Is brunch a thing by you?

It was when I was in college. I lived on campus so I survived off the campus cafeteria. Brunch was every Saturday and Sunday from 10am-2pm.

It's a "thing" for snobs. Call it whatever you want, you either have breakfast or lunch. And if you start drinking before 12, you might have a problem.

Brunch is a big thing everywhere. OP, time to start traveling more.

I eat brunch all the time but what op is talking about, "brunch", aka dedicated menus and mimosa specials, are for certain types of people and it's no shame to not be one of those people yet. traveling has nothing to do with it, more has to do with your social circles

working class people in particular couldn't fathom dropping $50 for two to get drunk on a Sunday morning

Bloody Mary vs. Mimosa is one of the greatest debates mankind has ever had.

Bloody Mary all day, every day

How can there possibly be so much vitriol for something that is basically just a word for breakfast food around or slightly before lunch time? I can't comprehend how some of you are able to function in daily life, unless you are totally normal people until you log on to GAF to dump all of your misery.

You guys must really hate people who eat breakfast for supper.

Fuck yeah brunch is a thing by me, it is an incredible thing.

Bloody mary and breakfast? I'd do that every day if I could.

Yeah seriously what the hell. Also why do people assume it necessarily involves getting drunk or consuming alcohol at all?

Now what's really snobbish is High Tea.

Most brunch menus are not any more expensive than that restaurants normal menu, unless they offer a bottomless drink special.

Here in san diego nearly every single person i know does this regularly including me. It is amazing and huge here. No place does it better in the whole world i've seen.

Every Sunday I go out to have brunch at some kind of restaurant. So...fucking.. good!!!!!

This is the modern brunch I now know from living in a city. Dedicated menus with chef-driven fare. Bloody Marys with all manner of crazy garnishes sticking out of them, as well as other cocktails (not just mimosas).

This isn't your grandma's Sunday brunch and there are no warming trays to be found.

Only visted SD once for a few days, stayed downtown at the Omni for work. I'd love to go back. Didn't have one crappy meal the whole time, and that went from "fine dining" to Brian's 24 to a taco truck in a Walmart parking lot.

Hey GAF, is toast a thing near you? I'm just wondering, it might just be the town where I live but it seems like people here are buying machines that heat bread and make the sides crunchy. Anyone ever heard of this?
This actually just came to my area a few weeks ago. It's alright but I don't understand the hype. Do you put anything on it?

It's an Australian way of life

Brunch is for snobs?

The brunch menu is usually the cheapest menu of the week for most restaurants. At least that was my experience in Houston. The places that charge $8 per mimosa are bullshit though. Give me bottomless or I'm not going.

That sounds terrible lmao, who would ruin bread like that.

Does brunch even exist on a day other than the weekend?
I think the idea is that people stay up later on Friday and Saturdays nights, so they sleep in on the weekend. If you want to eat out, by the time you get to the restaurant it's 10 - 11 am, so you eat a meal that covers both breakfast (that you missed)... and lunch (because it's not like you're not going to be eating lunch an or two later).

Us old folks figured this out years ago
even though we're in bed by 8:30pm.

I dont believe in breakfast, lunch and dinner. I eat whatever I want when I want. Fuck precribed times for eating certain things.
