PS4 has had the worst first year of any console I've ever owned, no doubt. And it looks to have been a shit year for AAA, sure.
Nintendo's had a decent year though, on both Wii U and 3DS.
Vita has been okay.
Buggy Messes:
Assassin's Creed Unity
Halo MCC
GTA Online
Driveclub
Did you own a PS3? That first year was far, far worse.

Buy a Wii U, so many awesome games now. I would say this is one of the best years in gaming if you like Nintendo.
Smash Bros. Wii U & 3DS
Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire
Persona Q
Mario Kart 8
Fantasy Life
Bayonetta 2 (includes the first game free)

DriveClub doesn't deserve to be in that category as it wasn't a buggy mess, definitely not on the consumer side, unlike AC and MCC which are fucking shocking.
Looks like First poster should buy a wii u
Is this just part of the growing pains of a new generation of hardware? I don't remember it being this bad with the PS3 / X360 and PS2 generations.
New IP Disappointments:
Watch_Dogs
Destiny
Buggy Messes:
Assassin's Creed Unity
Halo MCC
GTA Online
Driveclub
Remakes:
Last of Us
GTA V
Halo MCC
Meh Sequels:
COD Advanced Warfare
Dark Souls II
Infamous Second Son
Feel free to mention anything I forgot.
Certainly not for non-handheld Nintendo fans.
Wow, did you go into hibernation during the other generational shifts? Post PS3/PS2 launches were nothing short of being abysmal. This is actually one of the best launch years in comparison to previous ones I've ever experienced. Between my WiiU and PS4, I literally have a stack of games from this year alone. And nice one not mentioning the WiiU. Even counting the WiiU alone I wouldn't be able to keep up with releases.I think part of my disappointment comes from the games that showed the most promise back in 2013 didn't deliver. Haven't played Bayo 2 and all the new Wii offerings, though I did take a swing at Mario Kart 8 and it was great. Still, this is the year that we were kinda promised the next-gen revolution, yet nothing happened.
Yes titles like DA:I and Shadow of Mordor are good games in their own right, as well as the slew of compelling indie offerings. For the most part though, the hits seemed to be sleeper hits while most of the big sellers tended to be disappointments in one way or another.
Certainly not for Nintendo fans.
Actually, last year we got the opposite thread! Inexplicably.

Especially when you consider that last year was an objectively terrible year for gaming.
Fixed that for you. Thanks a lot for the one worthwhile game you gave the 3ds Nintendo - a visually-dumbed-down version of a superior console game

... nothing in there you might like?
