housing market collapse - The government can't help it if homeowners buy beyond their means. The housing market was a bubble. It was bound to burst eventually.

economic recession - Since when? It may go into recession in the future, but based on current data, we're not in a recession.

dollar in doldrums - I'm not sure if this is all that bad for the economy, like some proclaim. It lifts exports, which will create jobs. Heck, China has their currency set artificially low, and it's one of the reasons they're posting 10%+ GDP growth every year.

Housing market collapse - government shouldn't allow financial instirituions to give mortages to people with no job/income without covering system in event of default. That shit is suicide.

Economic Recession - It's coming. Citigroup going under could be a big catalyst. They have $72bn of bad debts. $17bn wrote down in late 2007. Another couple billion yesterday. If most of that $72bn goes, Citi is finished. Money market is dead. Without borrowing the economy is truly in serious trouble since it contaminates everything.

Dollar - Inflation. You import more than you export. You will eventually have stagflation if you can't stop this trend. That shit is nasty. Look at Japan.

MSNBC: 200,000 participated in the Dem. caucuses, double the Republican turnout.
Independents broke for the dems. That's good news I guess but we'll have to wait and see if it happens in November. Also, I think Dean's 50 State strategy is paying dividends. <3 Dean!

Holy shit, Obama beat Hillary among women.

WTF? Are those fat pictures photoshops? Theres no way...:lol

Nope. Those are actually him. He was on Leno last night and they showed Video of him when he made an appearance on the show. Pretty wild change for Huckabee.

LOLZ at Guiliani on FoxNews about the police money scandal "everything was handled approproately"- I don't know there was an appropriate way to cheat on your wife.

why?

hillary >>> edwards

why are you pulling the sexist card as if she have no chance whats so ever? Do you really think that anywhere but the south won't vote for hillary? Last time i check john kerry and john edwards didn't do shit to the south.

I'm a realist who lives in the South. And the reality is, Hilary is one of the most hated, polarizing candidates I've seen in years. People didn't hate Kerry and Edwards. They despise Hilary.

They just flashed a stat on MSNBC by the way, women overwhelmingly voted for Obama.

The government has a LOT of blame there. The Fed pushed interest rates down to fast, too hard, and kept them there too long. And regulations on lending became too relaxed.

We may be in a recession right now . . .the data is backwards looking so you won't know you are in a recession until data becomes available and shows it.

Yes and no . . . sure it will help exports some . . . but since we are hugely dependent on imports and run huge trade deficits, it turns out to be a net negative right now. Remember, we import most of our oil and we are paying for it with a declining dollar.

She has two L's in her name.

Edwards is rambling. Uh oh.

I'm glad Obama won, I'm glad Huckabee won.

I hope it's Obama/Edwards vs Huckabee............and whomever on the Republican side.

Well I am glad Obama won... but upset about Huckabee performing so well. I really do not like him as a candidate. But at least he will be easy to beat in November. If he gets the nomination.

The conventional wisdom has been that Democrats need to run a southerner to win a southern state or two to win. However, it doesn't seem to work that way anymore. Things are even more polarized these days. If I remember correctly, Edwards didn't even win his home state. But some western states have moved more blue . . . so what matters are the damn battleground states.
Listen to this man. There was a reason why the Democrats won alot of "battleground" states in 2006. Colorado, Virginia, Nevada, Arizona, Ohio are the critical states for 2008. The South is a hopeless cause for Democrats and that region's clout on the presidency is overstated.

Fat sack of shit in the middle killed a dog by hanging it from a tree, then got arrested for bringing a 9MM hangun onto a plane.

At least the dems will have some good weapons against him if he is *somehow* nominated.

That might be the most important statistic of the night. One side seems a bit more interested in voting.

Bush may have turned off a lot of GOPers.

*Listening to Edwards blather on*

Is there a reason people think this guy should be Obama's side-kick? Did he bring anything to the table for Kerry four years ago?

here's a bit of advice - if you know absolutely nothing about macroeconomy don't pontificate on it as if you do.

:lol :lol OH GOD for a second there when Edwards started talking about a tidal wave of change and listing off states, I thought he was gonna do a Howard Dean BYAHHHHHH parody
