is ''24'' currently the shittiest most-watched show on tv?

S1 - awesome
S2 - really awesome
S3 - meh
S4 - decent
S5 - really awesome
S6 - nightmare

So, if S7 follows S6's lead, then yes, I will agree that it's the shittiest most-watched show. If not, then it'll remain as one of the better shows on television.

"hay guys what's going on in this thread?"

Yeah, except I don't think many people watch that show. At least, I hope not.

I dunno about the US, but it has massive ratings in the UK. People here are obsessed with it, a major TV magazine over here has a Doctor Who column EVERY week, to put it in context it's as popular as Lost was in it's first season in the States.

Maybe I'm defining shitty wrong. Does it NOT mean weak writing, poor acting and fart jokes?
Watch Blink, Girl in the Fireplace, The Empty Child, The Doctor Dances, Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit and get back to me.

Couldn't I just stick needles in my eyes and give you a thorough account of my experience?

I do however note that NONE of those episodes are written by Russell T Davies, so I concede they may not be dreadful. In fact, kick that twat off the show and I'll give it another shot.

I give him credit for bringing the show back but I have to agree with this. I really hope Moffat eventually takes over.

I haven't seen Heroes, but I thought the show was pretty well received on GAF. Did Season 2 take a complete nosedive?

The wheels started to come off at the season finale and this season has been pretty awful.

Lost.
House.
The Office.
Pat Robertson's show.

These are the only show left.
EVERYTHING ELSE IS GARBAGE CREATED TO DUMB DOWN THE POPULATION.

Oops looks like you forgot House, a mistake I'm sure

Anyways the last 3 seasons of 24 have been poor, with the last season being some of the worst TV ever.

Time to watch cable... The Wire, The Shield, Dexter, etc.

Season 5 was phenomenal.
Fact.

24 has been pretty terrible since season 3, I agree, but it would have to be a lot worse than I remember to make even the top 10 list of the worst television shows currently in production.

i've said my piece about 24, but just in case anyone's curious: this show has a great premise, but it's way too dedicated to one character to do any interesting exploring within that premise. they're wasting it to placate the tastes of people who just want die hard with politics, but jack bauer was never as interesting as john mcclane.

good lord no, heroes is much much worse. so is grey's anatomy. what a shitfest of medical bullshit that is (like house, but house isn't as awful)

Actually I agree somewhat. I'll keep saying it but you can't go much further than cardboard cut-outs when they are in a real time 24 hour environment. I always recommend to people that while I quite enjoy 24, the first season is really all you need to see and you've seen it all. The problem for me though isn't that Jack Bauer isn't as interesting as John Mclane in any fundamental way. They've just never been effectively able to deepen his character (once again because it's impossible to show any real change within the confines of the real time format despite some of the admitted advantages the real time format brings, like urgency. When you spend that much time with a character you want more. Mclane is fine the way he is because he pops up in a movie for 2 hours every 4 or 5 years. How many hours have we watched Jack Bauer?

Heroes is currently the shittiest. I loved the first season but holy crap, they really fucked it up here on the 2nd. I can't believe its that bad.

Prison Break is still really good, but with the loss of
Sara Tancredi
I can't help but feel a little pissed/displeased and disappointed with the direction of the show. Still, I love it. Wentworth Miller, please do me with all the semen you can muster.

Same. Heroes s1 = quality (except for the finale). s2 = shit. I only watched the first 2 eps, but it was more than enough for me

Does JAG still get high ratings?

JAG is/was like the modern day version of Murder, She Wrote. A popular show that no one admits to watching.

i think they're even too dedicated to the action format, personally. plenty of interesting things happen in the span of twenty-four hour days, and i think exploring them in that real-time format could be really fascinating. but like i said, they're stuck on bauer and they're stuck on political intrigue.

season 4 and the latest season 6 sucked. all the other seasons are great, season 5 being some of the greatest tv i've ever seen.

Most of them (all except the last two) are written by Moffat. His episodes are far and away the best in the series.

Heroes takes my personal cake, particularly considering the early nosedive it's taken. However, 24's last season was bad to the point of being nearly unforgivable. They've got their work cut out for them if they want to redeem the series.

Btw it's hardly the shittiest most watched show on TV. I would even make the same defense for Heroes which is subjectively far worse imo.

My mood towards these shows is more akin to most disappointing given the premise and opportunity although 24 had a number of good seasons television quality wise.

There is a real top tier when it comes to television as a medium and unfortunately over the last few years, some shows have either gone off the air that reached that level or have dropped off of it by no longer being as innovative. I would lump 24 into the latter category.

i don't know what show you're watching if you think lost is bad. that show is fantastic--it's inventive and original, with a pretty great cast.

When I think of Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly and Jorge Garcia, I think of the word great.

i didn't say "uniformly great," but i don't think any of the performances on the show are bad. there are clear stand-outs, and several of them at that
