Since it was mentioned in the WWDC10 thread by X-Frame to create an iPhone 4 wallpaper thread, I figured I would do so, as I had already updated my old wallpapers for the new display. The original iPhone wallpaper thread didn't go anywhere and died off pretty quickly. It would be great to have a thriving iPhone 4 thread to grab new wallpapers from, for use on the home screen or lock screen.

Since the iPhone 4 has a beautiful, high-resolution display, all of your old iPhone wallpapers will look pretty crappy on the new screen. It's time to upgrade those wallpapers to the new iPhone 4 resolution, which is 960x640 with a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch. In comparison, the past 3 iPhone generations have had a screen resolution of 480x320. That's quite a difference.

Downloaded a lot of them. I think I have about a collection of 20 just from today.

Also, if you go to InterfaceLIFT they're already giving resolutions for the iPhone 4 display, though it seems they're simply cropping the images but I'm not positive ..

It's really hard to believe that these screens will fit to a 3.5" screen with no rescaling. They are so huge on the monitor where I'm looking at them now. Pixel density on new iphone is seriously insane.

Hey! Thanks a lot. If you have still the original, could you rather do a 1024x1024 picture? That way if I use the normal size, it won't be cropped or zoomed in when I put it on widescreen mode.

Photoshop. A lot of the iPhone wallpapers on my 3G are just resized wallpapers from my MacBook Pro. Since I have all of those wallpapers in a higher resolution, I just edit them down to 960x640.

Looking through iPhoto at my old wallpapers from the original iPhone makes me sad. I don't have the higher res versions.

Yeah, when I first saw the images I had to check the size of them because I thought "Those are far too big for the new iphone".

Here are some wallpapers for the home screen. These aren't really busy, mostly gradients and textures. I do agree with a lot of guys on GAF that a very busy home screen wallpaper looks like crap or has that "myspace" effect. I'll be using something very simple, that doesn't overwhelm the home screen, but adds a bit of flair to it, while still looking very clean.
