Introducing DualSense, the New Wireless Game Controller for PlayStation 5

I think it's sexy as hell.

Microsoft played it beyond safe with their controller design - they basically changed nothing - but the Xbox One controller was close to perfect. But, it took away that thrill of seeing the new controller you'd be using for the next six or so years.

I hope it feels solid like the DS4, with a much better battery life. Also, with haptics in their controller, I believe this bodes well for PSVR2 controllers 😌

The 'V' shape one? I want something like that a hell of a lot more than I want a huge-ass 80's video player like the XB1; or a minipc/2-stacked-NGC's XBSX form factor, personally.

There is a comparison because the pics looks way different from the Xbox controller I used.

To be fair I found the shape similar to DS4.

I'm glad Sony actually made an effort.

Xbox controllers are decent for sure but very "safe".

The Dual Shock 4 was fantastic compared to the awful 3 and this in turn looks like another upgrade.

MS basically added a share button on the Xbone controller whereas the DS 5 looks to have some great additional features.

It really feels MS has made a very powerful, safe and serviceable console and Sony have gone for a more exotic and interesting machine overall.

I don't think i like that. the 3 color motif of white, black and <lightbar color> ofsets each other quite nicely. But I do wish the face buttons had their etchings in a bolder font than the 1 line grey of the real controller.
 
Looks cool I guess. Missed opportunity for a full colour playstation logo on that black background. Would've been a nice aesthetic touch.

Can someone try to colour it? Would love to see how it looks.

The colors are good. I've seen a shop in black and it looks more like a knock-off controller. I like the way the design seems like the modern white part took over the old DS4 underneath.

I'm not a fan that the left analogue is still not in the primary position.

And releasing a back button accessory for DS4 I hope this releases with one for a smooth transition for those used to it. It shouldn't represent a step back from that.

It looks fragile. I don't know if the white shells are separate pieces, but they look like they could pop right off. The black recolor looks solid and thus, more comfortable. I feel like I can hold that without worrying about protecting it.
 
Massive improvement on the tired old design which I've never liked but thumbsticks are still wrong so I'm still not in.
 
Sony already wins with design and now we k ow the ps5 will be white which is a huge win. The Xbox looks horrible in that Matt blackgray color.
 
Maybe it's just me but I like the colour scheme. Hope the console is the same. Something different.

Damn, now that's what you call a departure. Always been a fan of the DS so I'll have to wait and see how it feels in the hand, but if get somewhat to what the 360 controller felt like I'm all for it.
 
So WHYTE PS5? God damn Trump and his White supremacy.

At least the light bar is gone, but now its replaced by some other light under the controler? Or is that just coloring?

There are two mini light bars. One on each side of the touchpad. Thats the only lights they mentioned in the blog post

it would be a insta no buy, really doubt they do only white. but if they do well fuck em.

my thoughts would be limited edition launch white but also black standard.

So clean with it's blue (player 1)/white/black, just like the visual astetic of the PSVR. It looks space-age and cool to me.


I worry it looks a bit big. I hate the XB1 controller for that reason. With the handles angled outwards, maybe the analouge sticks will be hard to stretch your thumbs-out to?
 
Real pretty controller.
My issue is battery life. As long as battery life has significantly been increased, I'm good.

Side Note: This possibly means the PS5 has a two tone design, with LED.
 
I still find the Xbox One controller better for playing FPS than Dualshock 4. Lets see if Dualsense change the table.
