't know people hated Insomniac now. I'm not surprised by much here.

Whatever the case I enjoyed the whole Resistance game line up.

Ratchet & Clank needs to get here asap.

So did I. Resistance 2 online co-op was amazing

Their was an interview earlier (can't remember where) with Insomniac. They are developing a game with Microsoft because MS is publishing and allowing Insomniac to retain ownership of their new IP. Insomniac stated that they definately hold their Playstation history in high regards and plan on developing for Sony in the future. So essentially they just want to set out and own what they create. Ratchet and Clank isn't owned by them and that makes them a bit sad I imagine. Anyone know what interview this was?

I really don't care about insomniac, they're not like naughty dog or media molecule who, if they left, I would be really upset and they can't leave Sony because Sony owns them. Let mircosoft take insomniac, they're not gonna be missed apart from less ratchet and clank.

I don't get why they developed exclusively for XBO, though? why not just go multiplat if they wanted the moolah so much? that way everybody wins. Thats why I wasn't too fussed about FFXV going multiplat.

I don't see this as a betrayal at all. They've simply moved on, and while they're doing an Xbone exclusive for now, I think they'll revert back to multiplatform development.

I don't think anyone hates insomniac. I think they just don't elicit much emotion at all. I don't consider this a betrayalton.

I think it's a shame they left sony, especially since Naughty Dog no longer does the annual platformer. Insomniac is an awesome studio, and while i don't like where the studio's last 5 years of output was heading, i'm sure they are still among the most talented of studio's in the business, and a great coup for Microsoft ( if they can return to form that is)

"Fallen far" because they are making an Xbox game? What?

Game looked pretty awesome. Seems like maybe FUSE was just to get a game out and fund development on this one.

I'd say the opposite. Sunset Overdrive looks like it will be from their second team whilst they continue to work on another Fuse (depending on how well it does I guess).

The game looked intriguing until he pulled out a gun and started blasting away waves of zombie-like enemies.

Seriously an open world parkour platformer would be really sweet.

The main character design is also HORRENDOUS. Seriously.

I'll stick with their Ratchet titles next gen, if there's no Resistance then I will simply ignore Fuse and this new IP.

Enjoyed the Ratchet series. No interest in Resistance of Fuse.

Sunset Overdrive looks neat and vibrant. But I'm not interested in the XB1.

I wish them well though, and hopefully people that do buy the XB1 pick up their game.

Edit: And yeh, the main character is hideous as mentioned above.

OWCH @CEOKazHirai

I like Insomniac but they need to do what they need to do. Bungie went "across the isle" as well (even moreso as they were once a part of MS). It's the natural ebb and flow of things.

I admit Sunset Overdrive was one of the only X1 titles I thought looked really interesting. But I ain't buying a $500 box for that and Capy's roguelike.

I don't envy Microsoft fans who have to act like they enjoy Insomniac games now. Sony fans finally got rid of that curse.

If it wasn't obvious: I don't like their games at all and I don't think it's a win for Microsoft or loss for Sony.

That Sunset Overdrive didn't even look that great. Pretty unremarkable imo. They are free to do whatever they want, though.

What? R2 is the one that fucked things up.

R2 was still a solid game and always kept me on the edge of my seat. Granted R2's ending was....an indication that the series will take a turn for a new direction but I was seriously hoping they would not fuck up with a very hollywood type cliche ending like in R3

Wait. Open world parkour with zombies? Isn't that Dying Light to the tee lol?

Don't give a damn, they already went multiplatform. I loved Resistance 1, the R&C games were cool.. However, you could start to see the quality of Insomniac games go down hill with R2. I'm aware R3 is better, but R2 was so bad it didn't take much to top that effort.

It was painfully obvious.

Would have cared back in the day, sadly they've distant themselves from the only IP I really cared about from them.

Now I don't care. I hope them success with their endeavours and maybe one day they'll make something I'd like to play again.

I'm not into R&C or Resistance so while I don't want to undermine their importance as developer, I am not that fond of their conceptual ideas for games.

Considering the lack of fucks given about Fuse at the moment and the fact that Sunset Overdrive didn't look astonishingly good by any measure... yeah it's hard to care about any Insomniac betrayal happening right now. They're following a downward trajectory and it's very noticeable.

Now that's just cold.

I haven't liked any of Insomniac's games in years. R&C Future: Tools of Destruction was the last game of theirs I truly loved, so I'm not bothered that they're making a game for a system I refuse to buy.

It's just another shooter anyway. Not like I'll be wanting for those on PC and PS4. If It was a mascot platformer I may be more upset...

I'd rather have a new IP than another FPS.

Sunset Overdrive looks bad tho. Like... if it was a CG movie, the characters and action look stupid as hell.

Obviously, I can't tell what gameplay will be like from a CG trailer.

They destroyed Resistance series with Resistance 3. So yeah don't care.

wut

Resistance 3 was fucking awesome!
Loved the art direction, loved the narrative, graphics were good, good music. It was a massive improvement over the lackluster R2.

Insomniac still has a great deal of talent, IMO. It's good for MS is they've tied up a few exclusives from them.

That said, Sunset Overdrive is way too bright and cartoonish for my tastes. My head literally hurt after watching the trailer.
I appreciate that Insomniac is going back to their R&C 'silly' roots (especially after the poo-fest that is FUSE), but it's just not a style that interests me.

Insomniac shows off a colorful CG trailer with wacky characters and silly weapons.

After Fuse, no one gives a fuck and no one SHOULD.

Yeah I think people have just sort of lost interest since they've been falling off hard on console games and talking iOS/facebook.

I was a bit disappointed to see them accept whatever they accepted to be a part of pushing this DRM scheme though. Lately I've been buying their stuff just because I like them, I can't support them now though.

I mean, what they're doing is directly pushing MS's policies in my eyes. I'm sure they were offered a good deal, so I hope it was worth it.

Isn't about platform betrayal, but consumer betrayal from my perspective.

Yes let's throw out entire developers because of a single bad game.

I'm not saying their newest game looks great but come on.
