Is Battlefront really the only Star Wars game we are getting?

Word on the street is that Amy Hennig, previously of Naughty Dog, is working with EA Visceral to make a 3rd person Star Wars shooter/action adventure game. That's all the hot tips I have for now though, keep them under your hat... Shhh!

Yeah I won't lie I am a bit disappointed by the amount of SW games we're getting from EA, I thought we might have 2 by now, but it looks like only Battlefront this year and Visceral's game next year.

Unless EA unveil and release another Star Wars game, but that seems unlikely imo. Hopefully something for PS VR at least, that would be awesome and seems like a good fit.

Games take a lot of time and money to make, Battlefront was announced very quickly after the deal was struck with Disney iirc and Visceral had just made Dead Space 3/Army of Two Devil's Cartel before moving onto Battlefield Hardline, its definitely going to take time for them to get their projects out but once they start hitting they will be more regular I think

... and mobile and tablets. As far as time they don't reveal that sort of thing, it's just described as "multi-year."
IINM Disney has the mobile and tablets.

Has it been said if EA are allowed to use bits of old canon or create new canon? Or is it strictly under the watch of Disney now?
I think any other canon, like most EU media, can be categorized under Star Wars Legends, AKA not part of the film continuity.

I betcha 9 times out of 10 they just wanted to bypass BioWare's canon and that's it. I highly doubt they care as long as long as Ep.VII does well. To me, it's not a big deal, it's just making the film stand out even more.

I would not be shocked one bit. They're just making Battlefront sell the films as some officially licensed game. This is like a reboot in some ways. Next to Lego Star Wars, they sorta have a fresh pallet to work with. Mobile is probably their test center considering they got all sorts of genres on there and I have no idea if they're canon or not outside of traditional characters.

They probably don't want to confuse their upcoming fans when the next film is 1 in 3. It's disheartening when games take the hit, but there's quite a bit out there if you go searching.

It's the only new one but Bounty Hunter on PS4 is happening so there's that. I think there's a COD esqe one in the works.

Disney will be milking the shit out of Star Wars now they have it.

In store merchandise for toys and books have already ramped up massively since they acquired the property from Lucas.

They've likely got multiple games in development with a roadmap of releases stretching out for years already.

Unless TFA sucked... a lot riding on JJ

The series has been milked for the last 38 years. As long as it's good I'm ok with it.

Battlefront would have been enough for me but sadly no real single player campaign. Fuckers.

I am wishing for someone attempting games similar to the SNES trilogy.

Blend different genres/styles and, for Yoda's sake, let me play the heroes again. Not a nameless soldier

We need a new X-wing vs Tie Fighter.

Agreed. With Oculus/PSVR support.

Dead Space style Star Wars game would probably be great.

Thats what i want to see.

A meaty and bloody SW game.

Well, the good news is that the studio that made Dead Space is working on a Star Wars game. The bad news is that it's highly unlikely to be "meaty and bloody".

shadows of the empire remake would be neat.

Make it like 1313

Edit: the more I think about this, the cooler it sounds. I think dash rendar is an awesome han solo type character and he has a cool side kick. Add some additional supporting characters to hang out in his ship, just like the falcon.

Basically I want a han solo game starring dash rendar with the same behind the scenes plot from the n64 game.

kinesis replaced with the force?

I would like to see Mass Effect style combat come to the star wars universe.

What I would give for a full blown open world starwars game, I dont care how, AC, Batman, GTA, type anything, whatever just give me one.

Yeaaa about that, the devs of Lego Star Wars are owned by Warner. The same company making DC movies directly competing with Disney/Marvel.

GrimE was based on Sith Engine (or the other way around)

LEGO is a privately owned company that has nothing to do with Warner - except their deals to develop products based on Warners IPs

LEGO makes hundreds of products that are related with the Star Wars universe and computer games are just one small part of their products.
