I always make new wallpapers for my devices. Here's the new ones I made for the iPhone 5.

THe lock screen is actually a modified image from a artist/designer online that is popular for wallpapers on the verge staff devices. I really liked the colors and patterns, but changed it to fit a full iPhone 5 device resolution and modified the design.

The home screen is completely original, and update to my design that I have had since the iPhone 4 which has usually been popular. It just makes it super easy to see your apps in the columns and the colors look great on the iPhone which is why I stick with this design.

Added HenryGale's cool custom work to the iPhone 5 album and enzom21's additions to the iPhone 4 album, as well as added the link to wenis' Minus album for the superhero and Adventure Time work. Great stuff!

At the request of a few folks in the iPhone 6 OT, the thread has been bumped in anticipation of and in preparation for the iPhone 6/6 Plus launch. OP now includes wallpaper and ringtone content ready for use on your new device.

It's good to be back and look forward to more great contributions!

curious how wallpapers work for 6+, do you need to scale it up to 2000 by 2000 or w/e the actual values because it downsizes them?

You're talking about wallpapers compatible with parallax scrolling, I believe... yeah, those are a lot tougher to find/make than you'd imagine.

There's barely any media out there for wallpapers that support the MacBook Pro Retina displays, which is what I would likely have to make them from to get parallax-friendly wallpapers. Some of the ones posted have a higher resolution than the screen and will work with parallax on, though not ideally.

And it seems most GAF users turn that off on their phones anyways, so it seemed like catering to a crowd that doesn't exist.

That being said, if people would like to post parallax-friendly wallpapers, they are welcome to do so, but as with all the others, I will require that they be in the proper dimensions for ideal visual output.

Actually I believe he may be referring to the fact that the 6+ has an internal rendering resolution of 2208 x 1242 which is then downscaled to 1920 x 1080.

So the question is whether its best to have wallpaper at the internal resolution or the display resolution.

I think we'll have to wait until Friday to find out...? Unless some scaler expert can inform us.

I would imagine that if it's downscaling its internal renders to match the pixel output of the display itself, the output would end up the same/similar either way.

I mean, it all comes down to what the actual output method is, and the screen outputs 1080x1920 pixels, so it would likely just render it as-is. If it isn't, would it not effect other media like videos? I can't imagine people being happy about the processor playing fiddle-fiddle with the rendering of their 1080p video content unless the output is the same.

But yes, we'll have to wait and see, I suppose. Though I'm confident that it will be fine.

I saw a Zelda LTTP wallpaper a while ago kinda like the pacman one in this thread. Link and enemies apeared between the apps. Anyone know where to locate it?

Nice inclusions, Cuphead. Will update the album in the OP later today.

What format are the .m4r files underneath? Wondering if I can use them on my lumia

They are MP4 files in a special container that meta tags them differently. Change the extension on them to MP4 and they will likely work.

If it exists, I've never seen it. And it might not be in a great resolution for te newer phones.

Subbed.

How do you get those ringtones in the OP to work? Do I simply need to download them?
Download them and sync them via iTunes is the way I've always done it.

So can someone explain the parallax effect to me, and why it messes with wallpapers?
Parallax is the feature where icons slide around the home screen to present the information in a way that looks consistent with how it would appear when looking directly at the display, even when viewed at an angle. Sort of a pseudo 3D effect.
But when the screen shifts like that, it also shifts the position of the wallpaper, so parallax requires extra margins on the top and bottom of the screen. Meaning wallpapers are either upscaled or centered when applied, leading them to never look how they say they will in the settings.
Lots of people turn it off because it bothers them, which also turns off the zoom effect when opening apps and other animated aspects of the OS.

Wow, I had no idea until this exact moment as I move my screen around and look at it

Thanks. Didn't make the thread for nothing, after all.

Yeah, it was an "oh yeah, that's cool" bulletpoint feature of iOS 7 that a lot of people got tired of or annoyed by really quickly.

I'm not going to turn it off, since I like how the parallax stuff looks when I open and close apps and whatnot.
