Is Atelier Ryza any good?

I had never heard of this game before, but I saw a picture of the main protagonist and she looks super waifu so I was thinking of picking it up.

Judging only the gameplay and story:
First one: alchemy system is great, combat is pretty good, but the game is short and fairly easy. Plays well on the Switch, guess it looks even better on other platforms;
Second one: improvements everywhere except the story which is predictable, alchemy system gets broken even earlier and the game is even easier.

It's a good choice if you like JRPGs but there are better ones.

Ryza games is my first game in to Atelier series and enjoyed it a lot, the gameplay loop makes exploration and finding new materials for crafting fun and addicting and story is kind of slice of life and light hearted rather than being deep.

How is the music? A good soundtrack is important for a JRPG.
Judge it yourself.

There is no game. It's a thighs simulation and all you do is walk around admiring the view. 10/10.

Ryza is amazing
I am just a little disappointed that they didn't squeeze more out of the PS5 for Part 2

I didn't like the first game.. something about the battle system felt loose and weird. Ryza2 the battle system feels much tighter and snappier.

You've never heard of any of the Atelier games? There are over 20 of them now.

I like them. They are JRPGs with the twist that they are about 25% traditional JRPG combat and 75% crafting/gathering.

Yes it is. Don't go in expecting a AAA RPG series, but the games are solid. Ryza is the best of the bunch.

I liked it. The battle system isn't anything to write home about, but it's a very charming game with good characters and interesting story.

Yes.

Bought it on a whim not having played any Atelier games. I really liked the alchemy crafting system. Spent hours getting the perfect materials and crafting some busted gear. The combat is fine and the story itself isn't anything special, but it's a very light and enjoyable atmosphere. The bright colorful visuals are nice too. If you like budget JRPGs I doubt you can go all that wrong with this.

Thighs and bobs make this game a 10/10.

Also, it's a pretty good Atelier game. It depends on if you enjoy the Atelier gameplay loop though as it is meant to be slow paced and focus on crafting. It's like slow-life and adventure the game.

Unless Atelier series can sell crazy high then you won't see high tech graphics from them. These games just won't sell as much as other JRPGs like FF to justify expensive graphics.

To be fair, Ryza did a new milestone for the series sales-wise, but that's also a reason not to push it. IIRC GUST is still a small team even under Koei Tecmo.

True and Ryza visuals is much more improved compare to past Atelier games on PS3.

The graphics are fine. I am just pretty sure the Ps5 could do 4k60, but all they give us is 4k30 or 1080p60.

Anime avatars: yes it has boobs and thighs best game
Normal people: nothing special about it, don't bother.
More like:

"normal" people: Oh it's anime, so it must be trash
anime enthusiasts: looks cool, hot thighs too, lets check it out...wow this is pretty enjoable

First I was skeptic, seemed like low quality generic jrpg to me - but after reading and watching few reviews and playing the games, I'm a huge fan. All the waifu bullshit aside, they are great games.

And short? Please. The first one took me 55 hrs, the second 63.

Actually just ordered Atelier Ryza 2 and it should be in my hands soon. I never played one of these games before and always wanted to and I heard good things about them. The series also never seem to drop in price much as well for some odd reason. Then again, it could be because it's a Japanese game and kind of popular.

You might be a bit lost in the beginning if you never played 1 as it's a direct sequel and all characters from the previous game are there.

Yeah, there's definitely continuity. The story and characterizations also play on emotionality of what happened with the characters in the first game.
