Well.. it is the Rip Off Republic, but who the hell was charging €500 for a PS4? It's €399 everywhere I've seen it.

Really? Says the base model is 400 on Gamestop.ie, mind you if you're getting a bundle it would be close to 500. It's a real pity about that straight dollar/euro conversion.

You spent too much bro, 400 in Gamestop!

Checking in from Walkinstown, some Killzone MP would be pretty savage lads it has to be said. Maybe we should have an Irish GAF OT, honestly didn't know there'd be that many.

I was thinking the same myself the other week.

I did receive an email from GameStop confirming I would be getting one at launch. I ordered online. I would be getting worried if I hadn't had some confirmation by now.
Mullingar by the way :-D

I did my part. Heading out now to get my x1. Ps4 next week. Wheeeeeee

If you paid 500 at gamestop you get the mega bundle. Console is 400 everywhere

Definitely waiting until the spring, although the hype has been getting to me.

Likely to get an Xbox first though as my brother is getting one, although the PS4 is looking mighty tempting.

Not surprised, we've been high up the list of console sales going back to the PS1 days. Makes me worried I won't be able to find a PS4 next week though.

Didnt Ireland have the highest percentage of PS2's per population in the world or something?

Anyway my plan is to go to a random xtra vision and buy one. No one ever thinks of going to xtra vison because they always forget it still exists.

As I mentioned in another thread, GameStop Ireland sold through all their 2013 allocation of PS4s as of three weeks ago. When I went to update my preorder, they took the preorder list out of an envelope - a thick pile of a4 sheets, with maybe 50 names per sheet.

Trivia: outside of Japan, Ireland had per capita the highest install base of original playstations in the world.

I would if I could. All the near ones closed :/

Surprised to hear since I haven't met anyone who is buying either next gen console anytime soon. But I rarely talk about games outside of Gaf anyway.

Btw lads I got a mail from playstation the other day saying;
Visit our dedicated gaming space, PS4 Rooms, at No. 10 St. Stephens Green, Dublin 2 from November 20th to December 8th where our PS4 experts will be on hand to show you all the amazing features of this powerful console.
I might drop in during the week for a look! They've loads of stuff to play

I wouldn't mind a trip to that myself... if only it didn't require a 4 hours bus trip to get there.

IrishGAF out in force!

I pre-ordered from shop to, mostly because I left it til really late to order it!
(they had launch day pre-orders until like a week ago or something mad like that)

I wrote this from the vita browser because I'm pure cool like that.

So I take it the economy is looking up in Ireland? At least enough for the mass consumption of new PS4s?

Was talking to one my dad's former Irish colleagues a few years ago and he was going on about how scary the Irish/EU recession was.

We're exiting bailout son!

Economy/recession has never stopped us from the buying the latest gear lol

Visited local Gamestop earlier this week, store manager did say that their European HQ is nowadays in Ireland (my guess is due to low taxation). Might be something to do with this?

It's weird. We're still in recession yet we, or at least the younger generations have enough money to buy the latest trends.

I think Ireland is the only place in Europe that GameStop still has a strong retail presence in. We don't have many independent stores, it's all franchises like Tesco, GameStop, HMV, Smyths, PC World and so on.

Consumers in Ireland have also logged the most pre-orders in Europe for the Xbox One console, with Australia having nabbed the most Xbox One pre-orders on a global basis.

This cannot be right, even on a per store basis. PS4 has been sold out for months here, but X1's are still available easily.
