Is anyone NOT enjoying GTA V?

GTA IV > GTA V

Its just the same thing but more comedy irony racist jokes and good lord with Trevor, I hate that animal its like seeing jack nicholson in The departed.

The mechanics are more simple, less punishing and do wharever you can, Hell I can even drive without worrying being killed by my own car it feels like a mini tank.

Is it as good as RDR?

Hard to say. Personally RDR is my Game of the Generation because of its story and setting.

So far I'm enjoying the combat in V more though, and the missions designed around the three person team have blown me away. Won't have a full opinion until I've finished it and let it digest, but it's shaping up to be a contender.

The only thing I'm not enjoying is that I like Trevor so much. Seeing as he's a terrible human being. But wow do I like him.

It depends on your situation. If a car is bouncing pretty fast you can roll with the physics and have a good shot at turning. But if it's slowing almost completely then you won't be able to influence the physics all that much.

Yeah, but it wasn't fun. Everything has to be super fun now.

So this is only if the car is still in mid-air? I'm (still) confused.

If it's a mechanic that works when you've landed the car on its roof that seems like a pretty shitty admission that the driving physics are a bit wonky, meaning perhaps you're even more prone to flipping your car in this game compared to previous entries. Maybe the physics simulation is more complex, this time around? I don't know since I've not played yet.

the zelda cycle is strong in this one

Don't listen to this guy, he's trippin.

Other than the combat feeling stiff I really really like it... The story and characters, and atmosphere is amazing..

I would say for a gameplay perspective I would want the movement for walking/jogging/running controls to be tweaked a little. Have the ability of getting in and out of cover more smooth, and just have mandatory looser free aim..

I hope Rockstar goes full MMO like style for GTA Online, I also hope they do a next-gen port..

I prefer the driving physics of GTA IV and ability to have gas/break on the face buttons, but other than that, after over 20 hours thus far, I really don't have anything negative to say. The game is phenomenal.

what racist jokes

Either way you're fucking trippin. This game shits on gta4.

I keep failing missions for random reasons like falling too far behind in a race. I'm a PC Gamer and I'm struggling with the controls so that's probably why.

In terms of performance all I can say is there isn't any noticeable frame rate issues for me on PS3, but the low textures and lack of AA is quite noticeable at times.

That being said the game is very atmospheric and I'm thoroughly enjoying the game.

I'm surprised that it somehow exceeded my expectations.

When I started it I was kind of like "Okay, well this is GTA tried and true." And then after about 2 hours in the game really turned and it became really awesome.

It's a very good game.

I'm enjoying it. And graphically its better then I thought it would be. Its a huge improvement over GTA 4 and even RDR on ps3(which looked like crap imo)

There is no way you could justify this. Nooooo way.

No if your car is flat on its top it's done, you gotta get out. When you're in midair you can influence how the car turns but that's a dangerous game to play. You have a couple of seconds to position it correctly and the slightest mistake will send your car to pieces.

One thing I've noticed is that cars take less damage before becoming basically not worth driving. Like if you slam a corner of the car hard enough it will catch on the tires and it really cripples how fast the car can go. This happened in GTA IV too but it was a lot rarer than it is here.

I'm loving it.

The frame rate can be a little jarring at points but I've gotten over it.

There is just too much good stuff here. It is MILES better than IV.

It was like they took all bad parts of IV and fixed them and made the whole series more like San Andreas / Vice City again.

The stat building and customization is back with cars, clothes, tattoos, everything.

It keeps getting better and better too. When you finally get Trevor it just takes off.

The map is the most complete open world I've ever played in. It feels like a real city without the compromises in scale that typical come with these types of open world games. The highway system, the level of detail, the depth of content put into everything is just staggering.

IV was held back by its stupid cliche story and self contradictory characters. It sucked the fun out of it. The driving wasn't fun. The mission variety stunk.

V crushes IV in almost every way I can think of.

Oh, phew. So it's the same as it's always been. Thanks for clarifying that.

The in-air control sounds interesting, but potentially disastrous at the same time, as you've said.

I'd think this many games into the series that people who don't enjoy it (like me) would have learned their lesson and not bought it. Thus I doubt many aren't loving it given reviews say it's a great entry and that anyone who is a fan of the series should love it.

Though of course, not applicable to younger gamers or people who haven't played any of the GTA3 games on for whatever reason.

I think V improved on IV in a ton of ways but I liked Liberty City because it was a character in itself, and Niko had a way better story and motive, it felt real as opposed to the unnecessarily motivated crimes of the trio in V. I wish IV had customizable cars and guns and wide open terrain with a more colorful palette. V overall is a much better game though, as it should be given the budget and the time invested.

The car damage can be a lot more spectacular in this game too. When I failed a jump like I mentioned my sports car basically shattered. Pieces of it were everywhere. Both bumpers, the hood, little pieces of the car were everywhere and even a tire flew off. I even spotted some glass from the windows on the road but they vanish pretty fast.

The less hardcore damage can be cool too. If you scratch your car on a wall it's actually scratched, you can see the grey stretch across the paint.

3 hours in and it's still just GTA to me..and the mission structure for these types of games get boring awfully fast...I've already lost interest because I feel I've played this game many times before.

Thats my opinion guys, what did you expected in this thread, good opinions ?

Ditto, They really take the best features from their other games and add them really good for GTA V.

GTA V is what GTA IV should have been, what San Andreas was envisioned to be, the best realised atmosphere since Vice City and it feels like playing GTA3 the first time back in the day.

GTA HD is finally here. And I was scepitical is fuck before. I've played for about 20 hours already, it's worse than crack.
This pretty much describes what I think.

I didn't like 4, but I'm absolutely loving 5 so far.

One week ago I wasn't following this game at all because 4 was a disappointing experience. Now I'm glad I even bought it. Feels like playing 3 for the first time, with the great diversity that made SA my favorite GTA, and the great atmosphere from VC.

Edit: oh right, there are performance issues sometimes, but I'm enjoying the game so much I actually don't care.

I loved Vice City and San Andreas and then found GTA IV a huge, huge letdown. The game world was incredible but the whole thing took itself way, way too seriously and wasn't nearly as 'fun' as a result. No mission variety, story was garbage, side activities weren't nearly as interesting, etc. It turned into a total grind.

Should I bother with GTA V?

not really A gta fan and I disliked the first 5 hours of so of V, But im around 20 hours in and having fun. I really need to play more but I have to say that this is not some amazing thing that will blow your mind, don't fall for the hype in that regard. Its just gta, granted its Very open and so far my favorite GTA, but its still just gta. If you are a fan of the franchise then this will be quite the treat. But I really don't see how it will change the minds of people who dislike the series on a fundamental level.(im talking mission structure, shooting, driving, etc) For what its worth I dislike third person shooters other than vanquish, I hated red dead redemption, gta IV etc. But this game has alot of distractions and I can tolerate its core mechanics. And its humor is spot on in my opinion. Its really hard to find a game that has my sense of humor so im enjoying that aspect. Honestly give it A try! im having alot of fun.

Sorry for any errors in spelling, sentence structure, or whatever. Im on my dumb phone.

I love it. Technical performance is flawed but totally fine.

I've played about 7 hours, a mix of story and fucking around. Already love it more than GTA4.

I'm enjoying the story, but God dammit I wish Rockstar would look at the gameplay in other open world crime games. It's becoming more of a chore to play the game every time I come back to it. It's not near as boring as Red Dead was, the characters are more interesting, and the story seems to be moving at a faster than the snail's pace of red dead.

Right now I'd say the only thing it does better than Sleeping Dogs is the overarching story being better written, and having a greater number of quality characters interacting and shaping the story. I still haven't found a character I like as much as Wei Shen or Winston though. Sleeping Dogs is a better game in every other way that I can think of right now.

Havent played GTAIV, but GTAV doesnt take itself seriously at all......everything is over exaggerated, and I laugh very frequently....its an extreme parody of the US so take that for what it is

This game is way less sombre than GTA4. If you loved SA and VC, you'll dig this.

Sounds good. It looks like they added in way more ridiculous and fun stuff to mess around with, an area in which GTA IV was sorely lacking.

The damn preorder bonus was a (spoilered for overly sensitive people)
Blimp you can actually fly
. That's already an advantage over IV.

You think Hong Kong is better than Los Santos? Wow

IMO they aren't even in the same league and that is coming from a big Sleeping Dogs fan.

I wish GTA V had Sleeping Dogs combat, especially hand to hand combat. But other than that there isn't much of a comparison IMO. Sleeping Dogs is fun, but relatively shallow by comparison.

I can't reasonably complain since I've only seen other people playing it, but the combat looks really clunky (spoiled by Sleeping Dogs), but yea that's about it.

I'm not enjoying it. I played around 40 minutes so far. I hate what I've seen (in other playthroughs) of all three characters, and I hate the gameplay. I hate following people with bad driving controls and having to look at a minimap all the time. I hate how there's now saints row 3 style radio station indicator. I hate how you can't warp to shore. I like the idea of scuba diving but I haven't made it that far. I hate how I've played 3 missions and had 5 game overs within them. I hate the lack of frequent checkpoints and low health. I hate how slow it is to get into a car. I hate the talk radio and the overall tone - it's not satirical, it's self-righteous and referential. Ifruit? Absolutely hilarious.

Edit: first gta game , only played parts of saints 2 and finished saints row 3.
Also half of rdr, which I thought was okay. Partway through Mexico was where I stopped.

The only Rockstar game I truly enjoyed was Red Dead Redemption, while the others I usually considered grand gameplay tragedies. I'm really glad I went to Redbox the other day to check out GTA5. Yeah, on foot movement still stinks and the lack of customizable button layouts is a damned crime but you can tell that a lot of care was put into it. Love to turn off the HUD and radar, drive to a random spot, park and walk around that part of town. Good stuff.

Well, I'm off to Bonk some assholes on their cellphones.

I'm enjoying it considerably more than I thought I would. Slow monotonous start, the first few hours it becomes a fascinating and constantly rewarding experience.

If you're a console gamer at heart there is nothing to worry about in terms of performance you have my word. I hated GTAIV but I'm definitely a fan of GTAV, it's not a 9.8 kinda game but it's a great game regardless.
