Hey y'all, just a quick heads up that Cook, Serve, Delicious! is coming to iPhone 5 and iPod Touch 5 this Thursday for $2.99! That price is good for the next few weeks, and then it'll go back to $3.99.

It'll be a free app download, and you'll be able to play for free for more than an hour's worth of gameplay, so I hope you check it out. :D

Ok, sorry for the self promotion there.

$3? Yet you have the audacity to charge $10 on PC? :)

But in all seriousness, CSD is great fun. I'm curious how it plays because CSD on the go would be a welcome addition to my phone.

I too am a bit burnt out on iOS games though, and why lately have been mainly playing PC and PS4, but more 'unique' games like those from Simogo are always welcome. Though Year Walk on PC? How will that work? And I'm not talking about pricing...

ui looks a bit cluttered lol. curious how it plays on iphone.

Pretty well actually! Surprisingly so, haha.

Cook serve delicious is great but no 4s support? Really up shit creek on iOS if you don't constantly uograde.
This was more of a fun release for me. There was no way of supporting 4s without dramatically cutting out features to save memory, so I just opted to support 5s only.

If it only makes $100 or so I'm ok with it.

what's the idea of that game?

Haha well to be fair the PC version has lots more features and content. :D

I've also been a bit burned out on iOS releases...played the Room 2 which was good but not as much as the Room 1, and I've just been playing Boom Beach regularly. FTL is going to be fantastic though, can't wait for that one.

will have to see if its easy to mess up tapping ingredients with the fat thumbs D:

so its pretty much a direct port of the ipad version ala same motions inputs for all foodies?

you should take a over teh shoulder cam video of your pro skills of this ;)

What color iPad Air do you have? I was looking for a backing for mine and these look nice. but I have a space gray iPad, so which would cover it without destroying the nice look?

Mine is white. I'll try and snap a pic and put it in the iPad air thread for you.

OK, I've fallen in love with Overlive - Zombie Survival RPG. My train ride was a blur and I'm still playing. To anyone that's played it, is there anything else like this on iOS?

Zday, not a test.

I am enjoying Angry Birds Go while waiting for Mario Kart Wii U. Are there any other good Kart games for iOS?

Sonic all stars and racing transformed. Not really a Kart racer but Table Top Racing is pretty good too.

Thanks for the recommends. Turns out I had Zday already. Must have been free at one point and i picked it up without knowing what it is. I'll be sure to check out This is not a Test.

There's no input lag to speak of on Mini 1st gen, iPad 2 and iPad Air. Don't know about other devices, sorry, tho I've never seen that mentioned before. The game will either run buttery smooth at 60fps locked with perfect response times or be messy like I explain below: it's not like even when it runs fine you can also experience input lag.
On Mini 1st gen (and at least also on iPad 4th going by your post) there's a problem with stuttering tho, which is probably what you're experiencing, were the game craps out and becomes a 15fps stuttery mess: you'll notice it straight away as soon as Commander Video enters a level; after the update it can be fixed by simply exiting out of the level and going back in (it's pretty straightforward), they've acknowledged the bug tho (which I also point out in my post) and working on an update coming soon (as per their twitter feed @BitTrip). The problem will usually come up when your wifi/3G gets spotty/drops momentarily (like I was saying to Mario a few posts before) or you earn a GC achievement, probably related to a memory leak especially when there's "talk" between the game and the device's dormant apps/features.
Since the last update the port's performance has increased ten folds, it's safe to recommended it in my opinion.
Of course, as I've mentioned, if an update wasn't coming then I'd be less lenient but I'm super picky about framerate and response lag and luckily it's pretty quick to go out of the level and then back in.
We should ask Mario, or other devs who post itt, but my guess (just a guess!) is that if it were a "real" widespread memory leak I don't think you'd be able to fix it unless closing the app, which isn't the case here since you get to run it in a perfect state again while always staying in-app.

About the input lag: there's a noticeable lag when doing the actions that definitely doesn't exist in the PC version. It's specially noticeable when jumping: tapping should result in a instant jump, and it clearly doesn't. I should compare the two versions again, but I remember having no such problems with the PC version and having it (and doing pretty badly in the game as a result) with the iOS version.

The frame rate issue: I didn't know they were trying to address them (I don't follow them on Twitter), but it still hasn't been fixed a couple of months or so later, which is pretty worrying. I mean, both the devices I tested it on are pretty recent: the A6-powered iPhone 5c and the A6X-powered iPad with Retina Display. They shouldn't have any problems running the game, considering that an iPad 2 runs it perfectly, according to your impressions.

Also, an odd thing about the port: the way you are supposed to skip videos. You have to pinch out, like a Youtube video or a picture, :lol. Took me a while to figure it out.

I'm not a fan of LEGO games but Star Wars The Complete Saga is pretty good. It's a full port of the console game instead of a grimped version made for portables.

Because this enchanced remake costs 3 times as much on PC as it does on App Store. I bought every previous Wadjet Eye game, but I would just feel very uncomfortable supporting them now. Same with future releases that will try to exploit pcgamers. I like their games enough that I might still get them when they're in some cheap bundle or -85% sale on Steam. But full priced? No way. I feel like Wadjet eye is spitting in faces of people who supported them through all those years. I know that's not really the case, but that's how it feels like.

You're gonna end up boycotting a whole lot of developers soon if that's your philosophy. iOS and PC are simply different markets. I'm pretty sure Avadon 2 will be cheaper on iOS when it comes out, just like its predecessors. Does that make the dev greedy? He's been charging $20 and over for his PC games since the 90s. Now all of a sudden he becomes a greedy bastard exploiting PC gamers for charging 2x the iOS price?

Jet Car Stunts 2 rating creeping down. They really should have just made the game a flat $5, or kept the in-game store to a single $5 unlock all pack. At first glance you can easily see the store and think they're charging a ton of money for all the content.

Most of the negative reviews seem to be about the game crashing and their audacity to not let you play through the whole game for free. I don't think changing their admittedly confusing price model would help with these people, unless it centered around timers and gassing up your car.

Welcome to iOS.

I rarely pay attention to App Store reviews. Are there really idiots complaining about all the levels not being free? Damn it, stuff like that just makes us passionate/hardcore IOS gamers suffer in the long run.

Sry but i rather pay money and have a full game instead of this IAP crap. Its confusing as hell and in the long run i always have the feeling that i got ripped off.

Ocean horn is perfect, showing how its done in a good way. A price point which is maybe high, but you get a full fledged game.

I think it's actually pretty brilliant. You get try to the game for free. You get the full game for $4,99. It's 100% premium, there's no freemium BS. Or you just buy what you want. If you never want to play time trials or don't like the editor, then only buy the platforming levels

It's a free game with a $5 unlock. You get all the content, a full-fledged game, for $5. How is that confusing or a rip-off?

After bitching I was taking a break from all non-boardgame games on iOS, the terribly named Empire: The Deck Building Strategy Game dropped to $1. I know, I know... but I'm not really a 4x fan. Turns out it's not really 4x, and actually fairly fun. A few very simple systems - build your towns, your army, your deck, fight! - work together in a neat way. Recommended!

App Store reviews are good for a laugh, unless you're a developer. I remember when they added new content to Ravenmark as IAP (ie an expansion pack), and people freaked out. Giving 1-star reviews because, 'i already $$$$ for ths app, that shit should bee freee yo!' Ravenmark ended up having to include the expansions, and just increased the price of the app:)

Yep. I will. As I already said for those titles I really want I will just wait till bundle or extremely cheap sale. But I definitely will never buy a full priced release from them anymore as long as they continue this nonsense. Nor will I ever support their Kickstarters or alpha access. It won't be easy, but in the end I will pay less and stick to my principles. So it's a win-win situation for me.

Maybe not greedy, but shady and discespectful? Sure. Thankfully I doubt he will. Avadon 2 costs 9 euros on Steam, the same as Avadon 1 costs on iPAd now.

Any recommendations for games similar to The Room? I've already finished Year Walk and Device 6, but crave some more puzzle-solving, intricate storied goodness.

Did Ubisoft ever release Ghost Recon Shadow Wars on iOS ?

Did Ubisoft ever release Ghost Recon Shadow Wars on iOS ?

Sadly, no.

According to some rumors apparently Ubisoft was trying to force iAPs in the game, but then the project was halted/stopped/whatever.

I bet they are eating their own hands after seeing XCOM success (and many other TBS).

But you know...just rumors...the only sure thing is that they actually showed the game playable (and very good looking) on iPad some years ago....then nothing else.

What a waste.

No, and it breaks my heart. They could've ported the 3DS title straight over, tidied up the graphics a bit and I'd have gladly paid £40 for it.

I'd love to know what went wrong. It seemed like it was nearly finished and then it just disappeared.

Not really anything like The Room, but if you want a game with an interesting concept and story, check Spider: Secret of Bryce Manor. It's awesome.

...it's a 360 pad.

Basically yeah, with Playstation style analog pad positions and hopefully a better d-pad. And isn't that what we want? It's strange that seems so hard to make and silly prices have to be this high. At this point there can't be much doubt left that the last part is Apple's doing, can there?

Well, yeah. I'd buy one if it was sensibly priced. Nothing wrong with ripping off a great design.

Dunno. Much as I'm loathed to give them the benefit of the doubt, it could just be collusion amongst the pad manufacturers themselves.

Something is definitely amiss though, this fixed $99 price is ridiculous.

Don't know if the Simogo developers are on TA, but congratulations on Device 6 being among the IGF Finalists in Excellence In Visual Arts, In Narrative, and In Audio, an Honorable Mention for Excellence In Design, and as one of the Grand Prize winners

makes me kinda want enhanced ebooks where sound effects and what not is timed to your position.

I know some audiobooks that do that.
