Is Bob's Burgers as good as prime Simpsons?

Big fan of KoTH, but prime bob's is better than prime KoTH. It's close to simpsons in its prime, and it sometimes hits those levels of amazing. Watch Sheesh! Cab Bob? Burger Boss, The hauntening, gayle makin bob sled, Glued, where's my bob?, lobesterfest, torpedo, bob day afternoon, topsy as a primer to see it at its very best.

Adding in "Ear-Sy Rider" to the episode list.

I was wrecked when I saw that BB was no longer on Netflix aside from one season.

There was a strong push to keep it up, but it seems a deal couldnt be struck.

On another note id like to add south park in its prime was simpsons tier. It also has held up infinitely better in terms of recent episodes.

what i've watched of bob's burgers i've found pretty boring. i'd put king of the hill or archer ahead of it imo personally tbh

but prime simpsons stands alone

I just recently saw the first 5 seasons of Bob's Burgers.

I wouldn't rate it as highly as Simpsons 1-9, but it sure as shit is up there among my favorite animated shows now.

Bob's Burgers has its moments, but it's very sedate on the whole, which makes the joke notes they hit all the more poignant (like when Bob was on painkillers and working with Daryl to learn how to play the BurgerBoss video game, he got so high it was hilarious), but it doesn't have the energy that The Simpsons had at its prime.

Bob's Burgers is just good comfort food TV, like Everybody Loves Raymond, funny but inoffensive and not too engaging, although it has moments of heart or comedic brilliance.

It's a great show, but I don't think it's as good as the critic, let alone the best of the simpsons

Different kinds of comedy. The Simpsons has a drier tone, more biting commentary. Bob's Burgers is pure improv most of the time.

I like both. Bob's Burgers scratches the itch I have currently, but the Simpsons will go down as more important obviously.

The first 2 or 3 seasons of simpsons are only good, not prime.

I find the first three seasons or so have really grown on me over the years, as they're a lot more heartfelt and less wacky in general, and my attachment to the parenting and family moments has only grown as I had my own kids.

Not that I like the more clever and wacky stuff in later seasons any less.

Pure blasphemy. Season one I'll give you (still worth the watch IMO), but Season 2 is chock full of wit, ever so tight writing, hilarity, bite, heart to spare...It's a different approach than the later seasons but by all means excellent and supremely polished in its own right, and it pains me how its presumed inferiority is so often taken for granted online. And what to say about season 3, where the show starts untapping its potential in wackier, looser humor, without abandoning its more grounded roots, and it's home to a staggering number of bonafide classics.

I really like watching BB, but don't think its special.

What makes it good?

BB is good in a really relaxed, slow burn comedy kind of way. It isn't trying to be like other shows. Almost all of the humor comes from familiarity with the characters, not necessarily the situations they find themselves in. The plots are also more down to earth, with a lot of them revolving around how the restaurant isn't special or all that great.

I think they're two different shows so comparing them is hard.

Part of what makes me love BB is that it really feels a lot like my own family. I never imagined there'd be so much random breaking out into song and people just doing creative shit all the time, but both my kids are constantly up to something of that nature.

And I really like the Bob and Linda relationship.

Prime Simpsons > ur fave

sorry.

just as an example I remember the "hole diggin" episode being a major TV event. Amazing. Everyone watched it and talked about it on Monday.

also, me and my entire family laughing @ this non-stop for a good 10 minutes when it first aired. Prime Simpsons is a masterpiece.

Yup. Season 2 and 3 IMO are absolutely apart of the shows overall prime and home to some of the best episodes in the series.

I never got into the Simpsons. What seasons are considered "prime"?
Seasons 2-8 are perfect television, practically. Season 1, the writers were finding their footing but it has some great episodes (Bart The General, Krusty Gets Busted, Moaning Lisa). Season 9, you can start to see the decline, but it has some all time greats as well (Homer Vs. NY, Lisa's Sax).

I adore Bob's Burgers, it's the best animated show at the moment and the past few years, but no. Peak era Simpsons is probably going to be impossible to beat.

Prime Simpson might have the benefit of being released in the pre internet age, where people can easily discuss it. Kids during that period did not have many competing sources of entertainment and so whatever thing simpson did resonated for longer. Today, I have so many different sources of entertainment. Why the hell would I remember all the memorable stuff in the sea of other memorable stuff.

I think most people who say they like prime simpson probably were not old enough to remember it and the idea that season 4 to 8 are great is simply a symptom of everyone agreeing for the sake of it aka it has become a meme of its own.

I think Bob Burger is just as good. They go for different things. Simpson is more outrageous than BB.

you can't be serious

ew. no.
Bob's Burgers started good, never nearly as good as golden age Simpsons, but still good.
but by the fourth season every character was so Flandarized that it had already reached Zombie Simpsons status

Speak for yourself. I grew up on prime Simpsons and I've watched pretty much all of the episodes like 20+ times. I just finished watching I Love Lisa again.

I don't know, I've never seen a single episode of The Simpsons.

I'm 27 years old, too.

:-:

Man I'm 31 and I watched 3 or 4 seasons of Simpsons when I was young and don't remember shit from it.

Like, I vaguely remember specific things, but I have no want or nostalgia for going back and watching it again.

It blew my mind when I saw there was like 120 Bobs Burgers episode. Because I was thinking to myself Woah finally an animated sitcom I can start from the beginning on and watch all the episodes but theres just no way

King of the Hill already surpassed Simpsons is in the point im trying to make
